She knows how to sing. when it comes to singing, she has genius and charisma. seeing these 20 year old videos of her, there is truly something poignant about them, and of course, about her generally. This is part of her appeal.
The thing I find most incredible is that it took 25 years for Ms. Boyle to make it to the spotlight. How was she missed all these years? Bad luck of not being in the right place at the right time? Ms. Boyle is a great talent and I wish her godspeed in her future endeavors.

i think she sang the Dream song again because it expressed exactly the message that was in her heart for that occasion, the audition and the final, and what sets her apart as a singer, making her more than just a good singer, is the sincerity that comes through, her presence is charismatic. i agree that a different song would've pleased the public eager to hear more from her, but watching her in the final, she was really singing from her heart, just those words. bravo.

What a voice! Even in such a dumpy setting she shines. With some proper orchestral backup, she will whip out this song with the same power she has on Britain's Got Talent. Certainly, over the last 25 years her dramatic range has improved, but this early recording shows she has earned her stripes. She has paid her dues. Can't wait for that first CD and then perhaps a world tour! Yeah!!!
I think she was a family girl, a church girl, and found her joy and comitment there. Now that there's only Pebbles at home and her mom doesn't need her anymore, she's willing to let her light shine for the rest of us. As Amanda said, It's a privilege, Susan!
It's cool. I think they should up the age limit too. There's a friend of mine and he's a great singer but he couldn't audition because he's 30. They did up it after the 1st season, because in the 1st season the maximum age was 24. Well, it seems Susan didn't need Idol anyway. Although, I think it would be nice if she made a guest appearance on American Idol. I know Simon would definitely like that, no joke! We all know Simon loves her too.

This might be my favorite performance of hers. Better than the original. I think that the simple guitar playing actually adds to the song too. Nice simple melody and a great voice.
