As I professional photographer before I truly enjoy your videos. You give a good overview of the ship. Yes I believe the all of the Princess Casinos should be non smoking. Do others agree?
Personally, I don't like casinos, at all. While Casinos are a great source of revenue for many cruise lines, and therefore will remain a prominent feature, there are some lines that never had Casinos, feature only a small excuse for one, or even did away with them entirely. Germany's TUI and AIDA cruises come to mind, as well as Switzerland based Viking cruises...
Again, a fantastic video, thank you again for sharing. Princess really did hit it out of the park with the Royal class, I really cannot think of another large ship that feels, small ???, yeah I will go with that, 4000 passengers and it never felt crowded, they did a great job.
Thanks for this great video. We were supposed to be on board the Sky in March for our 40th Anniversary celebration, that was sadly cancelled due to COVID-19. We love the Royal Class ships and really like the look of the Sky. We will sail again. One day. Don't know when....

In terms of the casino, it’s my humble opinion that it goes back to the basic addictive personality. Only those who can’t leave a casino alone would even go in. The house odds are so stacked against the guests it’s nearly impossible to do anything but lose money. If you’re gambling, you’re probably smoking. I NEVER go in and make it a point to walk around.

Quite a lovely ship. I had booked a cruise on the Sky Princess for January of this year but unfortunately had to cancel it. As usual Princess has done an excellent job with the decor of this new ship - looks like plenty of room for all the passengers so they never feel crowded. I used to go to the Internet Cafe on the last night of my cruise - to print my airplane boarding pass - but that’s not necessary anymore (I still sometimes visit the Internet Cafe if I need IT help) - and I have stopped going into the casinos because of the smoke - oh well, no jackpots for me! The Enclave looks heavenly!! Thanks so much for the excellent tour!

As always I enjoyed you video. Some comments: 1. Princess has really hyped the Sky Suites. I know you couldn't get into them, but at least a mention and maybe a shot of the visible balconies? 2. It looks like Princess did a good job of learning from the earlier ships of the class. She looks more interesting than Royal at least. And we've enjoyed our times on Royal. 3. Since the Casinos are also passageways smoking should not be allowed. On Royal the smoke from the casino is very present on the deck above. Nasty David

Freaking LOVED the pre-title sequence. (nope.. haven’t used an Internet cafe since 1974….). Seriously though- am not, as you might imagine- traveling with a lack of gear. I know you love pushing the button for the Chef’s Table ‘shades’ Hmmm.. I rather like the Take Five vibe :) The Retreat Pool redesign is interesting.. I prefer Royal Princess’ full-width single level… a bit less closed-in feeling. Another solid production, Rich.
Great set of videos on this ship. The dining one was wonderfully made. It fascinates me that smokers have been reduced to being second class citizens and considered pariahs. Nothing wrong for them to have a place to smoke. They have an addictive personality so they will be perfect gamblers. Those of us who dont smoke dont have to stay too long in there and I would hope they would have a good filtration system anyway.
You inquired (early on) about use of the Internet cafe. We don’t. We typically go in on the first day for assistance with setting up our devices and buying minutes, but after that we’re cool.
@@visitwithus really all of them. They all had different qualities , from small to huge The one cruise not with or in Princess was Hurtagrutin round Norway in February 2020 more expedition than cruise

First, yours are the best travel logs we’ve come across. Second, yes, I can’t understand smoking and casino. I on gamble on board, because I can’t tolerate the stench. Sorry smokers.
I fully agree there should be no smoking in ANY of the public places - especially on cabin decks and casino - the latter where people occupy slot machine stools to smoke and read their book! I also feel sorry for the Princess staff who have to serve in these venues when they're exposed to second hand smoke on a daily basis.

I love your videos, very well done with creative edits. One small thing that bothered me, especially coming from the hospitality industry myself and we’re just coming off of this COVID nightmare. It happened either in this or your dining video (or both) when you are reviewing the dish-ware. You picked up the plate and tapped the plate underneath it to show it’s china and not plastic. That was fine, but I would suggest an edit to cut out the part where you put it back for the next diner to then be using for their meal. Cross contamination and it seems a bad message. Again great videos. I’m looking forward to my Sky Princess Cruise next month. Aloha 🤙🏼

Hi. Thank you for your kind words. I predominantly use a Sony DSLR - in this case an A7Riii, but I've since bought a Sony A7Siii which takes the video capabilities to a whole new level. If it's video primarily you're interested in, then I recommend the A7Siii. It's not cheap, but my goodness, the quality is jaw dropping! :)
I wish these new Cruise Ships had onboard movie theaters. I don't do public pools, so it'd be nice to have something else to do during the day besides sit by the pool. At least Royal C has a bunch of fun activities. Luckily 4 of the 8 days are in ports. I never go to Casinos because I hate the smoking.
Strangely enough, you can't smell it in other areas, but I'm with you here - it's amazing that in a brand new ship they still allow it. I can only think it's a result of customer feedback that gamblers like to smoke when they're gambling!

Our poor niece had to cancel twice because of covid, and then the Queen’s platinum jubilee messed with her dates because of the bank holiday changes! How does the cigar bar work? Do you have to go outside or is there a specially designed room? Oh, I spotted some sensor dust at the beginning 😆 However, if that's the only "criticism" I can give that's saying something as to your high standards!
Thanks ND. I don't know how the cigar lounge works, I'm afraid. And sensor dust - GAH! It's the number one annoyance for videographers! If you're caught up in the moment, sometimes you don't notice it until you review the footage, then it's too late. :(

Re: Smoking in the Casino. I agree with you, the ship is beautiful, but the smoked up casino is a deal breaker. That issue is why we prefer Celebrity Cruises. No smoking in ANY interior space and their casino is full every night.
Hi Mike. I'd say that they are all similar, although we've not experienced Royal, so I couldn't tell you from experience. It's not better than Celebrity IMO, but still excellent! :D

I don’t know why they have stairs on ships. 3 bad falls on our recent cruise. There were so many on walkers and frames etc I held my breathe every time they tottered past the stair case entrance.
I don’t like using the lifts/elevators. The thought of how those poor, poor people drowned in the lifts/elevators when the Costa Concordia went down is unbelievably scary. My husband and I use the stairs. Just remember Teresa, it’s not all about *you* . If the ship is sinking, the stairs are the only way out🥺
Yeah, no need for a mall within on a ship. Give us more activities, pool table, water slides, diving board off the back :), trampoline :), gymnastic equip, though the fitness room is good on the Crown, LEGO room for adults, then again I am 40. Booked on the Sky for next year. I’ll watch rest of video later, music and your voice put me to sleep. Crown Princess is nice, my first love, but would like to see activities for the younger generations.
I've cruised the Sky Princess and spent a considerable amount of time in the casino and did not find it to smell like stale smoke? I'm not a smoker.....
Princess should be like Celebrity with no indoor smoking, or at least like NCL, which on their newer ships have an enclosed area in the casino for smokers.
Beautiful ship... But I've never see that amount of pools and not regular... Giant pools and all of them unused.... I know is due to the age of the guests but is funny to see, some cruises with young public only offered a tiny tiny pool like the Scarlet Lady, and this ship mostly for grown ups offered the most pool area that I ever saw in a ship but no one is using it, Scarlet Lady and sky princess should switch pool designs
Is this another ship that forgot to put a promenade deck onboard? ie the best place to spend a good part of the day and even night time when at sea. Ive already banned the Britannia for this.

I will add that we are looking for another transatlantic crossing this Autumn/winter and did the RCI Independence 2019 to Florida which was wonderful. The Britannia is going this year to Barbados but wont even contemplate it unless it is really cheap.
I feel with cruising shut down, now is the time for all cruise lines to follow Celebrity's footprint and make all casinos non smoking......Only have smoking areas on outer decks in certain locations. Its bad enough we are wearing masks due to a virus but we will be cruising and traveling with masks in the near future..why should we still have to suffer with the smell of smoke as well.....I am an ex smoker but I would not smoke around people who didn't.......it was not their habbit so why make them suffer

Has anyone ever found a formalwear rental venue on a cruise ship? It has occurred to me that very few people own, let alone bring, formalwear on the off chance they will be invited to attend a formal event. For example, I have a few kilts and even a shirt that can be formalwear if I pop in black buttons. But I have no Prince Charlie accessories or even a tuxedo like jacket. Regarding smoking, on very rare occasions, I love to smoke a cigar or puff on one of my churchwardens and enjoy a top shelf single malt, BUT there is no chance that I would expose others to my exhaust. So, no. I do not agree with smoking in public areas.
You CAN rent formalwear on a ship, but many Scots wear full Scottish dress and it sounds like you're not far off. I doubt a ship would have a jacket to suit a kilt though. :)
We cruise. My husband has owned his own dinner suit (DH/Tuxedo) since before I knew him, obviously he now has a newer suit. But if you cruise, you know you need a DJ.
Responding to the question about smoking in the casino, no it ought to be smoke free. It’s not healthy for non smokers to be there and the smell of stale smoke frankly dirties the “classy” experience of high rolling. And leaves it cheapened. I hope there are poker rooms where smokimg is not allowed or I’ll not be spending any time nor money here.
I couldn't agree more Anthony. It has no place anywhere in the public areas of the ship. There are alternative outdoor areas for smokers, which we give a wide berth to. :)
Well I disagree with Cathy. I take my 20 dollars each night for entertainment. If i lose it I leave, I do not have an addictive personality. Its just fun and i generally break even, I hate the smoke so I am never there long :)

Great set of videos on this ship. The dining one was wonderfully made. It fascinates me that smokers have been reduced to being second class citizens and considered pariahs. Nothing wrong for them to have a place to smoke. They have an addictive personality so they will be perfect gamblers. Those of us who dont smoke dont have to stay too long in there and I would hope they would have a good filtration system anyway.

You inquired (early on) about use of the Internet cafe. We don’t. We typically go in on the first day for assistance with setting up our devices and buying minutes, but after that we’re cool.

@@visitwithus really all of them. They all had different qualities , from small to huge The one cruise not with or in Princess was Hurtagrutin round Norway in February 2020 more expedition than cruise

I fully agree there should be no smoking in ANY of the public places - especially on cabin decks and casino - the latter where people occupy slot machine stools to smoke and read their book! I also feel sorry for the Princess staff who have to serve in these venues when they're exposed to second hand smoke on a daily basis.

I love your videos, very well done with creative edits. One small thing that bothered me, especially coming from the hospitality industry myself and we’re just coming off of this COVID nightmare. It happened either in this or your dining video (or both) when you are reviewing the dish-ware. You picked up the plate and tapped the plate underneath it to show it’s china and not plastic. That was fine, but I would suggest an edit to cut out the part where you put it back for the next diner to then be using for their meal. Cross contamination and it seems a bad message.

Hi. Thank you for your kind words. I predominantly use a Sony DSLR - in this case an A7Riii, but I've since bought a Sony A7Siii which takes the video capabilities to a whole new level. If it's video primarily you're interested in, then I recommend the A7Siii. It's not cheap, but my goodness, the quality is jaw dropping! :)
I wish these new Cruise Ships had onboard movie theaters. I don't do public pools, so it'd be nice to have something else to do during the day besides sit by the pool. At least Royal C has a bunch of fun activities. Luckily 4 of the 8 days are in ports. I never go to Casinos because I hate the smoking.
Totally Agree Michelle, a movie theatre would be brilliant on this class of ship but I guess the Movies Under The Stars is their version of it. :)

Great video. I’m astonished they allow smoking in a public area. Would actually put me off booking the ship in case you can smell it in other areas.
Strangely enough, you can't smell it in other areas, but I'm with you here - it's amazing that in a brand new ship they still allow it. I can only think it's a result of customer feedback that gamblers like to smoke when they're gambling!

It was the Adriatic Carol. Kotor is a stunning port to visit. The mountains are jaw dropping. :)

How does the cigar bar work? Do you have to go outside or is there a specially designed room? Oh, I spotted some sensor dust at the beginning 😆 However, if that's the only "criticism" I can give that's saying something as to your high standards!
Thanks ND. I don't know how the cigar lounge works, I'm afraid. And sensor dust - GAH! It's the number one annoyance for videographers! If you're caught up in the moment, sometimes you don't notice it until you review the footage, then it's too late. :(

Re: Smoking in the Casino. I agree with you, the ship is beautiful, but the smoked up casino is a deal breaker. That issue is why we prefer Celebrity Cruises. No smoking in ANY interior space and their casino is full every night.

Hi Mike. I'd say that they are all similar, although we've not experienced Royal, so I couldn't tell you from experience. It's not better than Celebrity IMO, but still excellent! :D

I don’t know why they have stairs on ships. 3 bad falls on our recent cruise. There were so many on walkers and frames etc I held my breathe every time they tottered past the stair case entrance.
I don’t like using the lifts/elevators.
The thought of how those poor, poor people drowned in the lifts/elevators when the Costa Concordia went down is unbelievably scary.
My husband and I use the stairs.
Just remember Teresa, it’s not all about *you* . If the ship is sinking, the stairs are the only way out🥺

Princess ships are getting too big. In some shots, the ship seems like a shopping mall.
Le Visionarium you are right. We prefer small to mid-sized ships.
At least Princess isn’t trying to create a floating theme park.
Yeah, no need for a mall within on a ship. Give us more activities, pool table, water slides, diving board off the back :), trampoline :), gymnastic equip, though the fitness room is good on the Crown, LEGO room for adults, then again I am 40. Booked on the Sky for next year. I’ll watch rest of video later, music and your voice put me to sleep. Crown Princess is nice, my first love, but would like to see activities for the younger generations.
You don’t like it, you don’t cruise with them.
It’s not obligatory.

I've cruised the Sky Princess and spent a considerable amount of time in the casino and did not find it to smell like stale smoke? I'm not a smoker.....
To be fair, they do have pretty effective extraction systems on board, but there's always a lingering SOMETHING there we found. :)
Love the casino but wont use it if there is smoking allowed.

Beautiful ship... But I've never see that amount of pools and not regular... Giant pools and all of them unused.... I know is due to the age of the guests but is funny to see, some cruises with young public only offered a tiny tiny pool like the Scarlet Lady, and this ship mostly for grown ups offered the most pool area that I ever saw in a ship but no one is using it, Scarlet Lady and sky princess should switch pool designs

Is this another ship that forgot to put a promenade deck onboard? ie the best place to spend a good part of the day and even night time when at sea. Ive already banned the Britannia for this.

I will add that we are looking for another transatlantic crossing this Autumn/winter and did the RCI Independence 2019 to Florida which was wonderful. The Britannia is going this year to Barbados but wont even contemplate it unless it is really cheap.
I feel with cruising shut down, now is the time for all cruise lines to follow Celebrity's footprint and make all casinos non smoking......Only have smoking areas on outer decks in certain locations. Its bad enough we are wearing masks due to a virus but we will be cruising and traveling with masks in the near future..why should we still have to suffer with the smell of smoke as well.....I am an ex smoker but I would not smoke around people who didn't.......it was not their habbit so why make them suffer

Has anyone ever found a formalwear rental venue on a cruise ship? It has occurred to me that very few people own, let alone bring, formalwear on the off chance they will be invited to attend a formal event. For example, I have a few kilts and even a shirt that can be formalwear if I pop in black buttons. But I have no Prince Charlie accessories or even a tuxedo like jacket. Regarding smoking, on very rare occasions, I love to smoke a cigar or puff on one of my churchwardens and enjoy a top shelf single malt, BUT there is no chance that I would expose others to my exhaust. So, no. I do not agree with smoking in public areas.
You CAN rent formalwear on a ship, but many Scots wear full Scottish dress and it sounds like you're not far off. I doubt a ship would have a jacket to suit a kilt though. :)
We cruise. My husband has owned his own dinner suit (DH/Tuxedo) since before I knew him, obviously he now has a newer suit. But if you cruise, you know you need a DJ.

Responding to the question about smoking in the casino, no it ought to be smoke free. It’s not healthy for non smokers to be there and the smell of stale smoke frankly dirties the “classy” experience of high rolling. And leaves it cheapened. I hope there are poker rooms where smokimg is not allowed or I’ll not be spending any time nor money here.
I couldn't agree more Anthony. It has no place anywhere in the public areas of the ship. There are alternative outdoor areas for smokers, which we give a wide berth to. :)

Well I disagree with Cathy. I take my 20 dollars each night for entertainment. If i lose it I leave, I do not have an addictive personality. Its just fun and i generally break even, I hate the smoke so I am never there long :)
