The salesman warns Jack that it would take at least half an hour for him to go get the change. Jack calmly says "That's alright", and pauses for a second to ask yourself whether by "that's alright" he means he'll forego waiting all that time for the penny. After he's let you think about it long enough, he finishes the thought with: "I'll wait". I recall I was sitting in a car when I first heard this, and I broke down in hysterics.
