- SHE CRASHED IT!!! Sailing the Virgin Islands - Chase the Story 23
We sailed Cheeky Monkey into St. John in the US Virgin Islands with a mission to run the 8 Tuff Miles road race and also to finally get our Swellpro Splash Drone off the ground and flying!
The drone was a bit of a disaster but the running around St. John was a blast! Sure, this is a sailing channel but we like to get off the boat now and then to do crazy things like run around islands and try to fly our drone without crashing into anything or anyone. Sometimes we're successful...sometimes we're not.
Either way, I hope you enjoy our land adventures as well as our sailing escapades!
Happy sailing everyone!
Tasha, Ryan & the Cheeky Monkey Crew

Chase the Story - A Sailing Adventure
Many have asked about our drone -- it's a Swellpro Splash Drone, a waterproof amphibious drone we purchased from Urban Drones. The manual is, admittedly, hard to follow but the team at Urban Drones is on call via phone and Skype to talk customers through the set up. They've been immensely helpful and supportive. To find out more about them, visit: www.urbandrone...

when you talk to the camera it is like you talking to me, your friends i never had and could only wish to be connected to, that was the best video yet.
When I was growing up in St. John, back in 1971-1978, their were only about 1200 people who lived on the whole Island. Thanks for another great video.
S/V Unbridled. You guys are the best. Ryan you make it look easy man. Tasha- too much fun. Cheers
Great video! I think 2 races in a few days was a lot but that is just me. It looks like you guys are having a blast! Enjoy.
I really enjoyed this episode for so many reasons. I love running too and what an awesome opportunity to see such amazing destinations on your runs! How cool was it to run into all your friends too!
Friends, running, DRONE, and the USVI...it doesn't get better. Another great vid production!
Well done guy's another cracking story, look forward to each and every release.
jeez, I love Tasha's video editing. it's just fluid and very different from the other people that have been at the helm the last few. ... in other words, great job!
Great video! We love the graphics on your boat. You have inspired us to think about a new name for our future Helia.
I have been following all your videos and this is your best one yet! i really enjoyed watching it. You guys keep getting better!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this vlog! You guys are Awesome! Cheers!
I am so glad to have found your channel. Love your videos and enjoy watching your adventures. I check each day for new videos and love it when you've posted a new one. Can't wait to see what you produce when using the drone!

Best sailing channel out there. Great editing skills!
Great job on the St. John runs. Isn't it beautiful on St. John.

Terry
Thanks, enjoyed the journey again! Cheers from Switzerland
excelent video, as allways...continue enjoying life!!
I like they way your friend is just sitting quietly in the background reading her book,
thinking . . . .
Please fill in the blank spaces lol

Thank you for making me smile
Thanks for telling us we made you smile :-)
Thanks for telling us we made you smile :-)
Y'all are just fantastic! You'll reach over a 100k subscribers in no time.
Love the vids, can't Waite till you post the next one!
Nice to see another video shipmates. Feel your frustration with that dodgy Splash Drone and the terrible instructions. That's why we kept to the DJI Phantom 3 Pro and Inspire Pro - but at least you managed to have a flight in the end - Shake that sand out 100% otherwise the motors will become ruined. Fair winds from Curacao
Hah, love how you refer to Rick Moore for quadcopter operations in the Caribean Isles.....LOL
Charming, as always.
Tasha my wife said to me at the end of your explanation of why you like running... "See, I'm not the only one". Ryan... I feel for you. It's tough having a partner that goes crazy/crazier just because they haven't gone running.
+Jayvan Ruddick-Collins My advice to you, dear sir, is to hand your wife her running shoes and get out of her damned way...then once she's out of sight, relish in your good fortune in finding such a strong capable partner who can run down a problem with her sheer determination ;-). I hope to run into you both on an island somewhere! -Tasha
Really enjoyed Water Island myself. Of course we didn't have a boat, but Honeymoon Beach was great!!!!
Great Video! Rick Moore lives in the BVI. You should have shot him an email. He is really good at answering back. I just got back three weeks ago from a 7 day sailing trip in the BVI and it was spectacular. I got in the dingy the same way every time. I cant believe i survived...LOL!
I enjoy the stories/videos, we keep our boat on Nantucket and familiar with Summertime Rolls, small world!
+MegaSeadogg Wow! It is a small world! :-)
Ryan and Tasha, hope that is spelled right, you make some great videos and the 2 of you make a great team besides your riding on a great boat. I like how you both talk to us and show a great experience. Oh yeah, dude she is crazy, but then how lucky you are, but I don't think your that different!
Amazingly Beautiful!!
I hope you guys are coming to visit Sydney at some time. I would love to meet you. Thanks for sharing all the fun and great times.
Probably best to learn a drone on land in a big open field. Currently waiting on a Lily waterproof drone. Great vlog! Sail to live, live to sail!
The "select group of lunatics" comment caught me unawares, and slayed me. 😂😂😂
Hopefully the temperature was much lower on the trail run than at sea level...Great video!
Totally love your videos and your travel. I did notice in She Went Over Board that you was fishing but holding the Rod and Reel upside down and reeling backward with your left hand. Try using the Reel up and reeling "forward" with your right hand. Life will be so much better. Have lots of fun and great travels. I have a Wellcraft 290 Coustal and navegate the Spanish, US and British Virgin islands.
Hi; Great work. I just binge watched 23 episodes. Great work. I can't believe the autopilot did no t work that whole time on a brand new boat. You guys did a GREAT job with video production. I hope to buy a boat in the next few weeks (survey on May 31) and move down to live the dream after the summer. Fair winds, following seas!
We finally fixed it in St. Martin :) Good luck with your new boat and we hope the survey went well!!
Ryan I spit out my coffee laughing when you said "if she doesn't run......😜 you guys Rock!
Ryan, you're a crack up!
Loved the video. How did the cross Island trail run end up? Looking forward to the next one.
You guys are awesome. We enjoy your stories. If you ever come to Louisiana, please look us up! Would love to show you our area and foods!
Great video.
Love your videos, you guys should come to the Bay Islands ( Utila, Roatan and Guanaja ). They are part of the Mesoamerican Berrier Reef. They have the best diving spots in the Caribbean and it is one of the cheapest (utila) places in the world to get Padi Certified. Have a great one.
Man, all of your videos are first class edition, specially the chosen musics, congratulations, by the way brazilian coast will be part of your plans ?
After seeing all the cool stuff in this video, great bays, beautiful St. John, hanging out on big catamarans, amazing sunrises and sunsets, waterproof drones, adventure races, Brandy just wants to know where she can get a Skipper tank top. Girls!
Still looking for a boat that will take me! Love you guys!!!
Awesome video as usual :)
Found you guys on +Monday Never and love your channel. How do you like the drone?
From watching Fabian Cancellara racing in the Tour de France, I learned that you can get rid of the bad luck of being #13 by flipping the number upside-down.
I hear Rick's voice on the instruction video funny love your adventure
thanks for using my song @11:30 =)
+aérotique Hey! What an awesome song - thanks for letting us use it. I'd love to use more - how can we get in touch with you?
thank you! you can hit me up on facebook, soundcloud, on my website or use info@aerotique.eu. I'd love to be featured in your next videos. =)
lol, ryan "i think she is crazy". u guys b safe.... subed
Good "footage"..... Lots of running. Did the autopilot work. Where did you get the floating bean bag?? Cheers
Just a little FYI, if you weren't happy with the Drone footage you should look at LUTs. They help color correct for different scenarios. And they are preset. You won't have to spend forever trying to get it right. Just overlay on the footage (If you are using Final Cut or Premier)
Thanks for that! I need to learn about color correction - it would help!
Great videos!!
Love it!
OMG Colleen WOW!!!!
cool guys and ware is your cats in all this ?
you need to rotate the Splash drone COUNTER clockwise for the 6 planes. You spun clockwise in the video. That will lead to improper compass calibration.
Where did you get that floating bean bag chair... It's awesome... Our kids would love it too... We outfitting our new boat s/v Summer Kai... Hope we see you out there some day!
+Christian Henry I LOVE that thing! I bought it for 100 euros in a Leroy Merlin in La Rochelle, France. But I got the idea when I saw one in the Dominican Republic. You can make your own -- you just need a big cheese cloth sack of styrofoam beads and a sunbrella cover with a mesh panel to let the water drain out :-)

HA how did the race end??????
+greg sage I got lost, of course, and ran 15.5 miles instead of 13.6. But I still finished in the top half, lol! -Tasha
all tht good eating hubby getting little tummy lol ;]
הי, תדעי שגם בישראל רואים את הסרטונים הנפלאים שלך. אני מרגיש שאני חלק מהחוויה.
Now we're all wondering how the second race went! :)
Does the manufacturer of the boat cover the fixing of all the stuff you guys have had issues with? Specifically the autopilot?
+Jay Collett Fountaine-Pajot covers only what they install. The autopilot was installed post-factory so we have to go to Garmin and Raymarine (we have two now). Unfortunately our broker hired a non-authorized dealer to install our Garmin so none of that work is covered by Garmin now. It's all a very complicated pain that often leads back to the broker.
+Chase the Story Sailing Ah. Thanks for the reply. Amazing videos (wonderful editing) and I'm very much enjoying the binge watch! I've learned from and enjoyed every video!
how'd Tasha's second race go?
As predicted, I got lost and ran 15.5 miles instead of 13.6 - still finished in the top half though! -Tasha
+Chase the Story Sailing LOL well that's good time :)
Does Honda make a sailboat?
aha..."a select group of lunatics!" woooooo...I love it....damn ole son...you have any idea how much trouble that comment is going to generate for you in the next ???
+Uncle Muir hey dude I called no one anything I just directly quoted the video
LOL you were watching Rick Moores instruction vid for your drone.
Never trust Canadian Pirates
Tasha - that disinformational manual for your drone is written in Chinglsh - at least that's what we call that kind of written non-English!
I love this girls attitude, her husband is a lucky guy even tho, I'm sure she drives him nuts once in awhile.
+bob smith Once in a while? Ha! You're too kind...;-) -Tasha
Can we take our next vacation with you guys? 🤑⛵️⚓️
Manual was written in Chenglish!
I wish I had two engines on my cat :'(
I just hit up your blog. Any suggestions for a news reader? Been so long since I've used an RSS feed. And I have a blog too on life support. Seems everyone is on TH-cam.
Seems easiest to follow on Facebook.
I use Bloglovin' to follow blogs when online. I use Pulse for reading blogs offline :-). Thanks so much for dropping in to the blog! -Tasha
i love pain killers in bvi usvi
uhhhh. you can't RUN in the Middle of the Ocean. Hope you got a waterproof drone. F.W.F.S.
My advice for you, Buy a DJI Phantom!!!
Is the Phantom water proof? I think that may be the attraction of the Splash Drone.
jmb180 Maybe, but the quality was terrible!
Auto pilot failures and no repairs on a half a million dollar boat. Don't say much about the manufacturer do it. Should change the manufacturers name to Lada
Uncle Muir
I have always said, It's better to just buy a an empty hull and fit it out yourself. OR buy something two or three years old to know what your getting and possible future repairs. Unless you got money to throw away, then it don't matter.
Yes it is the components and not the boat, but it is factory recommended components and the factory don't stand behind the components it recommends.
Uncle Muir
I'm not 100% sure how it works with new boats, but with RV's the components (ie, fridge, AC , furnace, batteries, etc ) is covered under the component manufacturer's warranty. The builder (FP in this case ) don't stand behind it, they just pass the buck and you have to deal with the components company.
As for making noise, at least 25% of the subscribers would have to flood the FP site with complaints and attack all their social media articles , That is assuming, Chase the Story Sailing did the proper reporting as outlined in the purchase agreement. There in lies the problem, purchase agreements are very clear (in the fine, fine print) how to and who to report issues for warranty work
My guess is that being on a boat and being as physically fit as Tasha is, she probably doesn't turn into a "raging bitch" as I believe he put it, but she probably gets antsy. As in, nervous energy. I can recall spending a lot of time on the boat and being in super good shape and I would find myself diving into the water to cool off and then after swimming a mille or so, I had worked out the antsy's. haha. She's normal in my book!!
Why is this vid in 240p?
It looks terrible.
+firebert010 That happens when the video is still processing. Check it now - the quality is showing 1080 on my browser. -Tasha
+Chase the Story Sailing
Thanks! Looks great now, I guess I was a little too eager :)
