Idk man. The Taizo vs Kyuma fight was good, but THE CHEMISTRY AND DIALOGUE BRO! UNREAL! SURREAL! Top friendship in all of Vanguard! (Okay, this is kind of a hyperbole but you get the point)
my thoughts on each fight: Suo vs Kuon: I don't think this fight did what they wanted it to do for me. I feel like Kuon is definitely weaker than Suo, which is the opposite of what they wanted me to feel. other than that, 6/10. Taizo vs Kyohma: The best fight of the arc hands down. Their dynamic is great, plus the argument of priorities vs dreams is one that I resonate with. 10/10. Masanori vs Jinki: A great fight, albeit not a very impactful one. The final turn definitely harms this one a bit too. 7/10. Mikoto vs Yuna: Mikoto was already best girl, but this matchup brought out the best of her character. Yuna's already grown on me too. 9/10. Nao vs Senka: A solid fight, but I wish Senka wasn't so 1-dimensional. 7/10. Akina vs Hikari: Hikari's deck seems so fun. Other than that, Akina feels unusually weak character-wise in this fight, which I know is intentional, but still brought down the excitement for me here. Other than that, I'm looking forward to Hikari's next matchup. 7/10.
I don't think Akina is watered-down here. He made 5 attacks with pretty big power. He had a full hand which could and DID protect him for 1 turn. He used his new support card like the others. (Even though he probably didn't use the intercept for some reason) Hikari just has such an OP unit that Akina's seems kinda meh in comparison. You could say that this Liael is a counter to Rezael directly, much like future Hikari had Sarjes that could even the power from any trigger. Very symbolic and damn good writing imo.
Imo, if anyone got weaker just for the sake of plot, it should definetely be Suo. In his fight with Akina even in his first turn with Blangdmire, he was ruthless with his high power on units and constant resource systems. Here he didn't even have Zamud, his signature mini boss. Also, as one could probably tell, if Suo went first, he would win 100%. Kuon has no counter to Blangdmire and he doesn't even have nearly the resources to block a powered up to the max Blangdmire plus all Suo's other units. In other words, LOOK HOW THEY MASCARED MY BOY!
@@NoirEmperor18 I love how I specified character-wise for Akina, and yet you only mention the dueling action. also, I even mentioned that I knew why they did it, which was to show how lost Akina is, but that it still brings the duel down a bit for me.
@@NoirEmperor18 okay, but Akina beat Suo when Suo used his full power, so why should I feel worried about Akina facing Kuon, which is clearly what they wanted to build up. like, I get that Suo's OP, but then he shouldn't be the one they have lose to build up the next antagonist.
@@cblazerc True. He was just the unfortunate one here since all the others had ties and conflicts with each and every one of their opponents. Although, you could say that Kuon is like fiting against Suo too, since the names of their aces are opposites, one supports and the other takes and their personalites are also polar opposites. It is just unfortunate that they had to make him be defeated in the first fight of the show, after showing how trully powerful he is.
