These days you don't need the music industry as long as you have the drive, a phone and social media, you could blow up on your own. Tom McDonald is a perfect example, of success without the industry, and Soulja Boy was the blueprint. He blew up on a song that had a dance to it and there was no music industry behind it, the only problem was back then TH-cam was still young and for him to do back then what Tom McDonald is doing now would be impossible, so he ended up selling out to the industry for the money. But today it's much different, in some cases you don't even need any talent, kids are dumber and easily entertained now by the latest trendy shit. How many of these ppl became famous for no reason other than being on social media, guys like that kid that caused a riot here in NYC claiming he was giving away free shit, Kai Cenat, he's famous for literally no reason at all, but like I said kids today are weak minded morons who'll follow anything as long as they see it on social media.
