Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your attitude toward the animals. I have seen many tourists who feel it is their right to see wildlife or who believe wildlife should perform for them. This includes: stomping into areas, making all sorts of noises trying to provoke a reaction or throwing things in the hopes of having an "experience". Similar to your preview video for this trip where you say you don't know if you have the skills to capture the animals, this is a sign of respect for the animals and the area you are in! Keep going with your passion.
That scene with the leopard lying under the tree actually made me emotional. Incredible filmmaking, soundtrack and photograph. I live for this kind of video! Thanks Tom!
Looking into your eyes, one can see the passion, love ,and excitement of the moment. The challenge of capturing the image can be felt thru your words and expressions. You truly bring Namibia alive, as if we were there with you. Thank you for allowing us to join you on this great venture, Be safe and love the time you have in Namibia.
Another top video. Very different to your usual wet and cold treks out for stunning landscapes. It definitely looked more comfortable. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant video and great opportunity. These are the moments that despite being "work" related are payback for all your hard work over the years becoming the talented gent that you are. Looking forward to more.
Just completed 2 trips this year to Namibia and I found it to be a beautiful rugged country with friendly people and great photo opportunities. Glad you had a good trip as well. Etosha is a fantastic park with unique wildlife adapted to the desert like dry conditions.
I love the new slowines you develped over the last videos. Oh and that portrait is one of the grestest leopard images I have seen! Absolutely brilliant
Awesome video again Tom! Big cats are incredible to see, no matter what. Also, as an avid birder/wildlife photographer, one thing I love about my 5D4 more than my 1DX2 is the wonderful crop factor in 4K which everyone else seems to hate. Having that extra 1.7x goodness is fantastic for filming wildlife. I loved your video clips of the cats, beautiful! I can't wait to see the rest of your trip.
I though you were gonna cry when admiring that leopard...It felt truly emotional! I've had the same feeling with whales, just stop and watch how beautiful it is. Great vid again!
I just recently subscribed, and I am so glad I did. I appreciate that you share not only technical points but also your thought processes as you approach your shots. Thank you for sharing, and the black and white of the Leopard with the light in its eye was spectacular.
Absolutely love this video......brings back so many memories. I was born in the UK but left when I was 15mths old and moved to South Africa, I have since returned back to the UK (1994).....i still class S.A. as home and probably always will. I feel spoilt and very fortunate to have been raised in South Africa and have been able to experience lots of times what you are documenting. To anyone who has never been.....mark it down on your bucket list and go experience it......you won't regret it. Thomas once again thank you for bringing us along on this journey.
Truly amazing video. I think you have really captured the essence of Namibia. Really looking forward to the rest. One thing that really admire about your videos and work is that you take the time to slow down and really enjoy the moment and place that you are. Nature is such an important part of our lives.
You, your passion and your teaching inspired me to grab my first DSLR, my first lens and first shots in the world of photography. Wish I could thank you enough.
Super like this video, Tom! Portrait of the leopard under the dappled shade of the tree brought tears to my eyes! Isn't it fun stepping outside of your comfort zone! 😀🐆
Love it Thomas! Wildlife photography is what I am working on. I look forward to seeing the rest of your trip. Keep up the great work. See ya out there one day.
Come on its fantastic !!! Waiting for other videos. I had goose bumps for cheetah photograph, Thanks God for awesome nature and thank Thomas for let us show it with best way...
From the glamour of Belfast to Namibia lol It is great to see your photographic journey. Look forward very much to seeing the other installments. Be safe and have a great time.
Welcome to my world of doing wildlife and landscape photography Tom !! Very different as you say but I've found that the more of each you do the more complimentary they can be to each other...though I'm first to admit that Buttermere can't get up and run off at the critical moment !! Hope rest of trip is "stunning" :-)
Awesome, was really looking forward to this. Beautiful locations and subjects, beautiful photography, and more than that I was blown away by your brief video clips of the leopards: so so good. Cannot wait for the next episode!
I'm a landscape photographer who recently started shooting wildlife as well... They are two very different disciplines, both fun and satisfying in different ways. Great video as always.
WOW!!!! The cats were absolutely gorgeous, always had a huge soft spot for cheetahs as they’re so graceful but the leopard in the dappled light was dare I say it absolutely stunning. Really looking forward to seeing the next instalment and thank you so much for taking us with you :)
welcome to africa - for those who make snotty comments about collars, it is a small price in a poacher riddled continent where wild (yes - wild - if you don’t believe me see the reports of tourists that get out of their cars, and get eaten) animals are hunted down in a terribly one sided expression of how low we humans can go!
great video Thomas. Having been lucky enough to have been on a safari myself the video and your excitement takes me right back to that experience. Thanks for this really enjoyed it.
Great video and wonderful images of the big cats. So different from your landscape videos but equally enthralling and can’t wait for your next one. Thank you for sharing.
I am so excited about you doing wildlife! I was only a wildlife photographer until I saw your videos and started do landscape also! I love doing both types because it keeps me on my toes so to speak.
Incredible portrait of the leopard. Thank you for sharing. I throughly enjoy following your adventures, it helps to motivate and push my own photography.
Wow, fantastic video, Thomas, that was really amazing! The eyes of that leopard were incredible and I loved your photo. Looking forward to the next Namibia video. Cheers.
Incredible video - you are without doubt the most inspiring photographer on TH-cam. And Kudos to 'Discover the World' for the work they do with Cheetahs too.
Feel your pain on those flights I recently completed the London to Johannesburg myself. I can say that though I love to claiming work of landscape photography my photo of a stalking leopard looking at me will bring me joy and wonderment for probably longer than any landscape I have shot. Can't wait to see your next videos on the rest of the journey.
Hi. Only just discovered this video. My wife and I were there in November 2017 as well! Okonjima is fantastic and the wonderful work that the Africat Foundation do. And then wide open spaces of Etosha. A glorious part of the world. Hoping beyond hope that can take up our return booking this October!
Hi Thomas...just watched this video and my how it brought back great memories of a self drive trip some years ago.We were fortunate to stop at the same location and good to see you also had one of the modern rooms, the others are rather small. Just love the reclining leopard picture...looking forward to seeing other locations on your trip that we also visited...keep up your great works
Fab video Tom :) What an amazing location & love the image you got, wow! Animals are so majestic & yes incredibly difficult to photograph! But, a challenge always adds to the fun, eh? :) ha! And, wow what a lens you've got, that's a bad boy ! Ha! Amazing! So looking forward to the next video, thanks for sharing & taking us along with you :)
My beloved Africa... Oh how I love wildlife photography. You and I are diametrically opposite but so much alike Thomas. I'm a wildlife photographer that shoots landscape and you're a landscape photographer shooting wildlife. Aren't cameras the greatest invention of all time!
As I will never probably get to Africa short of Toto, I take this personally, and thank you for bringing me along on this wonderful adventure ......... hoping for clear sky's for us, I bless the rains down in Africa.......
Great video I cannot wait to see the rest. Thank you for your videos on you tube. I have learnt a lot these last two weeks whilst recuperating from an operation on my foot. Once healed I cannot wait to get out there again, with my camera to put what I have learnt into practice.
Another great opportunity for you that is inspirational to us that are in more traditional careers, but with a keen interest in photography as a hobby. I love to wind down after a long day with a Thomas Heaton video. It helps motivate me to plan photo expeditions, expand my gear and hone my skills. That 200-400 with the 1.4 extender is some lens, definitely out of my reach. It is not your typical style but I am sure it is great for wildlife photography. I imagine it is a bit heavy and I know you like to pack light. I am very jealous but really appreciate you sharing your experiences with us.
This is going to be fun! Fantastic film Thomas, I can see how much you enjoyed this adventure! Massive thanks for taking us along! Ps: lovely portrait of that cheetah!
Thomas, truly loved seeing the passion you were feeling...very compelling to see how this trip affected your emotions. Thanks so much for sharing what you love!
Loved it! You are in a different league altogether to me but one thing I can say for sure is that in all walks of life coming out of the comfort zone is where the rich seam of learning and personal growth lies.
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your attitude toward the animals. I have seen many tourists who feel it is their right to see wildlife or who believe wildlife should perform for them. Very nice enjoy your working break, nice shots a little warmer than County Durham today
In addition to the wildlife please note the amazing sunsets and colors in the evening skies.
Another top video. Very different to your usual wet and cold treks out for stunning landscapes. It definitely looked more comfortable. Thanks for sharing.
That transition at 0:51.... GENIUS!
I actually didn't realized 😂
You spotted it! I hoped somebody would :)
I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, but upon reviewing, I remember feeling a sense of acceleration. Great idea indeed.
Brilliant video and great opportunity. These are the moments that despite being "work" related are payback for all your hard work over the years becoming the talented gent that you are. Looking forward to more.
For someone who doesn't do wildlife photography, you freaking nailed it!
Truly a beautiful image of the leopard lying in the shade Thomas, can't thank you enough for bringing us along in this journey...such a privalege
scotty4418 it‘s a leopard. Jesus christ

Love the music you use in your videos! Perfectly sets the mood and serenity

Wow - Completely different video from you but absolutely loved it! What a great photo of the cheetah too. Incredible! Excited for the videos to come.
Luv your videos too Kim. Keep up the good work!
The leopard* :)
Serkan Reis That's what I meant - oops 😂
Kim, you're becoming quite the celebrity here. You have the most thumbs up on all the comments ;^)
Really like your photography channel too Kim.
Oh my!......that Leopard picture is GORGEOUS!!! I look forward to watching the upcoming videos. Thanks for doing a vlog of your trip for us.
I though you were gonna cry when admiring that leopard...It felt truly emotional! I've had the same feeling with whales, just stop and watch how beautiful it is. Great vid again!

One thing that really admire about your videos and work is that you take the time to slow down and really enjoy the moment and place that you are. Nature is such an important part of our lives.
So crazy how we all tend to take this sort of thing for granted in Southern Africa.
Glad you had a good time! :D Excited to see the rest of your trip!
Brilliant Thomas, look forward to seeing the next episode!
You, your passion and your teaching inspired me to grab my first DSLR, my first lens and first shots in the world of photography. Wish I could thank you enough.
What an amazing adventure. You won't forget this trip in a while brilliant video thanks for sharing

Blown away by Canon's image fidelity on that cat in black white. Well done Thomas.
The improvement in the production quality of your videos has gotten so much better from your first one! Keep upi the great work!

Man, what a place. And that cheetah shot? Stunning. And this from someone who has little interest in animal shots. Thanks so much for this video.
Love it Tom! You're out of your comfort zone yet you still produce fantastic videos for us! Thank you thank you thank you!
What wonderful animal that leopard is. Lovely, and somehow moving.
Awesome, as much as i like Landscape images and such, this is what i really love..
I'm a landscape photographer who recently started shooting wildlife as well... They are two very different disciplines, both fun and satisfying in different ways. Great video as always.

The Cheetah image was gorgeous!! The light on the eye was perfect!
Great video. Made me nostalgic because I spent some time at that lodge a couple of years ago and its fantastic! I so hope I can go back some time.
You were so close to my home :) i'm sure this video will inspire everyone to come explore the beauty of Southern Africa! Thank you Thomas.
Feel your pain on those flights I recently completed the London to Johannesburg myself. Been there last year (also at Okonjima). Great place and amazing video!
Amazing video tom. Beautiful creatures. Can't fathom why anyone would want to hurt them

Great Stuff Thomas. Always good to challenge yourself and venture into a new area of photography 👍🏻

Welcome to Africa Thomas. It is so interesting to view my backyard through your lens.

Stunning Thomas you are a very luck man, you also worked hard for it.
