Someone should do this, cause not everyone can wait a long time for an order, having a kit would save time, and still give a profit to the maker, all that has to be done is showing how to tear down the old saber in a video tutorial
I might end up doing this conversation too but I’ve seen videos of other people doing it and they said they could only use the speaker the saber originally came with when they converted before it burnt out also my Darth Vader hilt is a little different with switch set up but I want to replace the switch with buttons anyways I would like to see a Darth Vader conversation
Hey finding the force love your channel it is a little hard to do these conversations on your own mainly because a lot of the galaxy edge sabers are different in set up so I would consult a few videos or maybe dm him or a few other people
Awesome work. I’ve been watching this video on repeat trying to figure this out. I have no experience building lightsabers but I want to tackle this project. I’m a little confused about the setup you have for the blade. How do you have it wired up? And is that a resistor? What do I connect the resistor to? Do you mind sharing any diagrams I could use as a guide for both hilt and blade?
Wondering if I switched the leds with ones that are better and brighter would I need to change the board to support it or will the stock board support better string leds?
I just got back home to Argentina and the saber is not working, I think something happened on the plane... How can I check the pieces are working? or replace them maybe
Hi i just had one question about my mace windu lightsaber its switch is extreamly loose and it looks impossible to teardown can you do a teardown video ?
The led probley burnt out you’ll need to replace the led strip and find a way to balance out the amount of power coming into the blade so it doesn’t burn out again
Do you think there will be any issues with the wire gauge that goes from the CFX to the blade side of the adapter? I know on a full NeoPixel setup, you have to use larger gauge wire (like 20-22g regular, or 24g PTFE). Also, how does the stock speaker sound with the smooth swing?
Do you think the stock soundboard can be tweaked to get all the legacy blade sounds? I’m wondering if they use the same board and chipset for all savers, kinda like savi’s and it’s just a board setting that makes each different sound and color? I was using my saber the other day and the blade started cycling thru all the different blade colors on its own.
Can the black plastic where the saber is placed be removed? I'm thinking of taking it out and trimming it down so you can see through the emitter from the side, making the saber more movie accurate.
I believe u can probably break it off but not to sire yet tbh. I plan on taking that off too but not on my first saber😂. Going to buy a broken one to test it out hopefully
Would this same method also work for Kylo's Hilt? the main thing I am wondering about will be re-soldering the wires that have to get pulled, I watched another video showing a hilt being torn down
I think I saw that the glass eye was held in by glue from another video. So you could break it off and just glue the thumbscrew on yourself. I wondered the same thing since I like the ESB version a little more.
My obi wan lightsaber hilt piece has been wiggly (I know the blade part is supposed to be) But it’s the metal hilt itself that’s being wack ,i have to hold down the top part to keep it from doing so and it also dims the blade and sometimes turns off the lights when swung in some angles is there a way to fix this ? or can you do a strip down of obi wans🙃 to better see how it can maybe be resolved
I have the Reforged Skywalker legacy hilt but I can NOT get it to come apart. They must have glued the chassis into the hilt now after seeing people take them apart. Anyone know a trick for it?
Marq Awesome There’s a much easier way to change the color of those by using a RFID reader. With it, you simply change the color of the crystal. There’s vids you can check for something more in-depth
I'm now running 3 14500 3.7V batteries wired in parallel. With those I'm averaging 1 hour of usage before the batteries drop to 3.4V. Resistor for the dataline is 470 and I'm not using a capacitor.
@@Derek199574 You say you don't use a capacitor but in the video you say that you use one on the neopixel end because of the AA batteries you are using. What capacitor are you using there?
Not sure if youve figured it out already but there's a small grey plug held by a screw in the middle of the hilt holding the plastic housing to the inner metal tube (there are two metal tubesk, an inner one and an outer one).
can just the blade be upgraded to neopixel? if so is the resistor still necessary? Does anyone know if the disney boards can be updated with sound fonts?
Wow that's strange, have you tried with multiple blades? If it's still lighting up blue then most likely the board in your hilt is faulty. Not really any fix because the stock board isn't configurable from what I can tell. Your best bet would be to try to get Disney to replace the hilt for you or eventually do a full conversion and rip out all of the electronics.
@@foilfanatic I recently just tried taking apart the Disney deluxe Vader and Rey saber, the chassis seems so hard to push out I'm afraid there's still a screw holding them in but can't find any that I can access to....
@@foilfanatic Hey there. Which one button mod did you use for the reforged version? I am getting ready to tackle this, but wasn't sure of the best activation switch option.
@@foilfanatic I took apart a kylo legacy saber and the hidden chassis screw was located underneath the handle tube. It seemed to be glued but a hot gun and some elbow grease should allow you to twist the tube to detach from glue and reveal the hidden chassis screw

You are a genius! Fantastic work! I bet if you brought this to galaxys edge again they would freak out at how much better it is.
Since im a minor, im gonna try this out and get the materials. Thank you for the tutorial on Reddit and the guide here aswell.
Can you provide links to what we need to buy please. Also did you upgrade the speaker on the battery pack?
Could this conversion also be done on any other Galaxy’s edge hilt such as Ben solo?
@Darth Krayt what about kilo rens?
@@Turtleman280 yea they still all use the same
Kylo is slightly different but in hand if you’ve taken apart something before you’ll know what to do
@Darth krayt can it be done with any saber?
Thanks for this. Confirmed few questions I had doing a savis conversion keeping the blade. 💪🏻 made a few pixel blades figured it could be done!
Did you publish anything on your Savi's conversion? I'm looking to do something similar.
It's actually amazing how small the actual chancy is.

Hey Derek, Great job! I actually have a Legacy Rey saber that "broke" stopped lighting up. How much would you charge to convert it like this one??
Finding The Force he has a reddit post about it, I think you have to make it your own, and its in his description

I have the same question. Do we need to buy extra resistors and wires or they already existed?
elay12 id recommend watching TCSS’s video on building a neopixel blade. But the resistor is for the dataline.
HaoYuan Chen you’ll need to buy a resistor. You can use existing wires but I always recommend using new wires.

did you ever get an answer? im trying to upgrade just the speaker and blade on a GE legacy blade

The newer Anakin lightsaber doesn’t have a screw, how do I remove the switch?
hello I have a question myself, Is there a possibility to modding the “rey” lightsaber to look more like its revenge of the sith counterpart ?
I'd say disney will make all versions of the gradlex eventually but I don't think you could make a ROTS hilt out of it
