We still have other's that know the dream too and are keeping the dream alive cheers to you Ray Scott. Without the dream and idea we would still be at square one but thanks to you Ray Scott you have made bass fishing and bass so much better not only that but the forage species management as well. Ray Scott you were and still are the man. And your many friends are making the mark as well and so am I
Dave, what a way to end 2022.. Denny is one of the greatest!! You're doing an excellent job with this podcast, I hope to get to meet you in March! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!!
@@factsoffishing thanks for this great interview! Denny boat flipping bigguns is forever ingrained in my fishing memories. On a side note, how is Trip doing? I’d love to see him on the podcast again soon! Love hearing the great stories from the early Bass and elite days from Trip! Thanks buddy and Happy New Year !
Yup Denny got me into flipping as well .. not a better feeling in the world than pitching a big 3/4 ounce Jig into a big ol buck brush or in a willow tree in 5 ft of water & feel that thump & watch your jig swim out & you rare back & set the hook & remove the soul from that big ol bass , lol .. he's my all time favorite professional
My favorite Denny Brauer moment will forever be the big catch and fist pump at the 1992 Megabucks on Guntersville. Most iconic moment in the sport in my opnion.
His win on Buggs Island years ago was a great one to . Flipping a Zoom lizard if I remember correctly. Don’t remember the year but I would say mid 90’s
Denny was/is a hero of mine in my early years of tournament fishing. Great interview! Love listening to your interviews. Being retired I’m so busy it’s difficult to find time to watch them all
Schooled by Denny was one of the best fishing shows ever. Not sure why it didn’t stick. He is a great teacher. Love his demeanor and attitude. Happy Holidays!!
I fiahed a Canadian Open and Denny was also competing. Met him and his wife at the dinner the night before the event. Thanks for the pic with your wife at that event in Kingston Ontario.
Just before last day weighin , outside the Flora McDonald park marina, I was with my day 3 partner, Tom Mann Jr., and we were gunnel to gunnel to Denny and Joe Thomas, and i was in total AWE! I said out loud...." I watch you guys every week on Bassmasters!"
I remember this guy and David Fritz came and gave a live seminar at my local community college, and I got to go see them when I was 12. Maybe 13. Very informative and entertaining. Denny Brauer is truly a professional of the sport.
Dave, Outstanding show as always, but this one was a little more special to me. Denny was the first professional fisherman who I had the pleasure of meeting. He was my hero so my dad took me to meet him. The year was 1994, Table Rock Lake in April, (I think) I was a 10 year old fishing 🥜. I mean I was completely ate up with it, and 30 years later I still am. I would say 95% of my time is doing something, anything, everything, related to fishing. Everything I do revolves around fishing. ( I might have a problem 🤷) Anyway, I met Denny after weigh in, we talked for a bit, he signed my hat and then handed me a handful of jigs and some trailers. I hadn't ever used a jig at that time, (mostly just spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and crankbaits at that time) but Denny had told me to lock that jig in my hand and learn how to use it, so I went home and started flipping one of those jigs into a coffee can anytime I had free time. And I got good with it too. Jigs then became the only thing I would use on the weekends when my dad and I went fishing. I didn't pick anything else up for the rest of that entire year. I learned just how versatile a jig could be. And to this day, I hold both Denny, and the jig in very high regard. That man was such a huge influence on me. A lot of pros were, but Denny moreso than anyone else by far. I met up with him many times after that day at the Rock, and every time he just as nice and humble and patient with me as the first. I have so much respect for him and I am so glad that you had him on the show Dave. You have yourself a Merry Christmas Dave. P. S. Denny if you happen to read this, thank you for everything you've done. You are appreciated. Merry Christmas 🎄
I fished with Denny as a co angler and every time we made a move he would give me a hunk of deer jerky. What an enjoyable day! Also I showed up before takeoff and I always took 2 hats in case one flew off. My hands were full so I had the 2 hats on my head. I forgot they were there and sat down in his seat. He finely said ok what’s with the 2 hats a great laugh. He then gave me the name 2 hats. Great day!!
Dave, your quality podcasts are bringing a sensible look at Bass fishing history…guest by guest. A lot of good historical information from those that brought us here.
That was great. Denny is my favorite by far. It was amazing getting to see him win here on the Arkansas river with all the fun that was involved with that tournament. I learned that if you zero the first day don't keep fishing within a cast of the leader. That and pray at the locks.
Thank you so much. I’m really enjoying it. So thankful for my amazing friends (guests). Wait until you see what we have planned to kick off 2023. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Mercer, was sitting there in the back making sure the iPad didn’t quit on him. Really enjoyed this segment. Thank you so much was fun. Love your podcasts.
Great Podcast. Denny is a Legend. I’m 73 and still my favorite jig is the Denny Brauer Lunker Lure Rattleback jig. Still catch big ones on it. Have so many my wife says I have a addiction for them. Have A Happy New Year
Denny found away into my mind. Every time I take my boat out I hear his voice about my boat position and how I cast to my targets. He is a boulder that can take it and dish it out. I have a lot of respect for him. He always found a different way to flip a different bait. What I take from him is to try what I think might work. I loved his tv show, schooled by Denny! Great show!
The man, the myth, the legend!!!! A fishing icon to me and so many others. Way nicer than his reputation suggests! LOL. And he's in dog gone good shape for his age and l bet he could still whoop up on some of the young fellas on tour today! Thanks Dave, merry Christmas
Denny was the only other fisherman to parallel Rick Clunn . There will never be anyone to have the presence that he and Rick have had in this sport . My opinion they are equal in their on way . I would trade all of the forward facing sonars in the world to fish with him . His knowledge rivals all of modern technology . Thanks Denny !

Late to the party. But if you ask me who I looked up to in bass fishing there are only a few names that come up. Rick Clunn, Hank Parker, Larry Nixon, David Fritts, and then man that turned me into a rabid jig fisherman, Denny Brauer. Thanks for this interview. Really enjoyed it.
Favorite impact Denny had on me was Jig Fishing, especially with his input of helping design the 1st rattle jig Lunker lure rattleback jig and the comment at a seminar when i was young. "you can have any color Jig in your box as long as it is black and blue" Another thing i was hoping to hear you ask Dave was what is the safety of fishing down there on Amistad with the border on the lake and does he keep a gun in the boat for the cartel pirates.
Great show Matt love Won bass I have been a subscriber on and off since the early 70s and miss the fishing. In CA now living in Ohio not to many places catch bass compared to California has got me thinking of maybe trying the aaa.this year
I have that cereal box, didn’t know it had any value. Denny is the angler that I most styled my fishing after. During my brief time on the BASS Invitational trail I would see him fishing the same areas as me. He had a lower boat number than me at an event that I finished in the top 10 and started on my first stop. He lead day one and finished 3rd. I think if I had a lower boat number I might have one. They were on beds and Denny got them all and never came back. I think he often fished fresh water every day because that wasn’t the only event that I only saw him on day one.

Now you're just showing off Dave. We see who all the legends trust. Keep it up brother I can't get enough. But please try to get Frittz along with Davis whom I already mentioned
There was once a fellow that was said to beable to flip a jig in a knot hole at 60 feet and still land that 4.7 back through that knot hole! I still believe its true!
