A tip for ya! Maybe try using E6000 and hot glue at the same time. The hot glue will dry quick and over time the E6000 will dry and make it all safer and easier. Idk I see others do that and it makes sense for both video purposes and to not have to go back later on and reglue it

    • @pryl5040
      @pryl5040 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Melanie P. She does suggest that in some of her videos. I think she doesn't use both when filming because she said she sometimes films parts and then takes the project apart and films again. Using just hot glue makes it easier to take apart and you can usually just peel the dried glue off and start with a clean surface again.

Hey Bethany! If a few of us pitch in $5 each or something, even $1 each, we could get your camera fixed, or a new camera. I'd love to help -- selfishly, I LOVE your videos and want you to be able to keep making them! :)

Woman of a Certain Age Hey love! I saved up money just in case something like this happens. I called Canon support though and got it to work. Idk what the problem was but they walked me thru some trouble shoots and one worked. 😁 I appreciate the want to help though!! 😊😊😊

what a kind gesture, and her humble reply showed what an honest person she is. I love seeing this. ill be subscribing now. We should also keep in mind that people make youtube videos hoping to eventually make money, some think because we dont have to that means we shouldnt and thats not a good way to think. same a waitresses ect we dont have to tip but we should tip well after all they are taking their precious-time away from other things to provide entertainment for us.

You did it again!! So creative. On the candlesticks where you're using a brush 2 paint on the gold along the edges u might try the new paint pens that DT is carrying. 4 sure it comes in gold & it might be easier 2 use than a paint brush. Not sure, just an idea

The bottom part of the Candlestick is done by splatter painting. One of the easiest ways to do it is dipping a toothbrush into your copper paint and then flicking it with the back of your thumb. Another way would be to take a paintbrush dip it in your paint and tap it onto another object (like a pencil or something like that) making the splatter go onto the candlestick. 😊

You poor thing ...your allergies seem so bad! ....I get them terrible too and find that rinsing nose with sea salt water ...using breath right strips at night and using visine for allergies really helps ...the visine for allergies helps with eyes and nasal issues as the two are connected ....if you decide to try these I truly hope it helps you too ......and your videos are always fantastic and this one is too!!! Thank you ...take good care

Hi Bethany 🙂 Once again, creativity galore- thanks so much for sharing with us!
As for allergies, try eating a spoonful of local honey. It helps many people, almost like a homeopathic treatment. Make sure it is made locally, though, so it covers the allergens in your area. It’s worth a try, since you’ve been suffering for several days. My prayers are with you, as I went through the same thing back in the spring. 😢🙏🏻
    God bless! 😇

It's called leafing.. you use glue let it dry for about 10 min. Then place a gold leaf where adhesive was applied. It done in copper, gold and silver. Girl, I bet you would kill it in leafing! DIY TUTORIAL ON THAT!!!

Is there a link to the anthropology site that you are DIYing from? I love them all. I personally might have sprayed the flowers on the stem and then pulled them off and glued. I say this because I don't think someone could have got the spray paint around all of the flowers as well if you wouldn't have done it the way you did, which I think turned out amazing. I just think that if you glue them to the frame and then tried to spray paint every area of the flower you'd end up with a lot of dripping and that can ruin a DIY. You did an amazing job thank you for sharing and congrats on 300, 000 subscribers!!❤️🤩👍

If you spray paint something silver and want the mercury glass look, put alcohol in a spray or spritz bottle and spray until you get the desired effect. Now, if you spray something another color, like the white you used and then try that, I don’t know what would happen. As always, use a test product before doing the real thing. Good luck! 😊👍🏻

You have done it again my favorite you tuber! So so beautiful ! I know your wedding is going to be absolutely fabulous ! I am old and I really don't know what this anthropology stuff is ...now don't laugh at me....I will investigate this because your designs today . Love love love them all! The change in the gluing of the candle sticks with the mirror and then painting them was beautiful . The mirror wall decor magnificent yet so simple. The flowers on the mirror so beautiful ! Your allergies have you tried any medication or do you want to go natural . In the meantime try with a carrier oil like olive oil. In a small bottle maybe 6 tablespoons olive oil add 15 drops of peppermint 15 drop eucalyptus maybe 10 drop tea tree essential oils. Try to in hall the oils often . And rub the oils on your temples. Make sure to avoid the eyes . Maybe a little under your nose on your neck and chest . This may help tame your allergies . Also look up to see if there are other essential oils that help with allergies and you may make another combination never more than 3 in a combination . The peppermint has helped mine and my daughters allergies . I use a defuse with these three oils almost every day . But if your allergies are too far gone I and my daughter have been given by the doctor predizone. It really works well. I also along with my daughter have asthma and have been in a like or death situation where I had no choice but to take this strong medication . I do use an inhaler daily that has it in it which has made my like so much simpler . I hope you feel better. Thank you for what you do. You brighten my day!

Ok I'm trying to make the gold mirror. How does the mirror with frame how is it glued to the candle stick which is painted gold?

  • @sylviaseri4235
    @sylviaseri4235 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Try Rub n Buff. Its a cream paint in a tube. Comes in gold, silver, etc. You squeeze the paint on your finger and highlight what you want. I use it often to highlight raised areas on frames. It would be nice on the candlesticks you used the makeup sponges on. Great work. Love the mirrored wall art especially. TFS.

Hey, just wanted to say that I love your videos. They're so inspiring...on the candlestick obstacle, I know painting and there's a technique called "dry-brushing"...mostly used to skies in paintings. What you do is you take a dry brush, dip it in paint and then wipe it on a towel before you apply. It leaves a sheer coat of color without saturating the background color. You can practice on paper before anything like objects but it usually turns out depth-giving to painting and objects alike. Hope this helps! Keep up the awesomeness! Peace.

To make Mercury Glass you will need Looking Glass spray paint and a spray bottle with a mixture of water & Vinegar that you spray on while the paint is wet. Giant bath sponges with big holes...
If you dry paint with one of those, you'll get that blotchy paint look you were attempting on the candle sticks...
Cut the sponge to fit your hand perfectly, then dip the sponge in paint and blot it a few times and apply lightly... I use that method every time...
Martha Stewart taught me that when I was 12 on PBS

Another fun DIY video!! Super ideas. For the paint thing, you may want to try wetting the sponge and squeezing most of the water out, leaving the sponge moist. Then try dipping the moist sponge lightly in the paint ans stippling the paint on that way. For me, the small amount of water dilutes the paint enough to get a softer, more subtle application, if that is what you are looking for.
Your videos are awakening my creativity, and I love it.
Good luck with your camera!!, and thanks for the inspiration!!

If I'm not mistaken I think spraying it with vinegar will mimic the mercury, but not sure if it would work if you added paint to the vinigar...?

There is another TH-camr I watch who spray paints flowers for her crafts, but she keeps the flowers on the stems before she paints them. Maybe that will help for next time?:) Love your diys!!

I love 💕 all of them and you make it so easy for us to follow the simple instructions to make beautiful things with little effort! The mirror is absolutely gorgeous and I’m going to try to make it myself! Mind you, I have a hard time just making a wreath 😂😁!

I would have like if at the end of the video you could have done a split screen of each project and the retail price of the inspiration vs the cost of the DIY and maybe how long it took to complete the project. I'd like to see the actual inspirations you used.
Great job. Glad you got your camera working again. Have a great week. Thank for sharing your ideas.

To do the mercury glass, you need two types of spray paint. A mirror finish metallic spray paint and whatever color you with it. Also would need a mister bottle with a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar. Mist your glass lightly before spraying on the mirror paint. Let it dry a bit, then gently dab it with a paper towel. Mist again with water, then spray with the colored spray paint (light coat) and again dab it lightly with a paper towel. The mirror paint should be shining through where the water droplets were. It might take some experimentation to get it just right.

Bethany, the technique on the candlestick is called dry brushing. I haven't checked but I think you could find an example here on TH-cam. Great Job on the knock off.

I would have liked to see what ur inspiration pieces looked for comparison. I was going 2 suggest u spray paint ur pieces w/metallic paint then use the vinegar/water and spritz on immediately then dab w/paper towel. Someone had similar suggestion.

Once again great DIY's. I am gonna try these but use silver spray paint instead. I really like silver better than gold and it would match the blue in my bathroom where I want to use the mirror on my vanity. Love you girl. Keep up the great work!

I know it might prove difficult in recording; use a large box turned on it's side to help contain the flowers & paint. Makes a miniature paint shop. Just be careful not to be too close on windy days or you might get it back in your face.

I think spraying the flowers gold and then gluing them like you did is better. It would be hard for me to visualize if it looks good while the flowers are still pink. If I paint them and then glue them, I feel like I wouldn't have to worry about repositioning them if it doesn't come out the way I want. All of your projects are awesome!

Your decorating is beautiful I love it. For the mercury glass look you could try a spray paint called looking glass. Paint on the underside of the candle holder but first dab or speckle with black paint then spray over the black it will give it a aged mirror look. Keep up the great ideas.

Love them. The candle holders are great. I found the picture you referred to. You might get a better shine with metallic marker help you. The bottom would hard to match from the DT but if you had gold sheets it would match very well. But I definetly see what you were trying to accomodate (great job)
