Ganesha idols are a huge part of pretty much every Indian household. A lot of people have even started purchasing Ganesha idols for their cars! While keeping Ganesha idols at home is an age-old trend, lots of modern interpretations of these idols now exist. However, like everything that is produced in large numbers there is bound to be a couple of products out there that don’t quite follow the ancient rules of Hindu idol design & worship.
In this post, I’d like to talk about the direction of Lord Ganesha’s trunk in Idols. Yes, you heard me right, the direction in which Ganesha’s trunk faces is way more important than you think. It is said that Ganesha idols for home should have their trunks facing to the left, not the right. Why this is a thing, has been explained in the video

Ganesha is an energy. It doesnt get affected by how its form is represented. Forms and shapes are play of Maya. The energy behind it is the real essence and untouched by the form.

Hello Sir! By mistake we brought a Big Ganesh with right side trunk as a showpiece at home not for Puja.I heard people saying at home it's not good so wanted to know is that not allowed even for decorating in the drawing room as we have not kept the samee on the puja house for worship.

i have seen a three headed ganesh idol the right head has right directed trunk, the left head had left head the center head had centre kept trubk with 4 tusks. what kind of idol is that? i think i saw this in kopeshwar mandir courtyard, its a small idol

For example there's a pic of lord Shiva consuming ganja but the sci is that's there's something in ganja which lowers the effect of poison which is in lord Shiva's neck which he consumed during samudra manthan the scriptures written by our rishi munis has some or the other sci related to the action position and behaviour of god's because our rishi muni knew that for a moment common people will forget god's existence and will think that it's silly rules made by humans but the rishis thought far from this so that they could explain complicated sci by taking the help of god
