I remember when this came out, I was so happy for Dee Dee. He really redeemed himself after leaving the band/Standing in the Spotlight. This and Zonked are masterpieces.
I have just watched "Hey Is Dee Dee Home" and am now hearing this album for the first time directly after the doco. Really enlightening at the same time heavy going and dark. It caught my eye in the suggested vids list due to the date.. the original footage in the doco was a year before this release.. I can only take away an even deeper sense of a long-held view of simply "Oh Dee Dee... poor old Dee Dee.. tortured and still a songwriting monster talent... R.I.P Buddy

Him and Johnny both, but DEE DEE really lived it till the end. I mean Johnny threw rocks at the Beatles, they all pissed in the beer and had the Sex Pistols drink it, Johnny's idea. Johnny beat up Malcolm McLaren the Pistols manager that's pretty punk rock.
It probably helps that the Ramones best songwriter wrote all these tunes and this record is produced in a stripped back manner reminiscent of the best Ramones albums. Production was the Ramones achilles heal, starting with End of the Century.
Every riff, every tone and i would bet more than one vocal line. Dee Dee disserved his own pat on the back. All's quiet in the eastern front....fug yeah.
