    *Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*

    Just bought a 2511 today. There are two versions, a 2511P and a 2511PN. The "N" has a "Nano bar and chain". Mine doesn't have that. Just wondering exactly what the difference is.

    • @blackheart9068

      You should’ve gotten the nano as it cuts faster and if you buy new then you would’ve paid like $10-$20 more but you still buy the kit for an additional $80-$90 dollars. The speedcut nano is a 0.43 gauge .325 pitch which is smoother.

    The Echo 355T is the same size as the 2511 but a much larger motor. It would have been much faster than the 2511, which was much faster than the MS-150. You should compare the Stihl MS-201 to the Echo 355T; both around 35cc.

    Once again, echo people picking a well known turd to compare to. Let me have a crack at that competition with my saw and see where the echo places. It is flattering to stihl that they are always trying to compete with them though. I know, next why don't you do the 201 with all the emittions crap on it, that will make echo feel really good about themselves! Lol

So many starting issues ans poor build quality on switches in particular. 28 degrees last week, not crazy hot. Blower wouldn't start, Kombi engine would not start. No problems from my Husky 550XP. Had it with Stihl, not what they were two decades ago. No looking at Honda, Echo & more Husky products.

      Not to mention stihl's trimmers/brushcutters. The ones I've encountered are amazing: over-priced, over-weight and over-rated compared to Husqvarna, Tanaka, Echo. Really pretty, delicate plastic moldings, with pathetic performance. Their blades are also highly over-priced and under-performing. Somehow fanbois keep shelling out. No thanks. Dolmar/Makita saws much preferable to stihl for bang/buck, as are Husqy/Echo.

    Stihl guy wasn’t angling right, don’t come at me if you don’t even know how to run a saw. I run chainsaws 1,000+ hours a year, the operator is a big part of the saws performance. Just like miluakee vs dewalt videos. Miluakee guy is always putting more pressure in. It’s half of the operators performance.

    I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

      The homeowner grade saws are almost impossible to work on. Very bad design decision by stihl. I understand the business reasons but they lost a customer with me. I now own makita, homelite, husqvarna and stihl. I used to only own stihl until I tried to work on the lower cost units and started to hate the whole company for fucking the consumer over.

      Well the chain could be dull. The 2511 or more similar to the 194. I have the 194 and I love it. I do agree tho stihl is annoying not only because of the price but because they make their chains bs odd sizing so it’s not as easy finding a chain for your saw unless you go to a dealer where every other brand just uses universal chains so you can literally go online and buy packs for cheaper without having to dive deep into researching for a specific chain

    I had the cs280e and the cs280evl from echo then had to get a replacement and went with stihl 020. The stihl was a bit heavier but was easily twice as fast as the echo's. In fact it was a breakthrough of the day as it even out performed most saw in the small to medium size range. At that time husqvarna were prohibited from making top handle saws so the only good choice was a stihl.

  • @EgoDragon1988
    @EgoDragon1988 6 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    I own both saws and here is my honest opinion.
    The Echo 2511T
    Its lighter and more powerful by a smidgen and it feels great in one handed use when its new.
    What I dont like, the air filter system is weak after just a couple hours the filter is covered in dust. The antivibe system will not last very long at all either.
    The MS 150Tc what I like, its very refined. They didnt cut corners on this saw at all...antivibe is solid...air filter stays cleaner. Even though a little heavier its still great for one handed use, my 201Tc gets heavy in that situation.
    The only thing Im not a fan of is the bar, the kerf is a little narrow and I feel it causes the chain to wear faster but this I can live with because my dealer is very reasonable on chains.
    If youre gonna use a saw simply to work on your own property get the Echo and just clean the filter after use, its a little more capable and you wont have to reach for the heavier saw as often. If you plan to make money with it, get the Stihl, its only $110 more and will last 10 times longer without major work needing done to it. Get a 550xp husky too :)

    That Stihl needs carb work. Super unresponsive to initial throttle response & had a hard time staying in power band within the cut. Which in my opinion echo reigns supreme in that division regardless ( and only that division lol ). But Stihl should have been somewhat a competitor & not made to look like a total amateur. With carb adjustments & being stock I will say again I think echo takes the W but I believe Stihl could put on some pressure unlike what this video showed.

      I've been a professional 35 years and have used many different brands of saws favorite top-handle saw of all-time 200t I bought the 2511 3 weeks ago and have used it every day fires right up every time and runs perfect this is a excellent top-handle saw besides the 200t probably the best one I've ever used power-to-weight cannot be beat it may look like a toy but it's definitely not durability it's definitely not the 200t you can't be throwing this around but you don't want to do that anyways with your saws should take care of all of your saws before anybody puts this saw down I encourage them to buy one and run it they will have a totally different opinion then I know I do

      Even if it's an inferior product? There's a weird culture following behind stihl tha t I don't get. They're overrated

    • @scaf_007vs3
      @scaf_007vs3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why? Some stihl products are better than other comparable brands and vice versa. I have no problem maintaining brand loyalty, but why not keep them honest and just admit when another brand is better? Competition is good for the world and promotes improvement for the people that depend on tools like this and so many other professions.

    • @scaf_007vs3
      @scaf_007vs3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crystalaquatica6402 Not overrated, it's just some people have a tendency to defend a brand even when it doesn't make logical sense. I've owned many many many stihl top handle saws, the latest being a few MS 194T, before that numerous 193t, 192t etc. Those saws were not overrated in the least, of course each not without their own shortcomings. Of course the same goes for all the other big names in the category, some better than others.

      @@brettdowler3533 My experience is that professional tools dont need warranty. Only crappy tools have 10 year warranty because they know that enough people will not bother to come back for another.

    What specific bar, chain, and sprocket have you used on the 2511? I am looking doing similar but will have to order from overseas, so you may be able to help me narrow down what to order?

      Kai shred - it should be in the description but you need - 1/4 inch pitch spocket, 1/4 inch pitch chain, 0.043 gauge.
      Hope that helps ☺

    The cs-2511 should be put up against the 201t or the 193t not the 150. Its like comparing an ms 460 to an ms 260.

      No. The 150 is the direct competitor to the CS2511. The Echo CS 360 is the competitor to the Stihl 201.
