I really, really, really hope the Developers add an Insect/Insectoid race to the game. Similar to the Kirko. I just love Insect races, and Fantasy settings don't have enough.

I might be wrong, but I think the surrounding provinces glowing green and the icons being colored in when you click on your city means you have unused capacity for province claiming. Pretty sure you got it the same turn you paid to expand twice so it got lost in the shuffle.
I was planning a similar empire build once the game comes out. But instead of good, I will go neutral for more bonuses for positive stability and I will take the imperialist trait for the gold and stability bonus.

@@Psunabudes In AoW3 ranged attacks always hit, but falls off in damage the further away you are, or if the enemy is behind cover. It's one of the benefit of AoW3, to be honest. It makes battles much more precise, without any chance-based mechanics. Percentage to hit was only introduced in later expansions, and only for the halfling races, where supposedly it is due to the halfling's 'luck'.

This faction looks really powerful I think I'd probably make snow elves with a high culture like the falmer in elder scrolls before the nordic invasion.
Don't underestimate archers in early game, they might be not the strongest unit to win the toughest battles, but they are a key tool for passing through easy battles with minimal damage.
Was going to watch, but I was planning to play a generic order human with high or feudal culture in my first run which will likely be almost identical to yours. So I won't spoil it. May still watch it later after wrapping up my first game.
I love the video and the introduction to the game! I think that you can mess with the hot keys in the menu by clicking where it said “keybindings” under the main tab
7:20 They are not aesthetic choices actually, just because you can customize the traits fully DOESNT mean that the "body type" doesnt come with its own unique traits.
i will admit that i am really annoyed that we can't actually pick the size of the map for ourself. if i want a huge map with only 3 people for me and my friends to explore? then i make a huge map for 3 people.
Scouts are useful entire game, park them near enemy locations, they have higher sense range then any other class. Allows you to see your enemy advancements to your domains.
I think they should put in an intrinsic trait set for each race, in addition to having custom traits so you can have specialized flavors of races that are still distinct. I'm also looking forward to other races potentially being added; wolves, avians, and lizards/draconians among others.
I love how AoW4 looks like Triumph is applying everything they've learned so far into it, artistic and gameplaywise, everyhing i see about the game is a step up from 3 and planetfall, and i want to put some emphasis on the artistic direction because, i know i'm gonna sound mean, AoW3 was the "TES4 Oblivion" of the AoW franchise and the character models didn't look that great even though the gameplay was pretty fun. I'm always a bit skeptical about any new game releases, but i can't help feeling excited for AoW4.
Good comparison, you're right. They've finally done something about the core aesthetic, it really feels modern. I think that's half of its success, because the dynamic itself is not that much different (apart from some really fresh stuff, most of which isn't exactly front and center), but people are much more willing to play it.

Damage doesn't scale with the number of models strictly speaking. Stronger units often have less models even. It's a similar system to Civ, where damaged units lose models and deal reduced damage. This game calls these Casualties. Units that have less models are less affected and singular units such as giants are immune. What this does is incentivise attacking with ranged attacks before engaging in melee as any retaliation is reduced meaning you come out on top in an exchange.
I would have my race be Goblin. The culture would be either F or High or Mystic. Then I pick one of the order civics and then one of the Nature ones. I would make my ruler a Champion, and make it a female goblin and name her Minn.
im jealous beyond belief, i been avoiding everything AoW related even ending my long lasting planetfall campaign to stop myself from being overhyped while i wait for the game to launch
"a few powerful stacks" beats the definition of common. Common, by definition, is what you usually meet, 90% of the time (or more). Unlike UNcommon, rare, exceptionnal.
sure "a few stacks" isn't common, but having common mean 90% makes for kinda boring maps. Should probably more in the 30% - 50% range. So still more common than anything else, but you actually see something else to
Ummm...i don't know for sure, as I don't have the game; You say there's no hot keys as you look through the options. But I seen "Key bindings" option on the main option screen
slightly sad that there is a proper Evil playstyle but Order is mostly vassal focused.. would prefer if there is more such as how some other games did their Light spells (damage vs undead) or maybe Pyromancy + Order gives something like a damage dealing sun-spell against all enemy types
I rather preferred the "candy cane" look of 3, akin to HoMM3; everything looks so dark in this. Do you know if you can still launch an attack using your fastest unit in the world map, even if your other units don't have any movement left?
@@dnaseb9214 I found it clunky, unresponsive and unimpressive to look at. The price was also way too high. Spellforce CoE was cheaper and far more impressive in all respects. Honestly it seemed like few resources were spent on it.

Yeah they are very difficult to see by default. If you select any province you get highlighted borders though.

I think its the case that the city cap doesn't stop you having cities, it just gives you penalties to upkeep
Yes it reduces city resource production. I think it's -30% but might be remembering it wrong.

Too early to tell. Planetfall is awesome and I imagine AoW4 will prove to be as well. Early impressions are good.
