You know what's surprising in the budget segment, for soundstage, particularly? Tempotec V1 transport (no dac chip) combined with dongle tempotec sonata bhd pro. Cometely out of the head experience, like a big helmet, all around, and the front is very deep, very far in front of you, but it's 3d, it's not a flat plane, the sound extends from just in front of your face, to a great depth, and everything has its position in space, seperate by dark background. It's very tiny, and I reccomend it for someone like yourself for things like camping and hiking, and other things where you want a very small solution, and easy quick charging from portable sources. It definitely beats the m1s, which I have, in all ways, but mine died.. I cannot find another. Still, keep your eyes open, this combo is insane.
Thanks for this quality review. Do you think the difference in between shanling m6 pro 21 and shanling m1s is noticeable ? If we have budget what is the better choice about sound ?
Hi mate, besides the power/headroom difference, M1S will sound considerably meatier and warmer (read: bassier and more mid centric), where M6 PRO V.21 feels more linear and "balanced" sounding. Different strokes for different folks, but I like the new direction Shanling chose to go, getting a fun sound signature instead of a boring one.
Hi Sandu, is the M1S better than most usb dongles off phones? and, can you comment more on the Single Ended output? I'm trying to upgrade from my Q1 and will not use balanced output.
Hi Yannick, the best dongles I tried are Shanling UA5 and FiiO KA5, but to my ears, there is more headroom with the M1S and it still has better dynamics & it's overall better.
@@YannickKhong Not much of a difference vs 4.4mm, the volume goes down by 4 clicks and sound separation is no longer great, but everything else is more or less the same.
Just tried the Edition XS with it via SE, which were okay, I wasn't arriving at max power, but since Ananda are more sensitive I think those should work pretty fine, just don't expect desktop levels of performance.

bravo four video , can you say me how to do a dash 6 for the wifi code , i don't see the logo , thank you
i got one of these for free. The person who had it thought it was useless and i recently got into speakers and fixing older audio receivers due to my love for computers and i still don't know what to do with this song they seem like they are more expensive than just being a mp3 player, what kind of uses are people using this device for
My type of player. Wonder if its eq is good. Because before was bad. The best eq is from Sony. Does not muffle and does not affect volume. Now ,Sony has the lyn lace hope. So I can place the player around my neck and use it in the gym. Wish this player had a case with a strong clip for the shirt so we dont have to use the crap wireless iems.
I'm not an EQ guy, but I tried it with a few tracks. 1) The volume isn't lowering if I'm adding a few dB here and here (to preserve dynamic range) - which I like. 2. The sound isn't muffling, but if you add too many dBs, the noise floor goes up by a little.
@Soundnews that's why Sony and lotoo Paw are the best eq. I am not into eq, too. But when I have 75 iem . And they all not what tuning I want. Then I have no choice. I have this thing. Old iem first until they break. Keep the best ones with the perfect tuning for the end. About eq, you a reviewer. Then review all buddy. Other reviewers only review what they like. They should give full reviews to the audience
Just realized that too, maybe the PCB board was finalized a while ago, and moving it to the other side would add at least a month to the redesign process.
I won't defend the product, that's not my job, but let's be realistic...$229 for an Android device, plus a 2.8" screen (imagine the UI and the icons). That's not going to happen, not at that price and not at that screen size. If you need Android, check their M3 Ultra at double the price - I reviewed that one as well.
Go on review, im only commentin' not attackin'..If ur choices not relevent i just say it..got prob with dat??..Actually handset werk better then ur reviewed dap..peace!
soundwise how it compares to btr7?

I stand between the choice SHANLING M1s or Topping g5. give advice on what to choose
Sounds like a decent dap.l am still rocking shanling m3x as my portable.Thank you.

@@Soundnews are you blind testing before asserting one DAP has X or Y sound signature?
@@pitou115 I'm doing blind tests only when I'm comparing things. Apart from this, I know what how a neutral tuned setup should sound like.

@@Soundnews How does it compare to the Questyle M15?
Thanks. Would Shanling m3 Ultra from 3.5mm overall sound noticeably better?
Is the Shanling m0 pro to m1s worth it?
Does it have a good search function?
Nice review brother...
How is the M1S sound with playing from device itself (not bluetooth mode) compare to BTR7 with iphone bluetooth mode?
One question, do you think It Will run a Ananda Stealth on the SE output well ?

can it be used as a transport only ? (bypassing the DAC)
Yes! (used as a digital transport) via USB. The feature is called "USB Audio Output."
That thing in the ads here says it has Tidal.. And mqa..
Thank you for the review, which think it's a better option to start with a DAP world? This shanling or the ap80 pro x?
Thanks Much !
random miyoo mini in the thumbnail lmao
Can you spot all the goodies in my Shanling M5 Ultra DAP thumbnail? 😅
Interesting. I still struggle to change my old TheBit Opus 2 to m1s. The only thing I'm afraid is the sound will downgrade too much

I personally think the placement is perfect for using it blindly while its inside a pocket. The top controls also help
@@GinsuSher that's not the problem they have to choose a horse top left bottom right ie my m0, up4 are top right.
Typical Chinese mistake, pretty fundamental and critical
Similar to Hiby R3 Pro 2022

Dont understand why they dont use android on their UI, that touch response is laggy as hell and zero app support.
