When the weather starts to get cold and rainy, Guinness Draught is my go to! Guinness draught is like coffee, Guinness Extra Stout is like espresso. Have a Extra first, then follow it with a few cans of Draught 🍻
Watching this video made me want stout that I recently just stumbled upon... OMG I am in love with the dark smooth taste that it has. It's fall, sweater weather, and drinking an extra stout at home is the most beautiful thing ever....besides corned beef.
@@robertjones4735 - when i am in the mood for a guiness, i want the full bodied experience, and only buy draught, when that is all that is available; always regrettable...

If I wanna get drunk and can't stomach another miller lite, I'll go with Guinness Draught. if I'm trying to have a delicious beer experience like no other, I'ma take 2-3 extra stouts then switch to something lighter.
Love the review and its content. I’m no beer expert but my personal thoughts and preferences after decades of Guinness drinking specifically...I would add the occasion as a factor. Draught is for drinking around strangers at social events when you are being on your good behavior. Extra Stout is when you want to just drink all night with your friends and adult family at your favorite spot. The draught should be thought of like a Guinness Light to remind you to drink it during the day time until dinner. Drink the Extra Stout when the kids have gone home to bed. Draught is more like smooth Guinness heaven water after a couple and its a good starter. The extra stout seems to hold itself together still after several and will keep you at a leisurely pace all night long. I expect my family and friends to bury me with some of both for the long walk home.
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend! You are absolutely correct that the occasion plays into a beer experience so much. Even though some critics could argue that the Extra stout is a "superior beer" in terms of character, flavour, etc, it's the experience of having a draught and the occasion of it all, having a well poured pint at a pub, that will always make it better in our minds.
That’s what I thought kinda lol… the draught was so thick that I couldn’t drink it fast but it was more about the taste. Even if I wanted to chug them, I don’t think I could but at a social event I could see myself drinking 4 of these slowly getting a light buzz and enjoying the taste
Sorry to bother y’all. But have you done one on coors banquet can vs. bottle? I only ask because I can swear there is a big difference in the experience between the two, at least in the original receptacle.
I was buying my weekly Guinness when I ran into a guy who loved Guinness Extra Stout. He said he couldn't do the Draught. I had the only Extra Stouts the store had, so I placed both of them in his cart and grabbed the Draught because I love both. He was surprised with such a young buck liking Guinness.
One wonders what a non-nitro Guinness Draught would taste like. Or a nitrogenated Extra Stout... Time to flex those Diageo connections, guys. I've actually been on an Extra Stout kick lately after pairing it with a homemade Gambian meal, as it is apparently one of the most popular beers in The Gambia.
That's awesome! What was the meal? It's really interesting how the Extra Stout and the Foreign Extra stouts are some of the most popular beers in places like the Carribean and West Africa. Lots of fun history there behind it.

They just started selling it at my local grocery story and the first week I got extra stout then the next week I got draught then this week I’m back at extra stout. I like both so far. I had to TH-cam this since I actually discovered this 3 weeks ago
The Extra Stout is much closer to the original Irish Stout recipe that Guiness made right up until the 2nd world war. The normal Guiness Draught is much more akin to an English Mild with added fizz - the toasted notes of a traditional stout are so muted as to be almost absent, and it's not strong enough to be called a traditional stout (i.e. stouter than a porter). Probably why Gen Z loves Guinness Draught - it is bland enough for them... [oh that will set off fire-works]
What is the difference between Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and Guinness stout? Guinness Foreign Extra Stout - Wikipedia First brewed by Guinness in 1801, FES was designed for export, and is more heavily hopped than Guinness Draught and Extra Stout, which gives it a more bitter taste, and typically has a higher alcohol content (at around 7.5% ABV).
A Guinness stout, a black (Guinness) and tan (Bass pale ale), and a Guinness draught, in that order. In the 80's, In New Orleans, at the end of St Charles Ave, Cooter Brown's Tavern (still there) called that triplet, Stayin'a'while. It had a higher ABV back then and the glass (actual 16 ounce pints) had a clover key engraved on the bottom. One of the bartenders had a 'lavatory key on a wooden ruler' that he'd put on the bar-back where you were sitting. We guessed that the way he turned it was letting him know what to pour next. When he placed it, the key was a different color than the back ground and on your second he would turn it and the key was the same color. On the third he would pretend to hand it to you and then tap the bar with it. It wasn't actually a key to the restroom. I think it had it's roots as 'to go pissing' in the old country meant to go bar hopping. Instead you were just sitting there instead of hopping, so you were just pissing and not going anywhere.
