I like the fact that you didn't overdue it with the mint. When I was in Vegas, I ask for a Mojito, the the drink had so much mint in it I couldn't taste the drink. It set me back on mint flavored drinks for a while.
It may be that the drink has its roots in the Islamic scientific heyday. Their legacy can been seen in the etymology of the words 'Al-ghoul' for alcohol and "gulab" - rosewater, both which are prepared by sublimation/ distillation.
Haven't heard of this drink before where I leave, instant response of my brain is I would love to try it with an orange peel or maybe an orange wedge inside with the sugar cube!!
So I'm taking a bartender course in my country in a place called "Bar Academy" but their recipe of Mint Julep does not include simple syrup, only sugar... Thing is: Every single "how to" mint julep video on youtube has mint julep. Also they add the bourbon after the ice. Do you know why this might be? Is it legit? Nice video btw!!!
Angelica Camilo yes I did. And I did that because I was making a cocktail for myself. Had I been making one for someone else I absolutely would have washed my hands. And that’s what you should do, but since I have my own germs not really sure where the problem with that is. The point of the video is to learn to make a mint julep.
Angelica Camilo yeah ok really the only reason I left it in is because it was the fourth attempt at that cocktail all the other takes were ruined by a sound issue or something and I was over it so I said fuck it and kept it in
The Educated Barfly I actually love those uneditted, straightforward videos. And hell we are not drinking that one, why should it bother anyone if you coughed holy shit.
When you slap the mint on your hand, does the hand need to be coughed in, or can a sneeze suffice?
Depends on the flavor profile you're going for.
@@TheEducatedBarfly thats the correct answer.
I love your videos, vey informative and to the point
viviendoenquimeras thank you!

I got excited when you acknowledged the Persian origin of the word :D I'm gonna make this asap.
Gol: rose
Ab: water
Golab...
Makan Tayebi doesn’t he have it backwards on the text however?
My favorite cocktail - OGD 114 Julep. Great history Leandro!

Is the Julep tart enough for you?
Julian Weigand the Julep isn’t tart at all there’s no citrus

far out, can everybody get over the cough and get on the tools to make a mint julep instead?
Right? Gimme a goddamn break. Its an instructional video for a drink hes making for himself.
@@metamorphicorder right? its not like he could of easily started over and done another take. The video is 5 min. Wouldve been a lot more professional
Informative video, thanks. Something off-putting about seeing a bartender cough into their hand and then keep working on a drink though...
Mike Gustavson I was working on my own drink....
Mike Gustavson you should definitely subscribe to my channel they are very informative and I only cough on like 5% of the cocktails
He always looks so bothered...
Concentration :)
Never cough into your arm always in your arm no matter what happens. I know its a homebar but im just saying
I think you mean hand
1 i wanted to actually see the drink but u selected a steel cup. Then u coughed on ya hands and germitized the mint. Wtf??????
uh. I'm making a drink for myself. I reserve the right to cough on my own cocktail LOL
Cool video, but you coughed into your hand and then went right back to touching the mint leaves....
Angelica Camilo yes I did. And I did that because I was making a cocktail for myself. Had I been making one for someone else I absolutely would have washed my hands. Yeah I get that, it was just kinda gross haha

And then he probably put his mouth all over the cup when he drank it. Because he made it for himself.
Nothing like a sick bartender coughing all over his hands and then handling your mint in your drink, slapping it all over his hands! Lmao
a clown I reserve the right to cough all over my own drink. :)
@@TheEducatedBarfly lmao:-) thanks for replying
a clown LOL
@@TheEducatedBarfly I just subscribed to your Channel so don't let me down;)
a clown I’ll do my best but I’m afraid I already have *cough *cough
Your Arabic needs serious improvement
Our Persian is on point though
Not connecting the letters correctly, classic mistake. It was interesting to learn the origin of the word julep though.
jwddwj9 the one thing that doesn’t need improvement is the drink. Cheers!
He doesn't speak Arabic
The Educated Barfly no it’s not, it’s backwards
