A wealth of great advice and inspiring playing. I'd love to have some hefty tab free tomes by you on my shelf. I could sit in peace and study without a rubbishy and intrusive computer interface. Ah well, the good old days. I'm off to watch Gordon Ramsay kiss Ronald Macdonalds ring at a public cookery display, if he is decent and honest enough he'll cook real food despite the surrounding.... you've given me hope.
Late beginner/early intermediate female jazz enthusiast here, in my late 30s too - so very much a late bloomer in guitar. I just bought a yellow telecaster to complement my acoustic guitar; went on TH-cam to search for lessons and insights; searched for jazz, blues and gypsy jazz, and found this charming guy Tim Lerch, who plays a yellow telecaster, jazz, blues and gypsy jazz! ...And he is a stunningly amazing musician and teacher, with a twinkly warm set of eyes, a voice of honey, and a smile that melts me every time! I now have a huge teacher crush - so will join TrueFire. Can't wait to explore all the courses!
Tim is one of those guitarists who will be remembered with the likes of Joe Pass and Bill Frisell. Can't wait for the course to begin. I am sure a lot of people have been waiting for this!
The chord comping is absolutely 💯 🔥 I love the groove here and played with such a wonderful feel. I have played a tele with a Charlie Christian pickup and simply fell in love with it. Thanks Tim, you are awesome 👌
Great stuff! Joe Winder here from Fullerton, Ca i just bought myself a Squire Tele and i am in the process of upgrading it. To sound more Jazz/blues with a Charlie Christian in the neck position. I’m 80 years old, and still trying to learn that smooth jazzy feel just like Tim ala John Pizzerilli. I will Kerry going til my fingers freeze up. I love that Careless Love. That’s my desire to do that. Then i can go quietly into the the abyss
Im really enjoying Tims playing and teaching style too. Ive learned so much just getting started in jazz- blues. I bought this course and found it too advanced for me as a late intermediate jazz player, so I also got Tims 'On location' Jazz Blues Foundations, which I would recommend to anyone getting started do the same. Im just in Etude 1 'A Blues' , but already starting to sound like a jazz-blues player 😊 and picking up confidence to create my own solo arrangement ( which I think is the general idea) Thanks Tim 😊
Ken Brein in York, PA Tim , you are an inspiration! I’ve been on TrueFire for years, and I subscribe to Tim’s TrueFire channel and support him on Patreon. I just bought my first Tele because of you.
Tim has done quite a few VERY NICE "Swing Blues" type things on You Tube with an Archtop. I would LOVE to see him do a Course/Series on stuff like that!
Peder Jelsbak I know a guy who’s equipment is so well maintained. Tweaked tuned cleaned maintained to a state of absolute museum quality perfection. Unfortunately he spends so much time working on his gear that he can’t name the notes in a c major scale. On the other hand there’s Tim Lerch. Who could clearly play circles around anyone else no matter how polished their fretboard looks.
@@mattray8767 - and you know for a fact that he doesn't use those notes or that is just an old guitar, the finish is messed up and those aren't just stains in the wood- not grime? Oh wait - I am wrong so that isn't a possibility - I forgot. Still don't think it is dirt -use your eyes any way you like I guess. Go clean some doorknobs.
this video would improve 1000% if mr lerch just did his thing with it without the peanut gallery. me lerch has very much to contribute and the interruptions are distracting from his presentation of skill and knowledge.. i think someone else needs run the truefire series..
Thanks for tuning in guys, TF is such a great family. I really enjoyed this trip.

P.S. I love Danny Boy, and love playing the Bill Evans version on piano. Would love to get my hands on Tim's lessons on Danny Boy with the guitar.

One minute of Tim's playing at the start of the video and I want to immerse myself in jazz blues. That is exactly how I want to play guitar.

Fantastic stuff Tim - new to your channel looking forward in going though your excellent videos! Cheers from England!
Great stuff - Course now pre-ordered. And to the person who asked what the neck P.U. is, it's a Charlie Christian Blade PU by the look of it.
How about the guitar? What Telecaster is that?
Is there any better expression than “wow” when nothing better can be conjured?

Half an hour in they’re still talking.
Why don't you clean you fretboard ? 😡

I know you are but what am I?
I don't think it's dirty. The finish looks worn from playing the s#*t out of it!
clean that grimy fingerboard! :p
That's not grime - that's play wear. That is what a guitar that gets played looks like.
@@78tag wrong. That's grime. You dont get play wear on the 20th fret of the low E string. Come on man,use your eyes.

@@78tag it's grime dude, the more you talk the dumber you're making yourself look
Who notices that with all the amazing playing. I think its wear not grime btw.
