For someone using a stub nib first time you have an amazing writing....i have been practicing with lamy joy for a couple of years and not even close to yours ...I love 1.5 mm it accentuates the narrow and the broad in the strokes compared to 1.1 mm where as1.9 mm becomes too broad for longer writing
You're lucky you didn't break the cartridge piercing 'knife' when you twisted the cartridge in. The cartridge is automatically pierced when you screw the body on. The cardboard ring is there to prevent that during packing and shipping.
Those caps are to cover the nibs if you unscrew the nib unit from the body and leave the ink cartridge attached.....And hopefully you have removed the cardboard ring.
@@TheNormalHandwriting It's nice to see a quote instead of 'the quick brown fox'.......So, you are fairly new to fountain pens.....and writing? For a really inexpensive set, Speedball makes a set with same size nibs..,only takes standard international cartridges (no converter)....sort of something you could carry with or travel and not worry about losing. And, they are extremely smooth writers.
Star Gazer Yes I’m pretty new to pens and writing. Thank you for your suggestion :). I just checked out and the price is really good. I will think about that when I consider buying another set 🙂
6:00 to 6;12 View in slow motion. I can see the right hand side of the nib bending open at each leftward direction stroke. The bottom of the 'L' and the second leg of the 'm'. That's not good for the pen. You have to relearn how to write when you use a fountain pen. The angles must stay the same at all time until you master what you want to do exactly. Angle 1: vertically down backwards. Angle 2: Verically left or right (like a metronome) Angle 3: Swivel (direction, like on a compass) Angle 4: Twist ( twist on it's axis) All this serve two main purposes: Keep both parts of the nib in contact with the paper at all time and... comfort. For a wider line vertically, simply press down harder (a smidge). That will open the nib and more ink will flow. Here, I also note that all that's missing is the 'twist', which causes the right hand side part of the nib to scratch on the left direction while the left hand nib is not touching the paper. Most importantly, I see you write with your wrist (and the nib) pivoting all over the paper like when you use a ballpoint or a pencil. With a fountain pen, you have to write with you arm, as if your wrist were in a cast. The whole forearm rests on the table, moving forward and backwards to go up and down on the paper. (+ that'll give you a much better control) See here: th-cam.com/video/Ibjgb6ccVwc/w-d-xo.html
Thank you :) This pen is really smooth from the beginning. Some pens that I bought before (Parker, Muji) took some first writing to get rid of the scratchy feeling. Lamy joy ine of my most favourite pens for practicing recently :)
It's a good pen and all that but my issuw with these nibs is for caligraphy the thinnist line drawn shoult be wat thinner compared to the width of its thicker part.
Hello I just bought my first Fountain Pen, it's a Lamy Joy with the Joy Set! I have a few questions if anyone can help me, I'll be grateful for it🙌 1. Can I change the ink that I'm already using to any other Joy nib? 2. As you know the Joy Set comes with 3 nibs but it's not only the nibs but a part of the pen too. I ordered one EF nib apart, can I use it with my Lamy Joy? It doesn't comes with the pen part it's just the nib.
Beautiful handwriting. Seems wrong in blue in though (and I dislike the Lamy variety anyway). I'm so old I date to the days of dips nibs in schools with black or blue-black ink.
Hello there, I have a Lamy safari with a M nib. Now, I intend to buy a calligraphy nib. As a person who used all calligraphy nibs, which one would you recommend? I am between 1.5 and 1.9. Thank you for your videos and your answer in advance. Best
Hi :). I use 1.1 nib for 95% of the time cuz it fits my handwriting style. I can't give more insights about the other 2. But one of the reasons why I don't use them much is because I feel the larger the nib, the less the ink flow (maybe Lamy blue/black ink is a bit dry for the nibs).
where could i find this Alphabet? the Caligraphy of this manual is amazing i would learn this alphabet. Sameone know this kind of Alphabet? sorry for my english
I sometimes wish that human skills can be passed around like perks or cards in video games, I would love having a good handwriting like you ma Sha Allah, But im just too lazy to put the effort and time into it. I wish there were some other skills i could trade in so we could exchange our skills XD. I’m really good at napping in any place at any given time for example XD

If you fit cartridges onto all the section nib sizes, put the little caps on the nib end to prevent the ink from drying up.
Thank you very much 🙂😀
I've just ordered a Joy in 1.9mm (not the set ) and figured the caps were for putting the pen back in its box since the clipped cap has its own spot.

Thank you. That’s very helpful :)
I have finally managed to get rid of the ring, even though I (oddly) like it a lot 😂

Great review. Cheers!
Love the music, too👍
I love this pen and I like your calligraphy.

I'm wondering if the 1.5 wouldn't be a good choice to learn italics with?
Love it! I’m researching into Calligraphy and think will get this set
Hi! Could you kindly tell me or link me the handwriting font you have. I'd love to copy that, it looks really beautiful!
How much pressure do you have to put on? Do you press down hard? I notice my ink is not a solid line when I apply pressure like I do with ball point.
Hi , with this pen the pressure must be minimal, the tip of the nib only touch the paper and the ink flow by capillarity
It's a good pen and all that but my issuw with these nibs is for caligraphy the thinnist line drawn shoult be wat thinner compared to the width of its thicker part.

lamy nibs just slide on and off so yes you can use it with almost any lamy pen

Обзор неплох. Но держать ручку нас явно учили разные преподаватели (взять, хотя бы, наше пособие по каллиграфии 18-какого-то года)
