I 100% agree! My Ghyrson deck easily overwhelms the table. With just a few small spells, you can deal insane damage to everything. Add few cards that trigger him when your opponents just play the game, and it’s GGs.
My favorite combo is the infinite draws and triggers you perform when you have impact tremors and curiosity on the field at the same time, you then cast the locust God. He triggers tremors, making everyone take damage and then curiosity triggers and draws cards. Locust then triggers making you summons a token, which then triggers impact tremors again and starts the entire system over again until everyone is dead
Very cool. I agree it could work in the new meta that is very creature heavy as you stated! Also a nice brewers advantage as people won’t exactly see what’s coming. It may be hard to land Malcolm, a pinger, and a creature Changer as people will definitely try to counter whichever u get third right, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad deck. I play Malcolm kediss I might goof around a bit and see if there’s a little ghyrson package that make sense as I’m already on the pirates, pingers, and creature changers!
Oh for sure the brewer advantage will definitely be there! They will definitely start to catch on after that third spell 😂 I’m really enjoying playing a sticky commander with solid board control. I like that the 99 does the thing without the commander hitting the board as well.
It's super unknown and I've won several cedh games because people don't recognize the combos till it's too late. I love manual storm but it's definitely c or d teir
The problem with ghyrson starn in cedh, and while I did win a badlands with the deck, the existence of ob nixilis captive kingpin pulls this deck to a complete stop. Yes you won't always see him, but nothing is worse than playing a few rounds and then being unable to play the game because this commander exists, causing you to lose the tourney. EVERYTHING you do feeds grows ob nix so if he hits the field you are HARD locked
I built Thopters with him & also have the cards like Reckless Fireweaver & all the versions of that effect. I have it to where my opponents are beibg dealt 3-6 damage whenever I flicker a creature that etb makes a thopter & if it gets down to it, those effects + Sharding Sphinx will end the game.
No one's playing it because it doesn't draw cards and doesn't make mana. In 2024, if your cmdr isn't a value engine in the cmd zone, it's not a cEDH cmdr.

That damage definitely stacks up fast!
How do you mispronounce the card's name in 3 different ways? That's impressive.
I stopped playing him because he made all my friends sad.
Once they start playing stronger decks you best believe I’m going to rebuild Ghyrson.
Hold it back for the arms race lmao nice!
@ Not gonna lie my buddies made some new decks/upgrades and CLAPPED me tonight.
Time to bring back the Kelermorph babbbyyyyyy.

Replace locust god and impact tremors with niv and it'll do the same thing
Could you do this play test thing at the end of any deck tech especially budget, for a new commander player it would be nice ;)
I used to do it every deck tech but the drop off is wild and hurts the channel 😅

Wouldnt Taii Waukeen also do mostly the same thing?
It would definitely be similar but you miss out on blue and ward which is huge.

I almost spat out my coffee in laughter, didnt quite sound like "decktech for decks"... 😅
I played him & couldn't find anything close to consistency so instead I binned the deck and played him in nekusar
Shhh he's my secret tech
😅

Speak for yourself, I’ve been playing this since it came out 😂
I made him day one
Nice
This is literally the top result of izzet commanders on edhrec. Not top 100, not top 10, the top result.
No doubt he’s a super popular casual commander but when it comes to cedh people don’t show him much love 😅
Yeah not played in cEDH at all really. Love the originality
Was about to say that
You can’t read or something? It says CEDH
Because as soon as he hits, you're a problem lol
No one bats an eye at him in cedh
No such thing as cedh anymore. Commander is commander.
