  • This Ported TB from Soler Performance flows much more air than the stock TB, but it did not make much more power. Weird, check out what we found in testing that applies to all stock Ported TB's on the market. Dyno max HP numbers stayed consistent through all pulls around 575hp to 583hp.

    Awesome video man I'm about to purchase a 2019 cameo with solar performance TB and I'm so glad I decided to look for information before buying it... The fact that Soler Preformace allowed this testing and support it!!! Speaks volumes to me about their products. Yes, I'm a fan for life...

    I am a Chevrolet guy and this is the thing I was told by tuners a few years back with the newer engine ecu settings . They told me it only really made sense to replace the intake and or the throttle body if you were going to tune it or you wouldn't fully get out of the engine what it could do . Hope you have it worked out and are enjoying it now . God Bless

    Its due to which mode the car is set in. Put in race modemode #5 this gives full power.

    You have a Gen V ECM that leverages torque tables and by default will control torque by closing the throttle when the ECM sees higher torque values than it's expecting. Consider this a feature not a bug. You should get a Gen V tune to take advantage of the increased airflow. The TH-cam channel called The Tuning School speaks about GM Gen V's as well as older ECM versions.

    I ordered one as a recommendation from a friend because apparently it helps with daily drivability of the 6M. I daily my car for a few years now so I hope in the lower rpm it just changes how it feels around town.

    That's not bad! another sucessfull throttle body spacer upgrade with documented results of 10-12hp and 10-15ft-lbs of torque! thanks for sharing your test results, I think I've seen enough to go ahead and order a spacer for my Sonata 2.0t!

      @@XxTournaquetxXyou guys who liking this comment are clueless…what makes you think adding a few millimeters for more air won’t do anything??? You know what porting means??? It comes down to millimeters which would be no different than adding 3-8mm to shaving 6-10 millimeters…porting(shaving metal to the mm) TB spacer(adding mm’s of air)

    I have a 2016 camaro ss tuned e85 header car . When I went to a 95mm throttle had to change the throttle body size in hp tuner . So car would run right .

    • @KnightsGarage

      Was that because you were tuned on E85? I was told on a stock SS you could run a ported ZL1 TB with no problems, but i don't know that to be fact. Just what i was told.

    Thanks for the video. This was very a very detailed and informative video which I love. I was wondering if you have tried Solers throttle controller and wondered if that would help considering it overused the factory throttle control. I just bought a Soler throttle controller for my GMC Canyon because it has a dead spot in the pedal on take off. I love how it gets rid of the lag in the low end.

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did and I made a video on it. I can’t remember exactly which setting now but one setting in particular worked pretty well with the throttlebody. I don’t really like throttle controllers because they all just trick the ECU into thinking you’ve applied more throttle than what you really have. That’s how they all work basically. I would much rather have this throttle body that gets rid of the dead spot and improves airflow drastically over stock. People with naturally aspirated engines have reported they get a good power increase out of the throttle body because the computer doesn’t start backing off the throttle angle like it does on the supercharged LT4.

    If you want better response on take off and diminish the bog for the M6, there are only two options to preserve warrranty:
    1. Tony Mamo TB
    2. Green Filter
    This will not give you more power up top, this gives you a BIG GAIN for power under the curve .
    you can use solar as well, just know if the wrong dealer tech or tech manager sees it, you may have a warranty issue...

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you would have warranty issues with Soler you would have it with Tony Mamo. Both are ported stock TB's. I don't see what Warranty issues you would run into for a ported stock TB other than a denied warranty claim on the TB itself. Also i still have my stock intake and TB so if something bad goes wrong i can change the intake and TB in less than 5 min.

    Superb video friend very informative, I installed the new style Soler Performance TB on my 2019 Camaro SS 10 speed last week, I’ve got 250 miles of town /hwy miles on the install , absolutely love this throttle body, though now I’m wondering if when I stab the throttle wide open for an extended amount of time is it going to be to much for the factory tune and go into limp mode, hope not the car is so much more responsive with this throttle body, I’m not running a cold air intake just a drop in K&N filter maybe that will balance the equation . The only con I have noticed so far is that it takes so little throttle for the car to Cruz that it causes the Active Fuel Management to kick in V4 mode more often than before, even at 25mph in my neighborhood . Time will tell
    Great content keep it coming!

      At WOT it locks the tables. I had no codes at WOT, only part throttle accel. Plus the tuning on the N/A SS is verry different than the supercharged LT4. The new version may be great on the SS. Mike at Soler told me he has a couple guys with an SS that have the 95mm LT5 ported TB running with no tune and no issues. Hell the LT4 with the LT5 has to be tuned or it will throw into limp mode with very minimal throttle input. So the N/A cars may be ok with it.

      That’s great info, I’ve been talking with mike last few days also and I purchased one of there throttle controllers In hopes of even crisper more linear throttle response , Soler Performance is a Super Stellar Company, I’m thinking about going with a Roto Fab intake in near future are you running one , if so what do you think about it?

      @KnightsGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@workaholic00772 Yes, Soler is a great company. Yes i have a RotFab intake, you can see it in this video. lol . I also have an install video on it and a video recording the supercharger sounds you get after you install it.

  • @rees3lo
    @rees3lo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So you do need a tune if you get this? There website states otherwise I was thinking the rotofab might have something to make it trip as wel

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don’t need a tune to run it, I was running It with no trouble and it gives you much better throttle feel and response. But it Will not make more power at wide-open throttle past the midpoint of the RPM band without a tune. But that would be true for any intake or throttlebody out there because it’s limited by the factory tune itself.

    Have you tried a pedal commander?

  • @AymanRSaleh
    @AymanRSaleh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if this issue is influenced by traction/stability control and the ECU trying to keep things from getting out of control traction wise? Were they completely off during the dyno runs (i.e. push and hold the traction control button for ~7-10 seconds until the dash says stabilitrack off (assuming the zl1 is like the ss))?

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crazymobst3r yes they were all off. No way it would have allowed a full pull making over 550 to the wheels if it was on at all.

  • @davidsmith4186
    @davidsmith4186 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Do you think the pedal commander could override the factory tune shutting the TB plate?

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No at WOT its WOT. Pedal commander makes no difference at WOT just how fast it gets there. They ramp up the throttle action. If your foot stays at 100% and the ECM tells the actuator to close it will still close.

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a pedal commander doesn't do anything at full throttle. Throttle controllers just fool the computer into thinking you have pressed the gas further than you actually have.

      For getting rid of the dead spot just off idle and smoother throttle feel, yes it’s worth it.
