It's when a person dies that people ,even if they were foes or always argued weep! He was sensitive, helpful, loved people ,worried for his family and others. A good character . R.I.P Jamie Mitchell
Think if I was in Jamie's place, I'd want to know there was nothing more could be done for me, rather than all my family knowing but no one telling me.
The year was 2002 I was just starting college. I remember going on holiday at the time coming home and he was still dying long enough to hold out to die on Christmas day and break all our hearts . 💔
In my personal opinion Pauline & Peggy have some of the best lines, sadly right up until Jamie’s death. Pauline’s lines about “Hope” & Peggy’s lines about “Love” . Eastenders at its best 🙏❤
Well, I don't watch it anymore now either, but here's a sort-of update. Sonia married Martin (?) and then cheated on him with a woman, and she also whacked Pauline on the head with a hard object, contributing to Pauline's death.
Why did Sonia automatically think he was actually sleeping. He can still hear. You would think she would say it outside the room (if they didnt want him to know)
The plan to not tell Jamie that he was dying was flawed from the start really wasn't it. They all couldn't have made it any more obvious that something wasn't right in front of him, especially Robbie and Billy.
I like to think Jamie would’ve stood up for Ben and also Jay when Phil treated them horribly, and would be likethe caring older brother protecting them and Louise 🥺
I have remembered the episode of Christmas eastenders 2002 when billy and little mo got married I watch it and celebrate it with a little glass of whisky
Well, Sonia went on to have an affair with ( and marry) the man who’d run Jamie over in the first place (Martin), and then went on from THAT to cheat on Martin with a woman! The mind boggles, tbh.
Meh thing is him and Jamie had his moments. He sort of looked up to phill in some way. Thing is with family you can go through all the drama and stupidness but there always love there. Was a very sad ending to Jamie in this storyline. I think the crazy thing about it even Billy Mitchell was super horrible to Jamie before in the past….
I think everyone wanted to give Jamie a peaceful goodbye and not stress him out considering the condition he was in. But Jamie would soon tell that he is dying
I don't care what anyone else says. Yes this was the death of a *character*, yes this is a soap, yes this is not real would anyone like a gold star for always saying it's fake? As Dennis Rickman would say Well Done, Gold Star. This death of Jamie was the saddest and most emotional that Eastenders have ever pulled off. Yes we've had really sad deaths afterwards of say Dennis, Bradley, Pat, Peggy etc.. However... Jamie's death was really well written by Eastenders, here's this young man who has the girl he wants, has made up with his family, his world is finally looking up.. And then... It's cruelly taken away from him by the recklessness of another character who was irresponsible with his driving. The way Eastenders showed these scenes with Sonia/Jamie, Jamie/Billy/Phil, Jamie/Phil, Jamie/Billy heck even Jamie/Robbie/Sonia, Eastenders really tugged at the heart strings with Jamie, I ain't ashamed to say this either but even 15 plus years later this to me is still the saddest death that I've ever watched and welled up all over again, and personally.. I don't think anything will come anywhere near close to this.
Watching this for the first time since the episodes aired (here in the US, where we're years behind), has me bawling just as hard now as I did back when I first saw them. 😭😭😭

Jack Ryder wanted to leave because he wanted to purse other projects. The then executive producer John Yorke left the door open for Jamie to return in the future but when the new executive producer Louise Berridge came in and killed him off
Basically Bex is Martin's father, Sonia became 'pregnant' in 2002 but turned out she wasn't pregnant much to Jamie's delight but to Sonia's dismay. There was going to be a storyline in 2003 where Sonia would be pregnant with Jamie's baby but instead the storyline involved Kat getting pregnant
Or Billy cousin. I can't recall now, he was originally bought into E.E by Billy I think?? I know that Phil was vile to him, then took him under his wing. They may have been 2nd cousins?

What a cheerful Christmas day episode to lift everyone's spirits.
It was nice to see Jamie get referenced during Lola’s funeral episode. I honestly feel the dead get forgotten quite easily in EastEnders.
The most heartbreaking scene of EE ever, still makes me cry.

I’ve been watching the Jack Ryder episodes of Holby. The sign of a brilliant actor, if they can make you believe they are that character.
