I know it's not gonna happen, but I would pay for Bakugo's body to reject the fake heart. Medical rejection is a big problem with transplants, and Edgeshot is literally putting all his cells in Bakugo's body and expecting his heart to beat again. Frankly, it should be a medical disaster. Sure it'll work out at this point, but it shouldn't.

Horikoshi's story is suffering from "Season 8 Game of Thrones syndrome"... The saddest part about it though?
He's seeing all this happen in real time and refuses to stop and pull it for resets and rewrites. It could be possible and should have been done many chapters ago, but his radio silence tells me three things:
    1. He's over the fandom and doesn't care if he pisses it off
    2. He's over MHA in general
    3. He is more than willing to troll the fans while he destroys his creation (and probably his writing career let's be honest).
No spoilers for AoT but... that ending left much to be desired--HOWEVER it made sense for the narrative.... in some ways. That's really all I ask for a finale.
Is that too much to ask for??
What is going to happen to MHA? Well... have you guys ever watched Game of Thrones....?

Honestly with how his health has been at times, how overworked and so on due to his series hitting popularity so early on....its more than likely he desperately wants to be over and done with this series. He's spent almost a decade on this series that it more than likely burnt him out completely
As much as the writing has gotten worse. I don't think he is a bad writer by any means considering the beginning arcs and series had to say. Its just seems he's no longer interested in writing bnha anymore.

Honestly it feels more like yuyu Hakusho to me - nearly the same story with the writer, too.
Story made it BIG early on and shonnen jump started pushing really hard for more and more and more content. The insane hours to pump out work + the pressure and demand from the fans wears on your health and eventually you just want to move on with your life.
An a fan it's disappointing to see a story end sloppily but as an artist who'd already cashed more than enough paychecks and is probably dreaming of a nice long vacation and a million OTHER projects?? 120% relatable.

  • @blackjackal8770

My biggest problem with this whole thing is that I don't see the point of bringing Bakugo back at all when it comes to the story. Like ok he's a popular character but within the story, why is it that they need to bring back Bakugo specifically out of everyone who has died in this battle? He has failed against Shigaraki already so what does bringing him back now will contribute to the fight at hand? Is Bakugo supposed to be the main part of a plan or something and they couldn't afford to let him die because of it?
Also if Edgeshot can get inside people's bodies and mess with their organs, why doesn't he just infiltrate Shigaraki and try to kill him from inside out? To me that sounds like a safer bet on winning than just reviving Bakugo and a better way to sacrifice himself.
Maybe I'm missing something because I'm not invested in this series anymore and I just skim through the chapters to stay up to date with the overall story so I'd appreciate some clarity in this matter in case anyone would like to enlighten me.......

Can we just give credit to one of the most nonsensical lines?
"This stopped heart belongs to a life we can ill afford to lose."
Like, what? Edgeshot, you are a hero with years of experience and hundreds of saved lives under your belt. You have trained probably most of your life, have moved up the hero rankings, and even helped in the rescue operation of this same child. What on God's green earth ever gave you the impression that this dumpster fire of a human being that has slowly changed into a campfire is somehow a life you could and should sacrifice your own for? Was it hype? Uh, yeah she was cool. But like...it barely made sense why the most OP hero in the world gets introduced to just be capped for no reason? And how her powers worked made little sense?

  • @TheOneTrueErica

I don't know, I like the take some others have made that Edgeshot's sacrifice encapsulates the overarching theme of the old heroes paving the way for the new generation. That's just me.

    • @Lolly74079
      @Lolly74079 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Agreed. I also liked how his initial “death” encapsulated the failures of the previous generation too. Right now, he should be about to enter the second year. He should have discovered the technique that (would have) killed him in a controlled and safe environment. A battle, or training session, where stakes are incredibly low compared to a fight where humanity is on the line. He should have had the guidance of his mentors to slowly build up the technique and his body after its discovery to make it into a safe and powerful combat skill.
Instead, thanks to the previous generation failing, he’s been pushed into a real battlefield in place of the experienced heroes that should be there. Two full years early. Instead of having the time to develop his powers, he’s been pushed into the most intense battle in the history of hero society. In the moment of stress, he discovered that technique and let it all out with zero control because if he held back, everyone could die. Leading to his death, which could have been avoided had he discovered the technique in the way he should have. I guess Edgeshot’s sacrifice could be seen as the older generation trying to make up for those mistakes, but there’s still a price they have to pay.
I don’t personally have a problem with this specific arc going on at the moment or the way Bakugo is handled. I think I would have liked it either way. Bakugo’s arc would have ended early in a way that makes sense, even if he hadn’t achieved his goals or reached his full potential. I would have been a bit disappointed, but he would have died a true hero, sacrificing himself for others. But I’m glad he’ll get a chance to (hopefully) reach that potential and (hopefully) get a major moment of triumph. I can understand why people don’t like fakeout deaths, especially if they’re used to seeing them over and over.

It does do that but... It's pointless. For you to build a moment like that, in a history, it needs to come from someone important. A constrast I could give os Crust's death. He sacrificed himself for Aizawa, but he was just that, a small foil to showcase us how those heroes are ready to sacrifice themselves for the "greater good" if it'll give them a chance of victory. But this Edgeshot moment is bad at doing this cause, you have Jeanist there. Someone with an actual connection to Bakugou which would've made this moment feel more meaningful
Or, if Edgeshot was indeed an actual character with a personality, backstory, connections and screentime. Yrah, it can be thematically accurate, and we could even say it representa the theme, but it doesn't change the fact it was bad written and a waste of a character. It came out of nowhere, at the cost of using a character who would encapsulate this moment much better

I thought his death was fantastically written and so beautiful. And then i looked at the set up and i became convinced that it was merely a publicity stunt by the author to get more clicks. He did it as the cliffhanger to a 2 week serialization break. Everything about it screams publicity stunt and i couldnt be more angry.
Im only reading the series at this point due to the sunk cost fallacy since ive gone through the other 368 chapters whats another 20 in the grand scheme of things.

This series survives on fake out drama. Death in this series is taken as serious as it is in Dragon Ball Z; as in even when a character "dies" they are LITERALLY waiting to go back.
And my big question is why are there no other healing Quirks in this show besides Recovery Girl? Why wasn't there a healer on the sidelines tending to the wounded heroes so they can continue fighting far longer and more effectively? Of ALL the Quirks in this whole show the most useful ones are relegated to a SINGLE individual while other Quirks like Fire and Ice are handed around the community like Hot Cakes! It doesn't show importance to the characters who have these one time only powers, it shows lazy writing that the story can't accommodate more than one person having such useful, powerful, and important abilities.

Reading My Hero the last couple of years has honestly reminded me of watching the end of Game of Thrones sometimes. It was so good for like 70% of it's runtime and then just landed on it's face in the final act.

We've NEVER gotten a backstory for Edgeshot, and now him and Jeanist are both from UA... with the exception of Fatgum, all heroes who serve a certain purpose to the story come from UA. I know that from a narrative perspective it makes sense, it being the best Hero school and whatnot, but it feels a bit lazy since there are so many hero schools Horikoshi has come up with, hell it would also bring about a good moral being "it doesn't matter where you got educated, what matters is how hard you work". Unfortunately, another missed opportunity

This is some "Honey, I shrunk the kids and have them revive someone.... from the inside" shit that they just simply pulled out of their arse. And yes, it's about heroism and shit, but the sacrifice of a nobody serves no purpose at all, there is no attachment to the character of Edgeshot, it would have been a lot more impactful if a classmate or all might would sacrifice themselves for Bakugo to live, but edgeshot of all the people serves no purpose for the story and the reader.
The longer the final arc is dragging on, the worse it gets, you can tell it's rushed.

Here’s a summary of my thoughts on the Bakugo situation:
People are criticizing the fact he’s coming back BEFORE it’s even happened. It’s like when people were upset about Hagakure being “revealed” as the traitor, when the VERY next chapter made those same people do a complete 180. Not saying he won’t come back (I think that if he has to die, which he still could by the end, this was not a proper sendoff for the character), but anything could happen between now and then. Maybe the method their using will fail due to outside influence (Shigaraki), and the way he is brought back might be more costly than this, like Jeanist dying for instance. And most Shounen series have done this before, and sometimes even more than once. So WHY does MHA have to be criticized more for doing the exact same thing? Also, I think it’s handling the “fake death” thing so much better than most series. Usually a character is brought back suddenly with little to no explanation, or we’re given the explanation AFTER they’re revived. Here, they’ve outright told us that they intend to bring him back and how they intend to do it, so it’s much less of a deus ex machina.
And again, I think he deserves a much better death than this. The perfect end for him Ivan imagine is that he dies at the end in Deku’s arms and we get our sad goodbye seen for them and anyone else that matters. And if All Might ends up dying like Nighteye predicted, Deku will sign Bakugo’s card in his place.
People are just far too desperate for bloodshed and death. Newsflash, that’s not what this series is about. And the stakes ARE still there. Just because some people aren’t dying doesn’t mean they can’t. I mean, Bakugo technically DID die, quite easily I might add, and it’s costing the life of another hero to bring him back.

Most of your points don't make sense. But let me try to argue against them.
      - It’s like when people were upset about Hagakure being “revealed” as the traitor, when the VERY next chapter made those same people do a complete 180 -
This is terrible since you are admitting that Horikoshi loves to manipulate the audience and in the end laugh in their faces. And instead of creating interesting moments with those manipulations, they are totally unnecessary. The Hagakure thing is a clear example of that. What was the point of making the audience believe that Hagakure would be the traitor? Horikoshi did it because he wanted to and because he doesn't care if the audience looks like idiots.
      - Maybe the method their using will fail due to outside influence (Shigaraki), and the way he is brought back might be more costly than this, like Jeanist dying for instance. -
If that is going to happen then why make this unnecessary chapter?
      - And like you said, most Shounen serie have done this before, and sometimes even more than once. So WHY does MHA have to be criticized more for doing the exact same thing? -
This is so stupid. Using that logic any criticism towards MHA would be meaningless.
      A) Izuku is a bad protagonist - well other shonen also have a bad protagonist.
      B) Bakugo is poorly developed - well other shonen also has poorly developed characters.
      C) The supporting characters are useless - other shonen also make the supporting characters useless.
      D) Izuku got 7 quirks out of nowhere - other shonen also gives away powers to their main characters.
Literally, any criticism can be evaded with "Other shonen do it too".
At the end of the series, Horikoshi is going to reveal an alien as the final villain of MHA and no one will be able to criticize him because other shonen does it.
      - Usually a character is brought back suddenly with little to no explanation, or we’re given the explanation AFTER they’re revived. -
And that is known as bad writing since the writer is inventing things that he did not establish before to try to give coherence to something that does not make sense.
      - Here, they’ve outright told us that they intend to bring him back and how they intend to do it, so it’s much less of a deus ex machina. -
Telling us how it will happen does not change the fact that it is a Deux Machina.
EX: Izuku dies at the end of the series. Shigaraki manages to cut off his head but guess what Sero is nearby and Sero reveals to us that he has a secret ability that allows him to use his tape to attach Izuku's head to his body and revive him. Even though they tell us how they will save Izuku it is still ridiculous.
      - I mean, Bakugo technically DID die, quite easily I might add, and it’s costing the life of another hero to bring him back. -
The fact that the character who is dying is the least important of all the battlefield really tells us how little it matters.
EX: Izuku dies but in the end, Koda sacrifices himself so that Izuku can be revived. And saying that "someone" died in exchange for reviving Izuku.
      - And again, I think he deserves a much better death than this. The perfect end for him Ivan imagine is that he dies at the end in Deku’s arms and we get our sad goodbye seen for them and anyone else that matters. -
You are really speaking from your emotions and not from logic. The only reason this doesn't bother you is because you didn't like Bakugo's death.
But I'm going to ask you a question. If Bakugo died the way you describe and one chapter later he is revived because Koda sacrifices himself for him, would you like it?

i haven't had a good laugh in a while 💀 hori's writing has been disappointed me for a long time, frankly after the first war arc, but man edgeshot becoming bakugou's heart is a new low. it was SOOOO out of place, if they wanted an adult saving bakugo why tf wouldn't best jeanist just do it 💀 ?? like it's sooooo bizarre because he's never been relevant to bakugou like ever so why did he need to be the one to save him?
i love bakugou and i don't think that he should die, but man im more pissed that THIS is why he's alive like ??? i don't think if he died now it would be optimal for his character development, but i could understand and i could even accept it. it would be a little rushed, but if he died, it would be okay because he's actually important in the series, so his death would actually mean something. edgeshot having this big moment with absolutely ZERO setup, it's just weird.
like it's so obvious that horikoshi has lost his balls for actually letting his characters have consequences for a while now, but man this is some real bs that he's trying to make us accept. i would've rather had bakugou die permanently than this bs moment 💀 literally anything could've happened and that would've been better than this
and like i get it, bnha hasn't been kind to horikoshi. not only shtty shippers, but it's also dunked on by a lot of other hardcore shounen bros. this series is SO much longer than he ever planned for, and that's pretty evident when he said he planned it to end in like 20 vols at one point. making a manga in general is just so demanding for weekly authors, so not only mentally, i know he's probably suffering physically as well. and even though i know all of this, i'm still disappointed man. this just isn't the BNHA that i fell in love with 4 years ago.
he's tired of the series, i'm tired of the series, i think everyone is tired of the series. at this point, i think we're all just waiting for the end of it to see how this whole story fits together. i highly doubt it will satisfy any of us, but if it does, by god call horikoshi one of the best. but again, with how this series is going, it doesn't look likely 💀

Something else people don't take into account... Bakugou was lying there for a solid minute or more. His heart exploded so nothing is pumping blood through his body, his lungs cant work, therefore not only is he bleeding out (which if a major artery is cut you bleed out in under a few minutes MUCH LESS A HEART) but now his organs aren't getting their oxygen...
which leads to organ shutting down. Wanna know what else isn't getting oxygen? His brain. If the brain is deprived of oxygen for too long i.e. a minute or so, a lot of horrible damage can be done to it, some of it irreversible.
Sure, yeah, they have Eri the wonder unicorn, but that's another theory.
Bakugou should be dead or very close to it in the amount of time that has passed since his heart exploded to when all this bullshit happened to when Deku FINALLY shows up.

I believe that Bakugo is going back to life, but not because of Edgeshot. (It might work for a moment but then fall appart (I HOPE)) because I think he is related in some way to OFA : It might seem weird at first but why would Bakugo see All Might's vestige form? If it was just a flashbacks or last moment memory, I think Bakugo would've seen All Might like he sees him since his very childhood.
If this theory's true, I don't really know how Horikoshi's going to make it work, but it may be due to his relationship with Deku. Like ShigAFO said, Bakugo is the one who's closest to Deku, thus with this theory, could have access to the OFA/AFO world?
Honestly, this sounds very weird but that's the only reason I got for why Bakugo saw All Mights vestige form.
Like you said, the Edgeshot thing is very wacky and out of context. I don't know if Edgeshot will die, though. I don't know much about his quirk but maybe he could live?? idk.
Regardless of theory, I think it would be very surprising if Bakugo actually ends up dead. Such an important (and popular) character to die like _this_ without achieving "anything"? It would be so disappointing for his character development. + death in mha is pretty rare (nighteye, midnight..) those are not very important characters.
In a way, him dying would be symbolic to the other heroes but.. it feels wrong with the way Bakugo has been built up as a character.

  • @KevinXmusic

I'm not gonna sit here and say this chapter was brilliantly written or anything, but I truly feel Horikoshi dug his own grave when he "killed" Bakugo in 362. It was such a sloppy way to kill a character, I was genuinely furious at the story in that moment, that I'm just happy there's a chance he could come back. It's pretty stupid, but it's not the worst outcome, because at least he didn't bring Eri to this battlefield or use her to heal Overhaul (who wouldn't help anyways). I also do really like the theme of the older generation protecting the younger generation, especially when they fucked up by bringing kids to war, seeing someone step up and sacrifice himself to save them hits pretty hard. Edgeshot kind of is a nobody, but he's been around enough to make me think "oh that's cool", although I agree I wish we got more of him and got to know him more. He's also the #4 top hero, so not exactly some random dude on the street. I'm hoping the next few chapters could maybe make this scene make a bit more sense, cause right now it is really stupid, but idk... Just the pure relief that Bakugo isn't dead is enough to make me enjoy the chapter. I don't think it necessarily removes stakes because 1, a hero had to die for this to happen and 2, people still very well may die in this arc. I don't think any students will, but I think some pros may die, like Endeavor, Hawks, and the others at the Shiggy fight.
I'm also interested to see if Hori explores Bakugo's guilt after this. One of his best moments was him speaking about how guilty he felt for making All Might retire... Now a pro hero DIED to save him, and a few more around him may very well die as well. It's gonna do a lot for his character I feel. Idk, after this I really feel like Horikoshi needs to do some GOATED shit with Bakugo in order to make peace with some fans who hated this development. He better not let this moment go to waste. But yeah in summary, I liked the chapter, and I understand it's critiques, I just hope people can be more respectful about it is all. It just feels like it's impossible to talk about MHA these days without toxicity, but maybe I should get off twitter.

Interesting perspective! However, I completely disagree with every point in this video loll I think that most people fall into a trap of trying to write the story for the Mangaka's instead of allowing the Mangaka to guide them through the story THEY have in mind. That is to say, you not knowing why Horikoshi is writing this way is not because it doesn't make sense AT ALL, but instead you just dont have the right lense to see HOW Horikoshi is writing his story now.
What is going on makes perfect sense narratively and especially thematically. It's NOT supposed to be a CHARACTER MOMENT for edgeshot AT ALL, but instead its supposed to emphasize the theme that Horikoshi is currently expressing, which IS NOT "What does it mean to be a hero". Also currently, the stakes are just as high considering Shiggy is quite literally the opposing threat to the characters in the battle currently.
Obviously I am inclined to making a video about this chapter to open up a new way of looking at this chapter. I believe most people are closing their minds to takes like these and that would most likely prevent them from even considering that there is a legitimate way to look at the story narratively and thematically and appreciate chapters like these. I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter 8/10 for me. That's not to say I enjoy every chapter of MHA, because I don't. But I believe I get what Horikoshi is doing with his story and it's marvelous!

      - think that most people fall into a trap of trying to write the story for the Mangaka's instead of allowing the Mangaka to guide them through the story THEY have in mind. -
How do you know that this is the story that Horikoshi wants to write? How do you that Horikoshi wasn't forced to revive Bakugo? And that entire point of "THEY have in mind" is such a stupid argument. I'm pretty sure almost nobody WANTED Bakugo to die and get revived one chapter later.
      - That is to say, you not knowing why Horikoshi is writing this way is not because it doesn't make sense AT ALL, but instead you just dont have the right lense to see HOW Horikoshi is writing his story now. -
My God! I love how you comment as if your OPINION is SUPERIOR to everyone else. YOU are the ONLY one who can fully understand Horikoshi nobody else. It's not like YOU are interpreting everything just like everyone else.
      - It's NOT supposed to be a CHARACTER MOMENT for edgeshot AT ALL, but instead its supposed to emphasize the theme that Horikoshi is currently expressing, which IS NOT "What does it mean to be a hero". -
Again I love how you are framing your OPINION as SUPERIOR to everyone else. But I have a question how do YOU know that this is not supposed to be a CHARACTER MOMENT? Did you call Horikoshi and ask if this was supposed to be a character moment or are you interpreting the scenes just like everyone else?
Another question, if this wasn't supposed to be a CHARACTER MOMENT why give Edgeshot a flashback to make HIS CHARACTER more complex? And another question if this isn't supposed to be a CHARACTER MOMENT why Edgeshot and not Best Jeanist? I mean the character doesn't matter so why use Edgeshot? I'm sure it's not because he's the only character that Horikoshi can invent convenient abilities for the situation. But again if Edgeshot was chosen for his quirk then it would make this moment a CHARACTER MOMENT since Edgeshot would be the only CHARACTER who would have the quirk to save Bakugo. Right?
Yeah, the "theme" is "older generations sacrificing for the younger generation". Right? So I'm guessing that if Izuku died at the end of the story and Wash appear out of nowhere and revived him you're not going to criticize it. Or if Izuku saved Shigaraki by telling him to stop being evil (in the most simplistic way possible) you're not going to criticize it. Because the only thing that matters is the "theme" not the execution of the theme.
      - Also currently, the stakes are just as high considering Shiggy is quite literally the opposing threat to the characters in the battle currently. -
Not really, having a strong villain doesn't mean that the stakes are high. If we use that logic Dragon Ball is one of the series with the highest takes ever because every single villain could destroy the earth and kill every important character in the series.

I do and don't agree with some of these points. I agree that how they're reviving Bakugo is absolutely ridiculous. Nothing about it makes any sense. Like seriously if you were gonna do that at least have it be Best Jeanist that at least has a drop of sense in it. But regardless it's being handled poorly. However I disagree that Bakugo dying would have been a good thing. I don't think they should have done a fake out death either, I think they just should've skipped this whole nonsense. Bakugo dying like that without much of an interesting fight of his own and without accomplishing much of anything would have been such a disappointment and lackluster ending to a character that up to this point has been pretty important. His death would have seemingly only served to be emotional fodder for Deku, which lets be real he doesn't even need at this point in the story. I think this whole story beat is nonsense and never should have happened. Maybe kill off another one of the students, someone we've spent time with but isn't such a key character. Or if they absolutely had to kill Bakugo at least do it after he has some kind of epic fight and had a moment that turns things some amount in favor for the heroes. Which also why doesn;t Bakugo have his own villian rival?? like Ochaco has Himiko but Bakugo just has Deku. Which I mean I love they're rivalry, but it's a friendly one and Deku also has a villain rival. I really love Bakugo as a character and it feels like he's just been used as emotional fodder for Deku along with being damseled multiple times. So frustrating.

I talked about how there's so much space that could be utlized discussing pro heroes, especially the top 10. I even used Edgeshot as an example of someone who could be fleshed out. They said I was exaggerating and Edgeshot was not important and that's why he has no arc.

i said the exact same thing about midnight as well before she died. im so glad someone else shares that opinion. god just imagine how much more time we could've spent with the heroes (teachers specifically too), during... their 2nd or maybe 3rd year.
before midnight died, i wish they'd spend time with little snippets of her day to day life, while tieing it nicely to, let's say.. an internship of someone else. it could feel like natural progression, while also exploring the side cast. just like they did with nighteye and mirio. we could've gotten more insight on the big three as well, (instead of shoving Nejire's backstory in the final arc LMAOOOO) it just could've all been neatly compressed over the span of 3 years in universe, instead of having this all happen in 1 year. would've made for so much more planning and breathing room, and also many more chances for the teachers and other heroes to get great screentime.

In the end of the day, even though it's believable Edgeshot can do that, as far fetched as it is, my biggest problems are these 3:
1- The previous 2 chapters where MEANINGLESS, as Bakugou's "death" led to NOTHING, not even to Midorya getting angry and getting there on a rage mode. Just, pure bait for the readers
2- Edgeshot is a NOTHING CHARACTER! The man supposedly knew Jeanist since highschool but when Jeanist was thought dead, we got nothing from Edgeshot! A wasted opportunity to show their friendship, or to show Edgeshot being affected by it, to also showcase better how connected the heroes can be. Edgeshot was just a background cool character, perfect to be tossed aside to bring back Bakugou like a trap card you never knew was set-up
3,(The biggest one)- It robbed Jeanist of saving Bakugou! If Bakugou had been just severely damaged and was like, almost dead in a way Jeanist could help, it would be an amazing moment of a character who was one of the first to believe in Bakugou and try to help him, a character who "died" to help the heroes and the new gen, a great support who had been important in the war and brought to the light to us, a character who had a connection with Bakugou and would have given us a meaningfull moment, just like All Might with Deku, of a former big hero giving his life/strenght/faith to the next gen he helped to raise closely!
That's what I hate in this chapter, it robbed Jeanist from having a great, impactful, memorable character moment with Bakugou

    • @vcamv2354
      @vcamv2354 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

@@GiraffeBlood Even then, what was the point of the previous chapters now? Even if Bakugou's death was supposed to some character, means nothing for the reader as we know he's still alive. If he's gonna come back awaken, it'll feel kinda cheap. If he's gonna come back changed, well, that's not the best way to finish his character development. No matter his plans, the previous 2 chapters where everyone reflected on Bakugou's death, are now muddled as, well, it didn't mattered ad he's going to come back. And, if he'a going for "This not gonna work, it'll fail" it'll just mean 2 characters will die, for maybe some very cool fight moments and a goodbye, which will still be a bit muddled by the bait and we don't even know if will be good or not. The next chapters might rederm this moment, yes, but the last two are already muddled

My hero academia took something amazing with a trillion good possibilities and boiled down into a selfish narrative that doesn't mean anything at all.
All of the good things are spoiled, ruined, or broken outright. Characters we have been in love with since the series began are off-screened with comedic timing.

All that bragging from 2016 really made this moment hurt a lot harder.

      2. Bakugo got one-shotted. What's stopping the lovecraftian horror from doing it again? Also, not even five chapters after this, Mirko kicks his ass with two prosthetic limbs, so I doubt this fifteen year old with an inferiority complex would be much more of a help.

If he's the only one to do lasting damage than clearly the currently existing pros should pack their fucking bags right now since their getting outclassed by some asshole teenager.
Realized this after clicking post: Mirko may have gotten folded like a half priced mattress after kicking AFO's ass for a chapter, but she still kicked his ass for a whole chapter, which considering she only has two of her original limbs, isn't half bad. Bakugo, on the other hand, got one half-decent shot in then fucking died.

I have another conspiracy theory/headcanon: this war arc was supposed to happen on 3rd year and one of bakugou internships was with edgeshot. The guy is literally a top 5 hero, the only thing we knew about him was that he is a ninja and always cool and collected. I can see a story where Bakugou loses his temper and let a villain get away, so he decides to become better and goes to the most controlled top 5 guy, edgeshot.
Now edgeshot sacrifice helped makes thematic sense: two mentors help together and sacrifice a lot to save their pupil, heroism and old guard passing the torch to the new guard all tied up in a nice bow

I honestly agree. Working at weekly jump is usually harder that monthly, and it could contribute to Horikoshi burning out. Also it seems that hes already tires of his story, and it's sad. It would been grate if Horikoshi took one month hiatus to rest and refresh himself a little.
