If you want neutral sound, you're better off with a pair of studio monitors.
S1000MKII sounds "warmer," it definitely has a bit of a boost at low-mid bass. Still, it sounds pleasing, mids are really great, highs are also on point, but lacks that deep(er) bass, however for a 5" it's still pretty good.
R2850DB in comparison sounds a bit "colder", lower mids are definitely weaker than on the S1000MKII, but the bass ofc a lot better, it really kicks thanks to the 8" driver. Highs were too much for me (but you can solve this problem with the treble control), the quality is okay, maybe a bit worse than on the S1000MKII, not sure.
It's a hard pick tbh, both of them are great. I mostly use them for music, overall I ended up preferring the R2850DBs sound. Even if the mids are a bit weaker, I just love the deeper bass, it sounds "stronger", especially at higher volume. However, if you want a warmer sounding speaker, don't mind weaker bass, and mostly listen to music at lower volume, I would choose the S1000MKII.
Imo you can't go wrong with either of these, but we all hear sounds differently, so it's really hard to recommend one over another.
