I love 💕 your gardens! Thank you for sharing. I can’t believe how big your property is. It’s amazing how much you have done in only 3 years. Very inspiring 👏

You have a beautiful home and garden. I don't know how you keep it all so tidy. I have a hard enough time with my 1/4 acre.

Thank you! It is a lot to manage but I do a little every day and have help once a month with weeding. I choose one bed and just work in that one bed to keep it reasonable for me. Otherwise I get overwhelmed with all the different spaces! 🌸

The garden in front of the bridge could become a Japanese-style garden. Coral bark Japanese maples like sun (unlike some others) and provide winter interest, a desirable feature in the front of the garden. There are also adorable small conifers like pinus ‘Sea Urchins.’ You might enjoy some dwarf blue conifers, maybe the blue globe one currently out of stock at Nr Maple. So many options for your beautiful garden. You seem busy so a tranquility garden might be useful. Enjoy the lovely spaces. Hellebores discourage deer.

Love those ideas! Yes it is a great space for a Japanese garden! Thank you and yes! Hellebores work well - they’d be great out in the formal garden don’t you think?

Thank you so much for the garden tour. You have such a gorgeous yard. I can’t imagine the work that must go into upkeep! Also, how do you ever decide which spot to entertain in - so many choices. (I don’t have the last issue, but where would I settle in to read, paint, write, work on photos, etc? ) Lovely, lovely, lovely 🎉💐🌷🌸🌹🌺🪻🥀🌼🪷🌻🌻🌾

Thank you!!! That is the best part - there is never a shortage of spaces to hang. We seem to enjoy different spots different times of the year and even different times of the day (especially in the summer when it’s hot and humid here!)

May I ask, you keep saying you have “hardy hibiscus” 🌺, a term very never heard, and I have two hibiscus plants that I can’t decide where to plant because we can have some awful frost during late autumn, winter, early spring so I’ve been moving their pots back on the deck, under cover, against the windows for warmth. Now I have to get them out of those pots but I worry about frost damage or death (at least we almost never get snow in our northern CA valley). Am I worrying too much or might I just have the sissy cousins of your hardier breed? Thanks, Kate

Hey there! It’s a perennial zoned 4-9. It grows really big and tall - about 4 or 5 feet tall and wide. It’s also known as rose mallow. From your comment it sounds like you may be growing tropical hibiscus? They are more sensitive to frosts.
