I absolutely love Bridear. I think they're such an underrated band. I wish more reactors would react to them, and that people would give them more of a chance. Thanks for reacting to them guys! We appreciate you!

@thebear128. Precisely. Bridear is one of those bands who are frequently overlooked, though not by me, in favour of some of their contemporaries, whether it be Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila et al, when they have just as many fantastic songs in their discography as those aforementioned bands, but don't garner the same amount of views or listens of which they are deserving, with Ignite and Ghoul being among their most watched MV'S, both now well over half a million views here on TH-cam. Just saw them live recently here in my hometown of Melbourne, Aus, (2nd show) as part of their "Into The World Forever" tour, and they were absolutely 🔥. I'm so glad that not only my prayers from 2022 were answered, but that they decided to make Australia the first stop of the tour. All due respect to Dream Evil, but Bridear were the standouts of that 2nd show as I unfortunately missed the first one. Have nothing but love for Bridear. Favourite album - Expose Your Emotions.✌️♥️🤘🇦🇺

They released an album earlier this year called Born Again. It was recorded in Sweden and has a darker sound, with obvious European influences. They've had a lot of evolution, starting out more thrashy/power-metal, then incorporating both Japanese pop-rock and prog-metal elements, before this latest turn, but I've liked every iteration of the band.

Misa or Misato Ono the guitarist in the leather did the growling back with the original line up like we have here. Kimi the vocalist also did some on certain songs. Haru the bassist took over growling when Misa left the band. Bridear still plays this song and other early songs today. Bridear has uploaded several videos in support of their latest album and just back from Australia after a five stop tour there.

Thanks for coming back to Bridear, guys! Love the reaction and perspective. The live version of this song from Aegis of London is also worth checking out. It would be super cool to see you guys react to Real Is Real from their newest album; it doesn't have a music video, but really kicks ass and has a lot of rhythmic shifts, plus the mix of clean and harsh vocals.

Here's an oldie from right at the start of Bridear with the same lineup as this track: Thread Of The Light - th-cam.com/video/enbjKqMOTe4/w-d-xo.html Or you can come right up to present day with Still Burning - th-cam.com/video/v7UOTBAtJh0/w-d-xo.html (there is a live version on their channel as well) and of course I hope you enjoy these and the others from my last list in the community section. Thanks as always for the reactions!

Hey guys, thanks for coming back to Bridear. You have actually now done four reactions to them, but it looks like you missed my comments on the first one (more than a year ago) so here is an updated version:
As you know, Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Founded in 2011, Bridear are one of the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have undergone a few lineup changes, and have experimented with various styles, but they always come back to their foundation of hard-driving metal-inflected rock. They have the quintessential twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. Here is the original lineup:
    Kimi-Vocals
    Haru-Bass, growls
    Misa-Guitars, growls
    Mitsuru-Guitars (pink flying V)
    Kai-Drums
In 2019, Kai left to start a family, Misa left to pursue her own musical vision, Mitsuru soon followed, and they had to bebuild. Amazingly, they did so without any loss in quality, finding Misaki and Ayumi on Guitar, and Natsumi, formerly of Telecide, to take over on drums (after a brief trial with another drummer).
    Second Lineup:
    Kimi-vocals
    Haru-bass, growls/metal vocals
    Misaki-Guitar, audience left
    Ayumi-Guitar, audience right
    Natsumi-Drums
I saw them live in London just after this lineup came together, and they were explosive, playing mostly stuff from the original lineup. They have experimented with a variety of styles, dabbling in progressive and pop, but they still come back to their metal roots.
In “Brave New World Revisited” (th-cam.com/video/_6-OXcyMkYI/w-d-xo.html) they’ve got a masterpiece. It’s also a tour-de-force for their brilliant young guitarist Ayumi, who has also taken on a lot of the writing for the band.
In early 2022, Misaki, who suffers from severe stage fright, left the band for health reasons, and they scrambled to find a new co-lead guitarist. They have been joined by Moe, and their first release with her on board showcases some great dual shredding between her and Ayumi.
    From the original lineup:
“Thread of the Light” (live) th-cam.com/video/enbjKqMOTe4/w-d-xo.html
    “Light in the Dark” th-cam.com/video/CN3KDIBdosQ/w-d-xo.html
    “Ignite” th-cam.com/video/LQIDqudG_DQ/w-d-xo.html
    Second Lineup:
    “Starlight” th-cam.com/video/4lq90GqRxiE/w-d-xo.html
    “Bloody Bride” th-cam.com/video/CN3KDIBdosQ/w-d-xo.html
    “Brave New World Revisited” th-cam.com/video/_6-OXcyMkYI/w-d-xo.html
    Third Lineup:
    “Road” th-cam.com/video/vcsUpWW0UZk/w-d-xo.html
    “Eyes of Doubt” th-cam.com/video/_oNn9Wg-vNQ/w-d-xo.html
(This was written by new member Moe.)
“Still Burning” is a statement: th-cam.com/video/v7UOTBAtJh0/w-d-xo.html
They released their new album “Born Again” on June 28 and it’s a banger. BURRN is calling it a masterpiece. Metal Hammer compares them to Lovebites. They have posted two video singles from the album:
    “Still Burning” th-cam.com/video/v7UOTBAtJh0/w-d-xo.html and
    “Cult” th-cam.com/video/ohFf1pwwoz0/w-d-xo.html .
They have also posted a live video of the title song from the album: th-cam.com/video/H3Yrr7Ssk54/w-d-xo.html.

While I really like their new album and think highly of the current musicians this era is by far my favorite. Misa and Mitsuru had a feel for each other on those guitars. Misa was right with Saki as my favorite guitarist when I 1st fell down the J-Metal rabbit hole 7 years ago.

Huh, I enjoy Kimi's vocals here way more than I do nowadays. She always sounds so extremely overproduced and pitch-corrected on their newer stuff. You can still hear it here, but her vocals are mixed down a bit in the mix and the production isn't as heavy and I think it sounds really good. This is one of my favourite tracks I have heard by Bridear without question. Only vocals (Kimi) and bass/backing vocals (Haru) are still with the band from this lineup. Most likely Haru (bass/backing vocals) does the harsh vocals, she does nowadays anyway.

When I saw them live a few years ago, I actually liked her voice MUCH MORE than in the studio! I don't know, it seems they are never able to record her right (or they do process her voice too much - and she doesn't need it!)

    • @MaartenT
      @MaartenT หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@realdocloco Yes, the couple of things I have seen from them live both on yt and a paid streamed show (with terrible audioquality to boot, you could almost only hear the vocals and guitars and no bass) sounded way better without question. It is certainly a taste thing as well as I am not at all a fan of the doubling/tripling layers they tend to use (and a lot of Japanese bands do) which get wider the higher the voice sings. It is probably used to cover up the pitch-correction, but I always find it very artificial sounding. I like harmonies when it's done with multiple vocalists, but this artificial way of doing it just doesn't do it for me. And I didn't notice it in this track actually.

I own their Rise EP, but except for that I only own their latest 3 albums (so starting from Bloody Bride) and I didn't really look into their older lineups to be honest. I always thought Haru did a good job on the harsh vocals nowdays, so it seemed logical to me she did in the past as well but clearly I was wrong :).
