It really feels like iRacing is making the biggest strides and getting the most love. Thanks to everyone in the crew, it's been such a big part of my time and will continue to be
The biggest and best update ever in iRacing's history.
can we pay respects to our collective safety ratings

I cry daily😢
Really cool to see updates on the "invisible" things like UI, a lot of things have felt a bit old and stagnant but it seems now there's a real focus on rectifying that.
Competition in sims is a blessing for us!
Iracing finally decided to bring its simulation up to speed.
iRacing has come a long way since I signed up back in 2015.
That’s when I signed up as well! I got my wheel/pedal setup with my subscription as a graduation gift. Still run the same wheel and pedals
I'm not sure if I should get it. I'm really interested in iracing but it just seems too expensive.
Its the same engine . They literally will not upgrade it .
@@zxl7204 Don't get us wrong, it is. But this isn't a 'GAME', this is a HOBBY. (10 years of iRacing experience now talking) Your first few years will be very expensive, especially if you find your computer doesn't have the power needed to handle the demand of the graphics and physics.
You technically CAN use a controller to participate, but you will not find it easy or intuitive. The simulation physics are very, very sensitive to steering and throttle input to drive tire wear, which impacts long races in a huge way, especially as you progress up to C, B and eventually A tier events in any discipline you choose.
Start slow, get a baseline G290 with the DrivingForce Pro Shifter. yes, expensive, but you're still near the bottom of the barrel for decently competitive hardware.
My strategy was: Buy new wheel (G27 at the time), pick a series (in my case, league) and stick to it like you do a job - practice often, learn how the cars handle, learn when you can and cannot be aggressive, learn to actually race. By committing to a series, you know what content you'll need to purchase and for how long you plan on keeping that subscription going.
After that, I bought a button box from a well known sim racing shop: Derek Speare Designs (the Race King LED is expensive, but so worth it), then I migrated from single screen to triple screens, which required a rebuild of my PC from the chassis up. Then I went to VR, and then graphics cards got WAY better, and now i'm on my 4th rebuild of my gaming PC with a VR setup, cheap sim racing seat cockpit, button box, aux controls for other titles that DO work in iRacing (and are wonderful to have in sports cars), and a few other tools.
@@zxl7204 I'll put it this way also: iRacing is for someone that's willing to do something new. It's a challenge. Everything you thought you knew about racing will have to be re-learned. Most are more attuned to how the SimCade titles work (Forza, Gran Turismo, etc), and the physics are adjusted in those titles for the common gamer. iRacing is more of a training tool and a hobby than it is a game. Treat it that way. iRacing just isn't right for everyone's tastes. Those of us that are here after a few years were here because it really is as close to the real thing as most of us are going to get. There is a genuine reason why actual pro racing drivers use this simulator more often than most games (aside from their own racing organization's simulators that is, they tend to contract those out to be very specific)
Amazing features Greg, kudos. Please schedule the next big serious focus to be 360hz+ native FFB...! Then, Iracing can really become the ultimate package.
Iracing feels really confident going forward. Previously, they would keep their lips tight and not even tease anything that's upcoming. Now, they seem to have thing firmly under control and share more of what we can expect, hype up features and such, as they are positive they will be able to deliver. Love to see it, keep it up iracing!
the greatest advancement in the HISTORY OF SIMRACING. The very, very best. For the lay-person, this is not a simple 'decrease grip level by 0.1' going on here, you have to physically look at the track to avoid puddles and rivers and so on. Every single obvious painted kerb is a clear no-go, but also there are so many white lines you never even considered that are now your worst enemy. I could go on but Iracing is the king of simulation, the tempest addition is mind-blowing, genuinely mind-blowing...
🤣
agree, I jumped into a test session with rain for the first time earlier today in the Formula Ford. I was expecting so much less. I'm probably needing to learn some proper skills to deal with rain and learn where to drive, but it was quickly obvious that I needed to care less about the racing line and more about identifying, navigating and avoiding puddles of standing water.
The king of misleading people that this is simulator 🤣
Finally feel like my 30+ years of driving real cars in the wet is paying off. Start last, watch the hot-heads spin into the scenery, see them quick-repair and come flying past again, pass their wreckage and finish on the podium.
@@HDGamesWalkthroughok then what is a "simulation" in your opinion? It seems like many professional racing drivers disagree with you, what is your real racing experience?
NGL, those GTP slow-mo shots at Le Mans HIT HARD
The rain is so well implemented, worth the wait!
Rain aside, I enjoyed hearing about a potential (silly?) vehicle scan.
I am a huge proponent of you guys embracing the power of what you've built and using it to make fictional tracks (like in the Papyrus days) or more unique fun vehicles.
And if you're reading this, please start to think about vehicle preservation via iRacing. SRX potentially folding is unfortunate, but it's very good we have them scanned so they can live forever.
I'm thinking maybe truck races? Like the ones in the European truck racing championship 🤔 They said it was going to be a shock, and them showing a bus kinda makes me think it might be trucks. Would be kinda sick honestly 😂
@@Dalaxilama oh man I would love the European trucks lmao, that would be so much fun. I used to play the one for PS2 all the time when I was a kid.
My original guess is that they were going to scan and add a Super Modified but I like your guess more haha
@@Dalaxilama demo derby 💀
seen the bus and thought of the ford transit van theyve been showing off
I'd love to hoon around in a 1998 MY99 Impreza WRX. Great fun track car ... and good in the wet.
You guys changed racing games/sims forever. Keep up the excellent work! Hats off to all of those who are a part’of the iRacing Team!
Great update! Thanks iRacing Team!
Thank you guys, I am glad to be part of this =)
I just want to say a big thank you and congratulations to all of @iRacing . Your ongoing dedication to constantly improving, updating, and expanding the simulation is beyond amazing. Your efforts are very appreciated, respected, as well inspiring. Thank you to the entire team for making/keeping my favorite sim the most fun.
You guys are freaking killing it! Turned to iRacing in November and haven’t been disappointed! You guys rock!
Thanks for taking the time to get Tempest right, the hard work and patience paid off.
Impressive development. Great work and lots to come
Thanks iRacing. You guys have been knocking it out of the park every update for a long long time now. Here’s to many more years of iRacing!!!
Loving the new features! Thank you! Very well done!
The UI Update looks promising! Keep the updates coming
Y'all are crushing it, thanks for your hard work!
Loving the huge amounts of great content and keeping us informed on everything!
Just Awesome ! Thanks for doing things the right Way !
fantastic stuff as always ! already excited for the future
Thanks for the update. Just loving iRacing.
This update helped a lot, but I'd really love to see more dynamic skies. Beautiful sunsets, deep blue clear skies, actual variance of cloud types. AC's skyboxes are so good with mods, it always made iRacing feel a little dull. Usually the sky is just blasted out white or pale blue.
The rain is so good! Well done and thank you iracing
🙌🙌🙌🙌 been having a blast so far. Amazing job iracing team!
You guys are killing it 💪🏼!!
I feel like this update laid the foundation of a lot of big things to come in the next couple of years. Looking forward to it. One thing I am hoping for with the NASCAR refresh is a new tire model and improved damage models.
And blowovers.
awesome! Thanks for the updates. Would love to see some older cars in the sim like 1990's DTM and 1990's Indycar
If they include the Sachsenring, DTM cars are a must and I‘m pretty sure they are st least thinking about it. 90‘s - 2010‘s DTM cars were the F1 of GT cars.
Thanks for all your hard work
What a monumental release! Well done iRacing, you're truly pulling away from the competition
worth every penny! great work and im looking forward for the next seasons because you nearly always nailed it. Hope there will be a much more dynamic Tyre model in the future :)
Absolute game-changer of an update. Looking forward to the Sebring 12H special event, and can't wait to see what's coming across the rest of the year!
Congrats for the updates
The iRacing development has been off the rocks 🔥
My goodness, what a monster of an update! Never tried it before, but this looks supreme!
Truly incredible update, can’t wait to see what the future of iRacing holds!
iRacing continues to be the sim I return to again and again. This update is extremely excited and will be looking forward to the UI overhaul. Can't wait to get stuck into Tempest. Well done team 👍🏻
Keep it coming iRacing.... Way to go :)
iRacing is a fantastic adventure, both for game and developers. Thank you guys
Any development status update to the tire model?
Better Force Feedback. Please. Thats a most imortant thing.
Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you iracing team for keeping it a pure simulator ! I haven’t picked up the sim in a while but my subscription has been running for years. Seeing improvements like these makes me happy to keep it running for the years to come !
Thank you so much! 👍 Although I am not sure if it is mentioned in the video, the recent update must be highlighted, with the correction of the spray and many other issues. iRacing's response time has been incredible!!!
I love the rain update a lot. That being said, when you mention how physically based the rain is, I can't help but focus on the one aspect that isn't physicalized: rain hitting the windshield/side windows. I know it's such a small detail, but it stands out. Doubly in VR. I look back at Driveclub and wonder why no developer can do what they did. I know rain as a whole will continue to be updated as the seasons go on, but I really hope the canned shader you guys are using will get some attention eventually.
Exciting future ahead for iRacing!
Looks like the perfect time to transition over from ACC to iRacing. Just waiting on a few more things to complete my setup. Can't wait! Wish me luck :)
omg, yah the smoke, so much potential there! especially with all the broad cast and victory donuts!
this is awesome so happy to be here
honestly the stuff that was talked about for the future is really cool. lots of things.
Cudos, really nailing it, iRacing!
Absolutely incredible!!
I enjoy this content, it would be cool if you did this for every season, maybe going into some of the technical details with the developers.
I love this "end of sprint review" format and how you share it with the users. I hope you never stop being this transparent and also the wet track reflections would be so much more realistic with RT... Please tell us it's in the pipeline!
This is 100% a video to feel better about where my money is going, well deserved iRacing!
I finally pulled the trigger and man im loving it 😎
The best rain simulation in simracing. Well done iRacing. And glad to see all of the other improvements coming our way. 👍
you guys are incredible. keep it up
I would love to see iRacing do more with the vintage IMSA Kamel GT stuff. Like bring in new cars. It would make things more interesting.
If this series had 1 or 2 more cars from group C and GTO, it would be an absolute success, multiclass with cars from the past and in the rain it really is wonderful
We're all excited for the future of iRacing. I've been part of it now for 10 years. I cannot wait to see what's ahead.
While we're here: yes, please continue to improve the rendering engine and system utilization, especially for those with VR setups. Everything is clean and green if I'm running a single monitor, but high end systems struggle keeping details high enough to be proficient in situations where track and sky data needs to be up-to-the-minute (Rain, Dirt), while still keeping framerates above water. We know the game engine's core is ancient, and I'm impressed it's done what it's done, but I'd love to see it modernized for the hardware advancements we've had. But don't do what the competition has done: overblown reflections don't make it pretty, what iRacing has done so far do. Let's just make it easier to be pretty rather than relying on brute force :D
Inventor of rating, inventor of rain, looking forward to what comes next. Passionate people
I'm really enjoying all of the new updates! Will we be able to view the UI in VR in the near future?? It is quite inconvenient to have to remove the VR headset to withdraw from the session and to join a new session. Thanks!!
The tempest system is insane. It dries up and you really start gambling to go on to dry tires by following the new layed out dried up line. But one wheel outside and you slip. Amazing work guys!!!!
I love this amazing job iRacing ❤❤
Thanks! its awesome!
There are not many companies out there like iRacing. Thank you guys for keeping it real and overdeliver each year!
Need to underline how awesome rain looks in VR, nice work.
This is why I choose iRacing, it really is pushing the sim space forward and development has only increased over time and the direction is good.
Great update, can't wait for the Super Formula to get some wets!
Thank you so much for all the work going into all these updates. Any chance Kyalami is coming too?
I love this service so much. 15 year old me who spent hundreds of hours in F1 Challenge '99-'02 never would've believed a sim racing platform like this would one day exist lol :D Been a member since 2010 and it's just amazing to see how far it's come, big props to the team and keep up the great work!
I just really hope the iracing devs know how incredible of a job that they have done.
Thank you iracing !
I love the last sentence. Iracing does sim racing the right way
I like the look of the updated UI. Development of the base game has been something I've been very critical of in the past, I'm glad to see improvements to the underlying systems are getting more investment.
Awesome stuff.
"There's potentially a bit of a "shocker" coming on the racing vehicle front"
Could be Formula E, but them calling it a racing vehicle and not a car means it could be anything
IRacing has done a tremendous job as of late! It's great to see the progress. Please keep in mind the complainers are often the most vocal. I'm sure most iRacers appreciate the improvements.
Excellent explanation
As a new player I really like that onboarding, UI and in the future graphics are worked on. I wish every game would work things out like the iRacing team does. Great job
I would love to see Istanbul Park in Turkey added in the future
Yes !
I think if iRacing add more legendary F1 tracks to the sim it would bring new drivers who are mostly focused on open wheel racing (myself included)
So nice to see iRacing modernizing their graphics and UI. For so long it’s all felt so outdated and left behind. Really excited to see y’all really start pushing the envelope and bring iRacing into the modern era of graphics.
I love all the updates. Please please please please look at the UI elements from the perpective of VR. 1) The loading screen renders the size of a stadium at about 6 inches from your face. It's really uncomfortable on the eyes. 2) The in game UI control options & garage panes need to be flat when viewed on the mirror to allow easy admin when the headset is off (e.g. typing in the save file name). If you need a reference, Project Cars 2 did this extremely well.
Simply the best.
Thank you devs for doing what you do! iRacing truly is the greatest racing sim ever made and continues to get better and better.
Racing in the rain is so much fun. It would be cool if we could get a series (even if its unofficial) that we can race in the rain every race. Just for now, at least. It sucks having to go into hosted to have a guaranteed rain race. Either way, I love the update. Thanks, iRacing.
Amazing news, gonna sub when I get my first wheel
You rock guys.
Just add the Mazda to supported cars on a fixed/road tyre and make rain a rare surprise.
Good updates to come! I really wish Iracing would add some middle eastern tracks like bahrain or losail though.
jeebus chris I'm so excited for so much
Exciting times 😁
Loving the rain
Amazing Work iRacing 🔥👏 Now just missing an improvement in the tyre model and “tyre feeling” and this game would unarguably be the best in driving feeling 👌
Love it.
I love you iRacing ❤
