Just bought a 2511 today. There are two versions, a 2511P and a 2511PN. The "N" has a "Nano bar and chain". Mine doesn't have that. Just wondering exactly what the difference is.
You should’ve gotten the nano as it cuts faster and if you buy new then you would’ve paid like $10-$20 more but you still buy the kit for an additional $80-$90 dollars. The speedcut nano is a 0.43 gauge .325 pitch which is smoother.

The Echo 355T is the same size as the 2511 but a much larger motor. It would have been much faster than the 2511, which was much faster than the MS-150. You should compare the Stihl MS-201 to the Echo 355T; both around 35cc.
Once again, echo people picking a well known turd to compare to. Let me have a crack at that competition with my saw and see where the echo places. It is flattering to stihl that they are always trying to compete with them though. I know, next why don't you do the 201 with all the emittions crap on it, that will make echo feel really good about themselves! Lol
Stihl Ms180 crap, Stihl BG86 blower is rubbish, have a stihl Kombi unit, that sucks as well. So many starting issues ans poor build quality on switches in particular. 28 degrees last week, not crazy hot. Blower wouldn't start, Kombi engine would not start. No problems from my Husky 550XP. Had it with Stihl, not what they were two decades ago. No looking at Honda, Echo & more Husky products.
Not to mention stihl's trimmers/brushcutters. The ones I've encountered are amazing: over-priced, over-weight and over-rated compared to Husqvarna, Tanaka, Echo. Really pretty, delicate plastic moldings, with pathetic performance. Their blades are also highly over-priced and under-performing. Somehow fanbois keep shelling out. No thanks. Dolmar/Makita saws much preferable to stihl for bang/buck, as are Husqy/Echo.
I have echo cs301 saws and cs3400, cs3000 top handle saws from the 90s and they still rip thru wood every week. The echo cs2511 is the best top handle saw out right now.
Just for anyone who doesn't actually know but it is technically illegal to use a top handle saw like that. a top handle saw is not a ground saw so any injury with it while being used on the ground won't be covered by any kind of insurance
Stihl guy wasn’t angling right, don’t come at me if you don’t even know how to run a saw. I run chainsaws 1,000+ hours a year, the operator is a big part of the saws performance. Just like miluakee vs dewalt videos. Miluakee guy is always putting more pressure in. It’s half of the operators performance.
This kind of comparisons are childish. And I think if you are a pro you want your saw to be, mainly, reliable. Their difference in speed means nothing if you are not a good pro.
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
The homeowner grade saws are almost impossible to work on. Very bad design decision by stihl. I understand the business reasons but they lost a customer with me. I now own makita, homelite, husqvarna and stihl. I used to only own stihl until I tried to work on the lower cost units and started to hate the whole company for fucking the consumer over.
I mean maybe or you’re talking completely out of your ass because both of those chainsaws are in different classes the 2511 is supposed to be a 150 the 2511 is comparable to the 194
Echo is taking the market by storm and the deserve the sales they're making. Stihls are always on the bench my huskies and echos just get sharpening and cleaned.
Well the chain could be dull. The 2511 or more similar to the 194. I have the 194 and I love it. I do agree tho stihl is annoying not only because of the price but because they make their chains bs odd sizing so it’s not as easy finding a chain for your saw unless you go to a dealer where every other brand just uses universal chains so you can literally go online and buy packs for cheaper without having to dive deep into researching for a specific chain
There is some diferences ,good fun, i have never sharpen a NEW chain, i know some people argue that they can make them sharper even filin by hand,, good luck.
That's nothing there is a video of a guy up a tree barfoot, no shirt, no ppe on whatsoever....and he is one handing a a husky 390. So anything is possible I guess
I had the cs280e and the cs280evl from echo then had to get a replacement and went with stihl 020. The stihl was a bit heavier but was easily twice as fast as the echo's. In fact it was a breakthrough of the day as it even out performed most saw in the small to medium size range. At that time husqvarna were prohibited from making top handle saws so the only good choice was a stihl.
I own both saws and here is my honest opinion. The Echo 2511T Its lighter and more powerful by a smidgen and it feels great in one handed use when its new. What I dont like, the air filter system is weak after just a couple hours the filter is covered in dust. The antivibe system will not last very long at all either. The MS 150Tc what I like, its very refined. They didnt cut corners on this saw at all...antivibe is solid...air filter stays cleaner. Even though a little heavier its still great for one handed use, my 201Tc gets heavy in that situation. The only thing Im not a fan of is the bar, the kerf is a little narrow and I feel it causes the chain to wear faster but this I can live with because my dealer is very reasonable on chains. If youre gonna use a saw simply to work on your own property get the Echo and just clean the filter after use, its a little more capable and you wont have to reach for the heavier saw as often. If you plan to make money with it, get the Stihl, its only $110 more and will last 10 times longer without major work needing done to it. Get a 550xp husky too :)
The Stihl Fanboys.... lmao. Seriously. Someone could post a video of an ms201 getting its ass handed to it by a 372xp, and the Stihl fanboys would come crawling out of the woodwork claiming that they could tune the 201 to win the race! Good God
One year warranty and is a toy compared to a stihl. I use the 201tc and love it with a 14"bar, flawless operation and solid build. Echo makes a good saw for home owners or part timers, but for constant professional use, go stihl or huskvarna, depending on the one you like the feel of more.

That Stihl needs carb work. Super unresponsive to initial throttle response & had a hard time staying in power band within the cut. Which in my opinion echo reigns supreme in that division regardless ( and only that division lol ). But Stihl should have been somewhat a competitor & not made to look like a total amateur. With carb adjustments & being stock I will say again I think echo takes the W but I believe Stihl could put on some pressure unlike what this video showed.
