Kisame was just a hands reach from naruto. He could have grabbed him and made it into a hostage situation. Then jiraiya would have no choice but to let them go, and game over for naruto.

Jiraiya would *NEVER* have allowed them to escape with Naruto, no matter what he had to do. For a couple reasons. The first being that he is not about to allow the Akatsuki to just capture the nine-tails uncontested like that. Second, Jiraiya is Naruto's *GODFATHER* which means that he's effectively Naruto's legal guardian/parent now due to Minato & Kushina's deaths. Jiraiya likely just left Naruto in Hiruzen's care prior to this because he figured Naruto would be safe enough within Konoha as long as Hiruzen & Kakashi were there to watch over him, but once Hiruzen died and the Akatsuki became a known and active threat to Naruto, Jiraiya took over as far as caring for Naruto went, as the Akatsuki were far beyond what Kakashi could really handle at this point in time.

Sasuke was completely blinded by rage here. He wasn't thinking clearly in the slightest. At first, Sasuke's primary concern was to get Naruto somewhere where he'd be safe from Itachi, but as soon as Sasuke laid eyes on Itachi he started seeing red and forgot everything except for killing Itachi. That's a very important thing to keep in mind, Sasuke was so blinded by rage here that it was screwing with his head and he wasn't able to come up with proper plans or strategies, and thus he got his arm broken, his ass thoroughly kicked, and his mind royally screwed over for his foolishness and recklessness.
That's why Sasuke fared better in his "proper" fight with Itachi, as Sasuke wasn't allowing his emotions, rage, or hate to blind him like it did here, he forced himself to remain calm and focused so as to not give Itachi any obvious openings like Sasuke did here.
I know Itachi had a reason to do all this but he didn't to have to do Sasuke so dirty bruh, so messed up

Itachi can show whatever he wants in Tsukyomi right? Then how come he didn't show Sasuke that he didn't want to kill their parents right here instead of shippuden?
He wanted sasuke to hate him tho. He wanted to be killed by an uchiha, and whoever killed him would have been the hero who avenged the uchiha.

@@quentinjones6877 Actually Itachi really was supposed to be a bad guy.. that´s why it´s a bit extrem what he did to sasuke in this episode. Like Itachi is supposed to love Sasuke more than anything, I know he has to hide it, but traumatising him to the point where only Tsunade (The best medic known) is able to heal him which wasn´t even in town clearly shows that Kishimoto didn´t really thought the plot through. But later he changed Itachis character and made him the hidden good guy. I think Kishimoto even said it himself in one of the mangas extra page (where he writes little side information about his life, Naruto etc.)
@@simwin4494 that makes more sense because like I said in my previous comment, the physical beating Itachi gave Sasuke was enough to hide his intentions but using Tsukyomi was overboard
@@simwin4494 I felt that Itachi's character was initially supposed to be evil throughout, since the way Itachi acted in front of Sasuke was way too overboard in earlier Naruto episodes for someone to secretly care about him. I suppose the plan was changed later - it was a great choice though. But imagine if Itachi was an antagonist throughout, he would have made an insane villain.
Good thing Itachi and kisame fled from there . I didn't want too see jiraiya get killed. Just speaking facts

@@307nishchay8 also I don't think tyukuyomi would be work on jiraiya tbh, since his chakra is consistently being charged due to the tods gathering Nature energy. One more thing most of the itachis abilities are one shot abilities he can't spam any of them
@@bobthebuilder2872 1. Orochimaru beat Jiraiya before he left the village. 2. Itachi doesn’t need to make eye contact for mangekyo genjutsu.3. Itachi could block any of Jiraiya attacks with the shield and seal any summons. He doesn’t need to spam. Itachi dominates any of the sanin.

@@ispeakfacts6867 What you mean easy?? Kisame was practically dead before fusing with Samehada. And he beat Bee in a war of atrition and did no damage before eating most of his chakra. The same tactic may not work on a sage because Kisame could turn into stone (same as what happened to that one Pain). Also Bee was kinda weakened and had to look out for Sabu and Ponta and Kisame took advantage of this.
