55 years ago my tech roomates and I would set two Sony 4-track stereo R2R decks side by side and pass the tape from the left machine's supply reel to the right machine's pickup reel, over both sets of record heads and both sets of capstans and pinch rollers. We'd use a mic to record a tone or a brief voice clip on the tape with the first machine; the second machine would play it back. We'd capture that playback with the first machine's mic and record it; that sound would play back on the second machine. We'd let the tape run like this for maybe ten minutes. With each repitition the sound would decay a little bit. After maybe 200 repetitions, the sound was, shall we say, unique - plus deep in a reverb/echo. This is a bit hard on the tape decks, but if you align them properly you can pull it off with no damage. Try it!
It's amazing to me how all the f**ked up sonic crap we spent decades eradicating is coming back. If you like this vibe there are about a dozen Popol Vuh albums you should check out. You want tape hiss? Those albums perfected the art in the seventies.
Yes, I prepared the loops and then I am playing them with modulations on guitar pedals. Reel2Reel is also playing loop but it has 2 min long multiplied on whole tape. Initially I tried as normal loop but it was too long (occupied whole room).
Amazing, soothing sounds man, really nice. Can I ask if you just recorded a certain amount of piano time onto the reel-to-reel as a loop (or not as a loop) from the multitrack, before using another loop as the drone? I'm getting a reel to reel this week and I have a multitrack to use too.
just getting this in my feed but wow this is dope

Wonderful sound design and composition!
Gorgeous 🤍
Great work in this channel, quite underrated, a true hidden gem to be honest :)
Reel2reel, finally. Beautiful tape textures, love it.
really cool stuff, love it
Aside from being really nice (wish it was longer), it’s great for soothing my tinnitus! Cheers. Lee

So relaxing - like your soundscape :) doing similar stuff since a while.. REEL-TO-REEL-LOVE
Nice! :)
Soo nice ❤
Thank you.
Sounds great. Could you walk me though it? You’ve recorded on the 4 track cassette tape then process it in the pedals and finally in the reel??

@@blackcookies thanks for getting back to my question my dear!keep sharing your awesome work🧡🧡🧡
@@blackcookies You need an open-reel machine that runs at 1-7/8 IPS
How did you route them up? Please explain this science🧐

Yes, Akai was a playback for other loops. It was with a simple piano loop/melody
Thank you! @@blackcookies
