As someone who started on a TW200, to a Tenere 700, and now to a GL1100: I definitely recommend to try other disciplines of bike. Even going from a dual sport to an adventure touring bike is a different type of riding than upgrading from a Rebel 500 to a Rebel 1000 for example. But all in all if you are curious about other disciplines and you have the opportunity I'd recommend giving it a try personally.
I watch 1K riders and I ride in urban areas 99% of the time they are in first gear ALL the time and that would bore me to death. shifting is half the fun. (which is why 1K owners do crazy stuff to get out of 1st or 2nd gear) IMO
The time is always now, as long as you're not on the top end of what you want/need that your wallet can afford. There's also things like tech and new features of another bike. People can complain all they want about tech but being able to just turn off wheelies or having the bike save you from a slide is amazing. I can do stupid things on all bikes. But I'm sensible enough to know not to be a dumbass. Also, I'm not getting a bike mainly for fun. It's still just transportation for the most part.
I went and sat on a Rebel500 over the weekend... I'm just too tall for it. I'm 185cm and I heard of others taller than me saying it's fine, but tbh I felt like a dead spider on the thing lol
Because its a road that isnt meant to be used? Why use ⅔ of the road lol... it isnt a rule to not do it and also less chance of death by someone swinging out
It's time to upgrade your bike when your present bike keeps breaking down. With the speed limits and the fines in Australia I'll never understood why anybody would want a big bike that you have to drive everywhere in no more then 3rd gear.
If you can't explain what you want to do on a bike that you can't do on your bike, all you're doing is throwing money at the problem of being unfulfilled in life, and it's not going to work.
Night-time vlogs sound good - if you can tolerate the cold riding at night in the winter
Cold is never an issue

What makes people to drive in middle lane when there are no cars in left hand one ?
Cuz then you're not bothered by people turning into the road

Yeah that

@@sergeantwombat stick with your 500 unless of course you have about Aus.$20,000 burning a hole in your pocket to upgrade to a new 1100, then go wild.
