I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock.

I lean more toward an agreed upon medium/scale for the transfer of value. An inherently more sustainable and efficient system when the medium itself is backed by physical resources or commodities.

Bitcoin is perhaps the only thing I don't agree with Elon on. Money is more than a means of production. For most of us it's a safety net. Bitcoin is even more important for humanity than Tesla and SpaceX. How many people have had governments inflate their life away? Countless cultures and people now. People have the right to a sound money outside the control of governments. Bitcoin is the first time in history that an asset exists that people can control outside their country. It's a really big idea.

Your response comes off like your ego was hurt, and appeal to authority is a logical fallacy, his success has no ties to his knowledge of Bitcoin.
Money has no value when stranded on an island, but in an advanced, well developed economy of scale, money is an absolute necessity to facilitate trade and store value in the most liquid, fungible good.
All that businesses do is generate money and end up investing that money to avoid a loss in purchasing power due to inflation. Bitcoin does not share issue as it is resistant to inflation.

my concern is people selling their BTC to buy the ETF will crash the price of BTC and the ETF as it is based on the value of the BTC that they are holding. will the ETF's buy more BTC as people buy more ETF? Is this addressed?
How long will that go on for though? Eventually ETFs will buy more Bitcoin when OTC supply is done and then they'll go to the miners for more. The price will go up dramatically once the supply everywhere is low/gone.
Your right about this issue, the fear of manipulation...when ETF BTC value supersedes the BTC value but they will get wasted, why, simply because BTC is DEFI....and the BTC is CEFI and they will get wasted ...it will happen, have the cash ready to buy in the dump...
The etf value can't exceed the BTC value because it has to be backed by BTC and now it is regulated for the approved ETF's. My concern is that many well sell BTC actual to buy BTC-ETF. which will crash the price until the trust runs out of coins. I think that has been why both have been dropping. Finally turned Friday so hopefully balancing out.

It's probably around 15% adoption. At that point it's past the early phase and many people start noticing that it's a way to store wealth. With ETF's in place it's trivial for Big money to then move into Bitcoin whenever the Fed wants to manipulate rates undermining their ability to centrally plan the economy. That would be the tipping point where people would either have Bitcoin and keep up or start realizing they are falling behind and then start FOMOing into Bitcoin. I don't expect this to happen for 10-15 years. I HOPE it doesn't happen faster than that.

1373 years ago. China’s Tang Dynasty minted copper coins to facilitate trading. That facility were quite efficiently that Tang spent 2x the cost of 1 coin to mint 1 coin. Why they still do it? Because it was much efficient to mint coins than mining gold. They also realised that as long as the dynasty were RELIABLE people will trust the coins. When people trust the coins they could make lots of them to facility trade and they did and brought about prosperity the world had ever seen.
I find it amusing that so many on the panel and in the comments think that Elon doesn't know everything there is to know about Bitcoin.
He was unwilling to discuss the issue of the necessity of proof of work for a monetary system and was ready to leave the discussion like some butthurt child. He oversimplifies the definition of money as "just a database". Real hard money (like Bitcoin and gold) requires large amounts of energy to produce. He really doesn't seem to ever be willing to acknowledge that in any meaningful way.
Well he clearly doesn't know everything there is to know since he straight up say's he's not interested in discussing the nuances of it. lol. He's a a legit genius, but that doesn't mean he knows every single thing there is to know.

just when I thought I might be getting smarter I listen to this, leaders seem to have good emotional strength/development as well, probably leading to clearer thinking. While I'm a mature person with wife and kids I think I should've worked more on my emotional development when I was younger, in hindsight, as I think this is holding me back from greater outcomes. Just thought I'd be honest with everyone as this was my take away (I already think bitcoin and Tesla will rocket over the years, probably X too).

Would you want it to? Its YOUR currency. We as a community decided to use this system. The rich will be the ones that benefit if the money is all hidden and no taxes are paid, services will be cut. Im not a fan of anything that makes it easier for the rich to hide wealth. Ive paid taxes all my life and value the services the government provides.

I too am confused how an electronic "blip" to be Money. one can make it out of nowhere, as is fiat, it costs fiat however , to buy it? so how is this valued like it is , with a very small crowd paying and accepting this ?
I think the main problem of BTC for Elon is that he cannot control the development of it, but with a Lightning or a Layer 2 project he can build on the bitcoin network something that fits his needs. He should really think deeper about BTC and Layer 2.
Why on btc network when there are far better blockchains that Elon could build on which are cheaper & faster to transact on and is far more scalable today & for the past 5 yrs + already. Elon should build on the XRPL. It even begins with his favourite letter X.

@@frankartale1026money tends to converge on 1 standard. The only reason for bimetallism was due to the impracticality of shaving small amounts of gold for cheaper products. It’s more likely that Bitcoin becomes the single monetary standard as opposed to a ethereum which had a premine, has a roadmap which is maintained by a small centralized group of developers, has hard forked the chain in the past to undo an exploit, + control of the protocol is dictated by how many coins you have and rich can get richer without any work, and it would be likely fail to process any transactions if AWS or infura servers were to be shut down.
The old saying made pretty concrete sense to me, "cash is King". Isn't bitcoin online? What if that system fails, or gets hacked? Doesn't the WEF want the cash system ended & this bitcoin type of system put in its place, cuz cash is too private? Just curious about the ruthless truth about this.
There's a reason (at least) 2 presidents died to stop a central banking system. We can all speculate why but what we know, and can prove, is there has been real progress towards that system.

the new Etfs will lower the value of bitcoin imho because now the big boys are hedging the etfs. No one involved in bitcoin is looking at this angle. Also it’s my experience once something has plateaued as bitcoin kinda has its actually still in a neutral market, not bullish and tell it overtakes its old high of 62,000 or so. imho
The whole world is on a chain, just like the Internet. Once this is achieved, the currency is essentially unified. If you have electricity, you can access the Internet, and if you have BSV, you can access the blockchain. 21 million, no inflation, all spending and income will be BSV. The value created by humans will be reflected in the blockchain, just like all matter cannot escape the universe. This may take 10-30 years to achieve, if Elon Musk can push it, it will be a blessing to mankind

I was surprised at that as well when he threatened to leave the conversation when the panel disagreed with him. Yes, huge! SEC's approval makes everyone and their uncle plus professional investors able to invest in Bitcoin ETFs without having to deal with Bitcoin technicalities and crypto exchanges, and without the regulatory uncertainty. My guess is at least BTC $200,000 in 2024. I'm sort of anti bitcoin and pro distributed technology but this is really exciting I must confess.
They all could have invested already directly into Bitcoin plus already had ETFs available. There is not much demand as most people don't want high risk and a lot of legal issues that comes with it for fund.

It is too energy intensive for comprehension. Gold costs to mine, is a high cost also, but the debate is about how cheap we can make energy available to everyone without negative climate and eco system destruction.
