23 Day Beard Shave with Feather Artist Club DX Folding Razor

- Today I'm shaving 23 days worth of beard growth using a Feather Artist Club DX Folding Razor with a Feather Professional Blade. I'll be using The Art of Shaving Sandalwood shave soap and a Beaufort B4 Badger hair brush.

I tend to shave infrequently and I like how the feather razors can plow through any length of hair and don't have any of the maintenance you encounter with a straight razor. Although holding/shaving with a straight razor gives me a feeling I can't quite describe that I don't get with a feather razor.
23 days.... sheesh.. i thought my beard grew fast lol. nice. im not brave enough to shave with feathers... but good shave.

@@ShaveWithThomas for sure people's beards are definitely differnt. i used astra blades and wilkerson sword for a slightly more aggresive blade. but both are tauted as all around everyday blades based on the reddit forums im on and i tend to agree. that feather is sharp aggressive and unforgiven based on the stories and youtube videos ive seen haha
Yeah, I definitely feel like there is no room for error. With straight razors I feel like I can feel when the edge is starting to dig in and back off. With feathers, it's already too late by the time you notice something is wrong.
Maybe try a Pro Guard in the DX.
Still a great shave even with the nick. Happens to us all.

I like Kai Captain Milds myself. I find the Feather Pros just a but too harsh. Or maybe cork the Feather Pro one time.

Hi, Im a woman and was thinking of using a straight razor for derma-planing. I don’t have much facial hair but peach fuzz and the area I really wanna try this is near my eyebrows and above my lip. I am researching about straight razors and there seems to be two types the one that folds with the hinge and the Japanese straight ones. Which one would you recommend? I really wanna try this for exfoliating too. But it does look scary but less irritating then some of the disposable women eyebrow razors since the blades are smooth.
I like the folding type myself, but I don't have much experience with the non-folding straight razors or shavettes. I will straighten out the handle of the folding ones in specific instances such as going against the grain on the back of my head.
If you get a folding one, then you always have the option to use it like a non-folding one. If you go with a non-folding one, then you're kind of stuck with it.
If you bought a true straight razor you would need to hone it or pay someone to hone it to put a shaving edge on it. You would also need to strop it. The razor I'm shaving with in this video isn't true straight razor, it's considered a shavette and takes a replaceable blade.
The Feather Artist Club razors are probably the most expensive shavettes. There are cheaper shavettes out there such as the Dovo shavette which take DE/safety razor blades hat have been snapped in half(make sure to snap it in half while in the packaging if you go this route.)
The Dovo shavette is lighter than a straight razor, so a little bit of a different feel, but its less expensive and could be a good way to see if you actually want to proceed with a straight razor or a Feather Artist Club razor
The nice thing about Feather Artist Club razors are that there are five different types of blades you could pick from that are designed for whether you want a close or mild shave and whether you want a thorough or relaxing shave.
If you didn't like how one type of blade perform for your use case, the you could try a different type and see if it worked better. This page lists the different types of blades for the Feather Artist Club razors, you'll have to scroll down to find it or search for "Professional Blades":

Feather says the DX tip is best for detailed work which sounds like what you would be going after near your eyebrows:

I liked how it shaved my mustache area as well, so it would probably work well for above your lip as well.

It is basically the same thing. One advantage of the folding one is that the blade wont be exposed when you fold it and leave to rest.
