What a great instructional video! The loose cable was the problem and I was able to snap it back into place to remove the seat. Thanks so much for posting.

Thanks so much! I just bought a new (to me) 2020. I bought this model instead of a newer one just to take the seats out, and I was panicking because one of the sides wouldn't release. Thanks to your video, I was able to get it out instead of having to bring it somewhere and waste time and money.

Solved my issue by pushing back one of the loose cables as shown in your video. I brought the car to the dealer and the repair advisor in the Toyota dealer asked for $139.99 for diagnosis and two hours waiting in the lobby to get the fixed. I'm glad that I said no and went home to watch your video. Thank you so much!

Thank you very much for this video. I was helping someone move and the seat would not come out. I had no idea what the problem was. I was minutes away from a trip to the dealer when I saw your video. Ten minutes later, the seat was out and the cable was re-attached. Be careful. The Toyota dealers are going to put a hit out on you. You are taking service business away from them! LOL. Thanks again.

Agreed and thank you Harley Neal for the tip. Our seat (2016 Sienna) was wedged onto its track since we bought it 2 years ago, and just now I saw your video and was able to detach the thing and fix the cable issue. Odd that the manufacturer holds these cable ends in place by just pressing the ends into a molded piece of plastic.

This is a life saver, did exactly as you instructed. Used a flat head screwdriver to pop the plastics off after removing the 2 back screws. Chair popped out buttery smooth, thanks!

That was hugely helpful video. One the two cables in the center came out of clip & wouldnt reseat. Used zip ties to hold them in & working great again.

Thanks, solved my mystery! Mine could slide, and back would release, but not front. If anyone else has that situation, it was a loose cable. I titled the seat forward, jammed something under it to hold it up, inserted the cable, and fixed!

wow - had same issue on 2011 - For a 50K+ van, and we can't even remove a simple middle seat. I brought to the dealer and even they cant get it out. Thanks much.

Oh boy! We were about to pull our hair out until we saw your video! UGH! What a tiny problem, we just couldn't figure it out. THANK YOU!

This was very helpful. After following the steps in the video I was able to pull the seats out of my van. I haven't tried to fix the cables yet but the priority for me was to remove the seats because I am going on a camping trip.

Thanks for the video! My seat would not come off the tracks until I figured out how to pull the cable mechanism to release the 4 latches. Wished I saw your video earlier, but excellent work! In addition to the rear plastic cover, I removed the front cover so I could access the front latch releases.

Thank you for the video, you saved a lot of frustration for me. The left front wouldn’t release in my 2017 Sienna, the cable housing had come out of the clip. Your video helped me visualize the issue.

Thanks for this....it was a tremendous help! I bought a used 2012 Sienna a few weeks back and went to take the seats out yesterday and what a nightmare trying to get one out!! Your video saved the day :)

Thank you! I got mine out, much the same way you did, but needed to reattach the cable. Had ti turn and slide in the "T" into the oval first, then click the blue plastic fitting into the slot you show here.

Thanks for your video! At 1:35 I had the same exact problem in my 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Middle seat would no longer recline. Handle to recline seat stopped working. So I took out one screw, tore off a plastic piece covering the recline mechanism, hunted around with a flashlight, and found that (like you) the cable had come out. Just looking at it, it was not apparent that there is a problem. But thanks for your video! My recline cable was hanging out just like yours was at 2:29. Took some effort to snap it back in. So it's not just a Sienna thing, it happens in 4Runners too. Saved me an expensive trip to the dealer.

This is a terrible design. I have had several cables in 2nd row and 3rd row as well pop out of their mount point. Cable ties can help keep them in place in some cases. I believe the dealer actually did this in one case, which really says something about about the shortcomings of this system.
