Aloha Patrick and Stuart, watching this fun, educational and heart warming video for the 2nd. time was delightful. As I have mentioned before, I adore your Channel and it is definitely one of my top 3, MUST WATCH EVERYDAY, channels. There’s always something that I missed or didn’t have a long enough view of first time, that makes a rewatch quite rewarding, especially new surprises that just seem to pop up out of nowhere. Thank you both for all the love and positive energy you share in your videos 🏰.
I've just discovered you! And I'm really looking forward to your adventures - I'm a chateaux follower to the hilt! So nice that you were able to spend time with Philipp and Anna, they're right up there in my favourite chateau people. Good luck on your journey x
Hi Karen. So glad you found us and liked what we did. Philipp and Anna were just wonderful. That was our special treat to ourselves before we had to fly home. Two days of fun and relaxation. Hope you stay tuned!
@@JourneytotheChateau Stay safe and enjoy your adventure. We will be watching to see if you do the bed and breakfast route. If so, we would definitely like to hear about it. Hopefully, we will see peaceful happy days again soon.
We were supposed to leave for France on March 13, 2020. We were scheduled to see a chateau we really liked. It's in the next episode. However, due to Covid and the travel ban..... It was a no go.
Toile is such a versatile design. Furniture, bedding, curtains, wallpaper. Not many designs that I can think of that work so perfectly in almost every setting. I love that Stuart has started to design his own Toiles. I call them Toiles de Stooey...... 🤣🥰🤣
Hi Susan. Thanks for joining our crazy journey. The one advantage we have is that we had role models (Escape to the Dream (love them), How to renovate a chateau without killing you partner (we stayed with them for two night) and Chateau Diaries. Our one advantage is that we are filing from the beginning. If things would have worked out 2 years ago, we would not have this vantage point. Thanks for subscribing. Next time we will go chateau hunting, we will meet Terry, Ash, Tracey Tony (and Jonathan) and take them out for dinner to thank them.
I discovered your channel through Chateau Diaries. Your channel is already so amazing. Oh, those auctions! They are more more-ish and Cadbury chocolate! Thank you for the video and I am looking forward to exploring the rest of your videos.
Hi Leigh. Thanks for watching our vlogs. This journey almost seems a bit crazy at times but we are all in! Phillip an d Anna are very much like in their vlogs. Very kind and just lovely. And they do have great taste. Even if our taste is slightly different, I can fully appreciate the beauty of their designs. Have a Happy New Year and be safe! 🎉🍾🎉
Loved watching your vlog . I can't all your episodes 2 3 4 5 ? Want to watch your whole journey as your journey looks like its going to be enjoyable to watch xo
Thank you. I am very relieved, that you and so many other people actually enjoyed our vlog. Hopefully, you'll spend some more time with us in the upcoming vlogs.
So often details like the stonecutter's roadside displays are unknowns to "we Americans". The historical record of things, professions, places, traditions is so deep in Europe compared to our country's relatively short history. Love the very interesting guided tour! 👍👍
Hey there. Thanks for the comment. I think it is true, that here in the US, traditions got lost due to many different factors. Having been a tourist in many countries, there is so much to learn and explore. We are grateful that kind people like you are on this journey with us.
@@JourneytotheChateau you are very welcome. The Chateau you showed today, I have to agree. Very nice outside but just not right inside. Will be looking forward to your next vlog.
La Touraine has castles galore, all prices and sizes. And the wines are not to be sniffed at... Maybe you could visit the Chateau de la Villaumaire... Tours, Orléans, Chinon, Bourgueil, Saumur,...and the food in the little restaurants is so good and cheap... Good luck, boys !
Hi Walter. I have been up and down the Touraine many times and totally agree with you. Love the wine and food. Villaumaire is a big too large for us but gorgeous. Ate too much and love the wines. Been traveling the region since 1986. You have good taste. Thanks for commenting
My preferred restaurant in Chinon is l'Oceanic. Full gastronomical menu is sooo good. Another excellent place is in Langeais, Le Coin Des Halles. But the cheapest was Au Fil de l'Eau in Avoine, workmen's cantine with unbeatable quality for the price. Langeais' castle is also interesting. Did you visit the royal abbey of Fontevreau? Or the little church in Rivière? But my preferred Saturday mornings were at the market in Saumur where you can make friends with nearly everyone (lots of expats).
@@walterpfannschmidt8449 Chinon as a town is just lovely. L'Oceanic sounds fantastic. We actually ate at the Le Coin des Halles. And it was great! Very well made video, tasteful music, good content. Well done. You have another subscriber here. My one bit of advice might be to suggest taking binoculars to view that all important roof condition of the prospective chateau from the ground. Getting more perspectives on probably the most expensive portion of a chateau repair may help in knowing current condition and a future expense. It might help in negotiating price as well. Just a thought.

Hello Kate from Australia. Donkeys are wonderful. Our stay at Le Fleur was wonderful. Anna and Phillip were like therapy during COVID. We are glad you like our content and hope you’ll stay tuned. 👍🏻
if you come south; links are great from Toulouse; carcassonne... climate is fantastic here near Mirepoix in the foothills of the pyrenees - an hour from the Med and an hour from skiing. We have apple orchards in our little microclimate and fabulous wines (Rothchild's 20 mins towards limoux) .. Come look down here! xxx love to hear of your search xx
Hi Amanda. We love the south of France too. I’m not dealing well with the hot days in the summer. We have friends in Toulouse. Avignon, Aix en Provence is magical and you are so close to Andorra. When you describe your locations almost half of the people who read that would want to move there! Love it. Where are you from originally?
@@patrickjourneytothechateau8243 we came from Devon; on the slopes of Dartmoor - some of my family were already here and I bought a place in the Minervois in the early 1980's. Avignon and everything North and East of Carcassonne is getting hotter as you say, because of climate change. In the foothills of the Pyrenees the weather is temperate; we have a lovely summer/spring/winter. The Apple orchards tell the weather story here. They won't thrive in the heat of just 30 mins away.. My sister moved from Avignon to Burgundy for the weather but has found the weather in central France has become stifling in the summer. One of the reasons we chose to be here because as one of my daughters is a senior negotiator for the Climate Change Treaty , she was able to give us a mapping of future change. So we are out of a valley; away from potential floods but in an area where there is not a water shortage. We are future proofing with all water from the buildings are going into a water tank; we have Solar panels; a huge amount of insulation (so it's cool in the summer, warm in the winter) and Air source heat pumps which run the hot water and central heating. Cheaper area's of France can be completely dead in the winter. I had a Manoir on the Manche Peninsula in Normandy (check that out its fabulous) but am equally happy here as there is a year round social scene; summer and winter
@@florentinalily Devon is pretty. My parents traveled with all over Western Europe. We had several trips to GB with our little RV. That’s where I learned English. You are very fortunate to have such an accomplished daughter. We here in the US have to listen to stupid elected officials who still don’t believe in climate change. Science is not what they believe. I am always mapping things out. No valleys for me either! Wonderful, that you have already done much for the future. We are thinking about that a lot. Solar, insulation etc. I find all of what you have shared so fascinating. Thank you for sharing!

Hi John. Thank you for your kind comment. We will try to do your trust justice. I think finding a chateau is the easier part of the journey. Bringing it from outdated to the 21st century while maintaining the authenticity will be the real journey.
A fun video, looking forward to more!
thank you. 😊
So lovely to have found your channel! I too live just outside of Chicago in the Northern Suburbs and I look forward to seeing more of your videos as you search for your Chateau. What a dream! Also, it was nice to see your pictures of Phillip and Anna on your visit to Honfleur. Best wishes and happy Chateau hunting! Jennifer
Thank you ZenJen. What a cool handle! We do love our house and neighbors here just outside of Woodstock. But the winters are way too cold and long and the summers usually too hot and humid. Philipp and Anna were just wonderful. Thank you for being on the journey with us.

VLG XXX
I too have just discovered your channel and am looking forward to following your adventures. Such a lovely video.

I am really enjoying your channel. We stayed with Philipp and Anna in September and found it delightful. Cannot wait to go back. Good luck with your search.
Hi Betty. Thank you so much for your comment. Staying at Le Fleur is just wonderful. I can relate to you wanting to visit again. I have the same feeling. However, hopefully we will find our own chateau and will be renovating….. That would mean no travel for a while. May I ask where you are from? It’s amazing to see people from all over the world commenting.
I just found your channel and adore it and you! I cant wait to watch all of the videos! My afternoon is planned!
Thank you, Leighla! 💕💕

Hey there. Thank you so very much. I have to admit that I have nothing to take credit for. Just being a bit of a bumbling idiot....🤣 Editing and music selection is all Stuart. Thank you for joining us on this crazy journey. 🥰

TH-cam recommended your channel. Just FYI, in case you needed to know.
Wow! That is good to know. Thank you!

@@patrickjourneytothechateau8243
Awww thank you.
Hey there! Just coming over to your channel after recommendation from Terry and Ash. I am going to start from the beginning and will catch up to where you are now. Really impressed with the work you have done in the past. Looking forward to sharing your journey.
Thank you! 💕
Great advice! Thank you!
Watching you guys from Australia so excited for you both Love Donkeys wow so much to look forward too Great guys 🍾🍷🍸🍹🍺🥂wowow cant wait for the party So glad to see you stayed with Anna and Phillip I have been watching them since the beginning of there journey so wonderful for you young guys .So pleased love the content of videos from you talented guys
Hello Kate from Australia. Donkeys are wonderful. Our stay at Le Fleur was wonderful. Anna and Phillip were like therapy during COVID. We are glad you like our content and hope you’ll stay tuned. 👍🏻
Looking forward to more from you two
Lovely video, well put together, also enjoyable listening to the both of you. I think you had enjoyable experiences because it is in you
Thank you Brenda!
Thank you so much. I like your perspective. I agree, when one has an open heart and mind, good things can come
if you come south; links are great from Toulouse; carcassonne... climate is fantastic here near Mirepoix in the foothills of the pyrenees - an hour from the Med and an hour from skiing.
Omgoodness! You two are so honest and charismatic! Just found your channel, I’m a fan! Can’t wait to go along with you on your journey!
Thank you so much, Eileen! You need to binge watch and get caught up! 💕😊
Enjoying your vlogs and looking forward to more!
Yay! Thank you, Elisabeth!
Based on the first video showing your past renovations, it's going to be very inspiring to follow your journey.
Hi Elizabeth. We try to stay true to whatever period we are restoring. Of course, XVIIIth century is a bit more challenging. We have done a ton of research. If you have any input, please share with us. Thank you.
Really enjoyed your vlog, interesting to hear the ins and outs as to why, where etc 😊
How lovely of you to thank the air staff 😃 Fancy going to brocantes when you can't buy!!! Torture!!! 😃
and you stayed with Anna and Philip! love that you got Philip's theme tune! (attention to detail 😉)
For goodness sake how much is it going to cost to get your "accidental" purchases to France?! 😂
Thank you, Suzie! Getting things moved to France is going to be a challenge!
Hi Suzie. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. We are glad, that you enjoyed the first real vlog of ours. It was a bit torture to see some nice items and being completely unable to buy anything. Anna and Philip were really fantastic to stay with. Please stay tuned. Stuart is working on the next vlog.
Wonderful vlog . Now we are hooked. 🥰
Awesome! Thank you, Angela!
Thank you so much Angela
You guys were great. Can't wait for the saga to continue.
Came over here from Stephanie and Philip / I’m thinking you are going to be my new favourites 😁😁
Thank you! 😀👍
Anj, that is the nicest compliment I can imagine. Thank you so much. Huge hug. 💖😘💖
How fabulous was this the music history taking us through your Chateau journey I’m excited and honoured bless you both😍❤️😘👌🥂
Thank you, Brenda!
Thank you Brenda! Bless you too. It's an exciting journey. I'm not saying that I'm not sometimes scared..... But really, overwhelmingly excited.
How exciting and brave to take this plunge. I love auctions just remember shipping from the US to France. Yikes. Look forward to more videos your sound & video quality are excellent.
Hi Eric. Thanks for your kind comment. It’s a bit scary - taking the plunge. Leaving jobs and a nicely renovated home. However, it’s also very exciting. We,ll have two containers to ship over. Nightmare in the making. The videos are all Stuart. I cannot take any credit. Glad you enjoy the quality and thanks for mentioning it. Made Stuart smile.
Would love to see the chateaus as you look at them. You two are delightful!
Thank you, Debra! I think that viewers will enjoy seeing different chateaux that are for sale in France. Hopefully I can speed up my video editing skills so you won't have to wait too long.
Traveling can often not go as planned. Glad United came through for you. I would have had a "fit" as they say. You both covered a lot of territory indeed and met so many people. Many new adventures coming your way.
Guys, I'm more and more thinking of selling in Belgium and going to the Saumurois...
I completely understand. The region and the people are just amazing.
I’ve have a wonderful couple (he’s Belgian and she is German/Bavarian) as neighbors. But I have never spent significant time in Belgium. So I don’t know how I’d feel living in Belgium. It would be great for you to share your experiences.
