Thank you for posting these videos. I model the Central of Georgia in HO gauge and it's nice to know the history of this great railroad. Still building up my CofG rolling stock. I've got the famous #4501 Mikado engine that's the last of the MS class of engines. I use it to pull my consist of Southern Crescent Limited. My wife is from Jonesboro, GA, and remembers the Nancy Hanks II rolling through Jonesboro in the early 60's, pulled by Southern E-8's. The Central of Georgia was purchased by Southern Railways in 1963, and was subsequently purchased by Norfolk Southern in 1982. Cheers from an ex-Georgian in eastern TN

I wish there were more available photos of the interiors of Terminal and, especially, the 1930-1972 Union Station.
I've never seen a single photo of the inside of the last Atlanta Union Station.
Both were over-the-tracks depots and the maze of trackage down in there was referred to, by railroad personnel, as, "The Iron Triangle."
I remember Terminal Station. Rode to Jacksonville, as a small child, out of Terminal Station, on Southern Railway's, 9:30 p.m., "Royal Palm," in from Chattanooga and Cincinnati, in the early 1960s.
Terminal Station's ticket area had big, high ceilings, some vaulted ceilings, and fancy gargoyle friezes and statues on it's outside, if I remember correctly. You could smell the diesel and hear the trains blowing their horns from the ticket counter.
My mother used to take us two boys down there to watch trains (freights) shortly after it closed June 15, 1970.
It was down at the heels, crumbling cement, smelled of urine and waste outside, as it had become the camp ground for vagabonds. Same with Union. The benches were still inside the stations' waiting rooms for some time after the stations had closed.

I wish at least one of the two stations could have been saved...

I would very much like to know who built the model of the Terminal station shown in the video where the Ho scale steam locomotive passes through?
I m also modeling Atlanta circa 1949 and would love to get a duplicate of the Terminal and Union Station model for my layout

Sorry, this was quite a while back when we filmed this, all we can remember is a gentleman by the name of Joe and his son in Atlanta who's layout this was, cannot remember the last name though!

This was created by a guy named Joe Hanson (i think) and his son. They have since donated it to the Atlanta History Museum. You can see the model there. I think they're still closed due to COVID though.
