The f35 requires a carrier battle group to function. Iran has the capability to flatten every American airfield in the region. A carrier battle group is vulnerable to drone attacks, since Iran could send far more $2000 dollar drones than America has $2million cruise missiles to defend herself. The carrier battle group is relic that can be disabled with cheap modern tech as the Houthis have shown. Go and listen to Scott Ritter on this subject - Ex US military intelligence and Ex UN weapons inspector and one of the best military analysts on the planet. The US military is not capable of projecting power into Iran. The terrain is too large, too tough and Iran is too dug in. America does not have the budget OR the man power to take out Iran in a conventional war.
Every war is fought to achieve a political objective. You win when you achieve the objective. It's not about how many battles you win, it's about achieving the objective. The US armed forces can certainly defeat the Iranian armed forces. If American politicians select unachievable objectives, as they did in Iraq and Afghanistan, they can still lose.
Based on what information ?. The USA hasn't faced a real military since ww2, they have no idea what a real war looks like. Their troops have never been in a real war and neither have their leaders. Fighting farmers hiding in bushes isn't the same as a real full on war. The USA has no idea if it could win, its all just ego.
The objective should be regime change... That will end Iran's aggressions through proxies... A large part of iranian population is sick of their government, a constitutional monarchy with the Sha's descendants is totally possible
We won the wars, but lost the peace. The problem is that our Western Liberal Democratic values do not allow us to forcibly impose our political will on those we have defeated. Therefore, totalitarianism has the advantage.
Not if Russia who has an alliance with Iran gets involved, besides what happens if Russia's new found friend China steps into the fray to assist their friends.
Iran has sophisticated air defenses and missiles capable of hitting anywhere in the Middle East. The United States has not engaged a modern military in decades. The U.S. is striking in Syria and Iraq because it knows a strike inside of Iran would be far too much trouble for it to deal with.
So by *wining* does he actually mean spending Trillions and decades of effort to replace the Iranian government....with the Iranian government? I'm just asking as that kinda seems to be the US's go to move in these kinds of situations.
The US may quickly win a war with Iran but would fail to win the peace, just as it happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. To win the peace is more of politicians' job and there is a severe scarcity of F35s and Tomahawks in that department.
Quickly? Last time the US went to the middle east at war with two of the poorest nations in the middle east, ending up staying there for over 25 years and fighting until the very day before running away with trillions of dollars in debt. And they were no where near as militarily strong as Iran. History has it, nobody can win a war in the middle east.
@@Rascal696 Are you joking!? Just like they did in vietnam, iraq, and afghanistan...lol maybe you are also forgetting to factor in that both russa and china are firmly now supporting iran.....And the US is already $44 trillion in debt!
Exactly lol they can't "win" nothing. It's just the military industrial complex getting richer, while Americans can't even afford any health care and their own country is a state haha. They sell wars to fill their own pockets.
Not sure, I mean...The US has the obvious capability of inflicting a lot of damage, but definitely doesn't have the capability of sustaining an occupation and change the facts on the ground. Iran has a very sophisticated manufacturing base, a huge population of almost 100 million, a really resilient and fanatical defense force which unlike Iraq can project power all the way to the Mediterranean sea. Not to mention their advanced nuclear program, ballistic missile program, a capable navy, a huge stockpile of rockets and the manufacturing base to produce them. Nope, Iran woul not lose by any stretch of the imagination. And the most likely result of such a war is that everything will be destroyed and the world economy will get hit in a way that was never witnessed in the past.
@itssanti The last time half of Iran's navy was destroyed in 8 hours by the US navy. Iran's air force fly old F5s and old F14s and do not have many of them. Their air defense system is old hawk missiles and S400 systems from Russia are destroyed by Israeli jet every time Syria activates the system. You have missile and drones but those would be destroyed on the ground before you had a chance to launch them.
@@ajaxxx01Yep, that was true over 30yrs ago, when Iran barely had a navy and a radically different war doctrine, and even in that scenario it wasn't defeated. Now things are radically different, Iran now has submarines, speed boats specialized in swarm drills and a far more robust missile arsenal, which are produced inside the country. Back then Iran relied on foreign suppliers. As I said before, the US can inflict massive damage on Iran, but it's also vulnerable to attacks from Iranian drones and missiles all over the region. Right now, Iran can't be defeated.
@@ajaxxx01Another detail I forgot to mention is that Iran is one of few countries who knows it's own weaknesses, they don't rely too much on their air force, rather they rely on their missile capabilities, which are not stationary as landed warplanes. They also have an unknown amount of missile warehouses scattered all over the country, some of them in underground facilities in the mountains, and they also have a pretty impressive military logistics capability. The US and Britain know this very well, that's why I think they won't attack Iran directly in its own territory.

Can someone remind me when America last won a war? Heck, they were kicked out of Somalia by warlords with AK47s. Something tells me this is all very reckless. After America's attempt to take Syria - 3 million refugees headed into Europe. Iran is rather larger ... so what would a 'win' result in?
No you got backwards. When Vladimir Putin invasion in Ukraine failed he got together with his allies. China, North Korea, and Iran and tried to get them to attack America directly. The Chinese declined, North Korea started firing missile over Japan but did not tried to attack South Korea. Iran is one that decided not to directly attack America but did "green light" their "proxies".
because they don,t want to. just as the US should keep to themselves but we don,t. as just like NK and Russia we really dont know every weapon they own so the US backs away
America is losing its own war, the social media war. This is a crucial turning point in history as people are finally waking up and standing against the colonial empires of the west. The American and British influence is losing its strength and they are getting desperate to regain control. Let's not forget all the instability going on in the USA and UK right now. Their own countries are falling apart while their government is focused on global issues rather than the domestic issues. Mass Immigration, Political instability, brink of a civil war and major protests against the governments.
What is the U.S. doing in the Middle East? Protecting international waters, protecting partners in the region. Red Sea is critical for trade between Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Bases in Iraq are needed to prevent Iran back groups from destabilizing it. Now what is Iran doing across the entire region? Trading? Protecting international waters? Iran wants the U.S. and the west off the region as if they own the region. Countries in the Middle East have the right to trade or host wherever nation they wish to host.
They have more claim to their own region than a North American country. Wasn't it JFK who said the US shall be the master of it's own hemisphere? Iran is just following Kennedy's doctrine; The middle-east is Iran's patch and always has been since biblical times.
This guy is a clown.... He also said Ukraine would kick russia out of crimea. Russia was running out of missiles etc USA would lose against Iran, yes their infrastructure would be destroyed but the US would limp home. Clarke has based this on iran Iraq war which was 40yrs ago
Just like in Ireland, Iran has a better connected younger generation that wasn't alive at the time of troubles so this irrational nationalism rings hollow to them. The only thing the government can do is to double down on hard line security measures, but the people are starting to see through it all. Hopefully.
Iran does Not like to go to war or start a war. On other hand, Iran is not alone, able and will defend its territory and allies against any war. Iran does Not hate anyone, stop spreading decietful Lies. There is No winner in any war.
Ireland has a younger generation that is dully brainwashed and has little to no clue of the atrocities committed against the Irish people. Same thing is happening in my country, where textbooks have been hastily edited and rewritten , obscuring five centuries of slavery and systematic genocide,as well as barely mentioning the hardship and the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands that died for the freedom and independence of once proud and powerful nation we were.
Only 20 percent of Iranians support the government But those 20 percent are in the army and government There is a reason why Christianity is the fastest growing religion in Iran. The Iranian government is quite smart. They allow anyone who wants to leave to leave. As a result the people who could lead a rebellion have left the country
And then see their killing as permissable from their clerics as long as it goes undetected so if they go to war and innocent people die they can use that as propaganda to continue to defend their narrative that they are peace makers and defending the people so they can have their reasons to cause curruption and destruction. Taqiyyah (hiding their true beliefs from people) is part of their faith.
yeah. Just like Afghanistan where Taliban and tribesmen in sandals with old Soviet made AK 47's on horses couldn't be defeated by your so called most powerful NATO and the US for 20 years. And what's very important is the cowardly manner in which the US and its cohorts had to flee in the middle of the night on rooftops in helicopters. I thought this scared you and your likes
Certainty of victory in war can never be nailed on. TV progs tell us that the side with the greatest arms manufacturing capacity will always win. Not so. Look at a country of rice farmers (Vietnam) beat the US hands down. America flew in chilled steaks and massive refrigerated containers for their troops yet the Vietcong grew beansprouts at the side of the HoChiMinh Trail.

The US armed forces can certainly defeat the Iranian armed forces. If American politicians select unachievable objectives, as they did in Iraq and Afghanistan, they can still lose.
Agreed. We need to steer clear of “nation building”.
Based on what information ?. The USA hasn't faced a real military since ww2, they have no idea what a real war looks like. Their troops have never been in a real war and neither have their leaders.

Only 20 percent of Iranians support the government
But those 20 percent are in the army and government
There is a reason why Christianity is the fastest growing religion in Iran.
