I love how this version sounds so desperate. The original is like "#yolo I do what I want" and this one sounds like a person is trying to legitimize theirselves in front of themselves.

This is probably my favorite pgp cover. It feels genuine and it's relatable. Also the part when he sings, "Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world. I wanna be the one to walk in the sun," always gets me. It sounds amazing and it's extremely true.

Listening to one artist and saying everything else is shite is a very close-minded thing to do. I mean, I listen to many different types of rock(to be specific, my top 5 include Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, The Killers, Pearl Jam, and Manchester Orchestra(no specific order)) and rap/hip hop/pop/R&B don't really suit my tastes, but I don't go around calling it the worst thing in exsistence. Why? Because I recognize that there is some serious talent in those genres and that it's just not my type of music. That's the point I'm getting at; because it's not your type of music, doesn't mean that it's a load of shite.
the biggest problem about punk goes pop is that most of the bands just do crap covers that are exactly like the original songs, instead of putting their own style in it. That being said, we can only appreciate the amazing job The Maine did with this song. It sounds just like them, you can picture it as a The Maine song since the very start. It's perfect! idk really but until now, the only covers i really enjoyed were this one, Boyfriend by Issues (michael sounds incredible omg haha) and Blame It by Of Mice & Men (all their covers have this omam feeling). These bands were able to make those pop songs seem like one of their heavy screamed stuff to be honest so that's it congrats to them because this is just so good to listen to

I actually like this a lot. It may be slower and stuff, but they aren't really a punk band. Plus it's just called Punk Goes Pop, because it's catchy and it's still close to punk in a way.

Hands down, The Maine is one of the best bands ever.
So, I saw these guys live, but had never heard them before. So for the month leading up to the concert I started listening to them. I must say I wasn't a big fan at first, but after a while I really got into some of their songs and actually started liking them. Then I saw them, and it was probably the worst live act I've ever heard, maybe it was just an off night for them, but it was a complete let down. So I thought this cover might actually get me listening to them again, and I must say this is one of the least inspiring sounding songs I've ever heard. No offense to all you, who love these guys, but I think I've given them one too many chances.

This cover makes me think of a boy that genuinely fell in love with a girl, but realized that he was "just fun".
