    How can anybody give todderbart a thumbs down , there are some real sick and twisted people in this world who have had a deep overpowering hatred of radio's since birth . Luckily these types are exceedingly rare because todderbart is a Godsend .

    Big Monster radios like this are great fun for just what you’re doing now. And this one has a heck of a backlight on it. I could see myself sitting at some point camping and enjoying this.

      This radio works amazing away from electronics and power lines and is one of the best camping radios made.

      This radio is not big at all except for reception , it's quite small actually and far from a monster .

    • @jeromeglick
      @jeromeglick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want a big monster radio? Talk about the 1930s Philco "Super Hi-Fi" consoles, or the 1950s Magnavox Wedgewood, Concert Grand, Imperial, etc. They were instruments, like an upright piano, a piece of furniture.

    • @RJDA.Dakota
      @RJDA.Dakota 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeromeglick I remember those. When I was a small child we had a big mahogany Magnavox system that had a turntable and a large dial with shortwave on it. That speaker was over 12 inches. It was a MONSTER.

    CCrane greatly reduced the pop when you turn the radio on, it`s barely noticeable, and there`s no popping issues with the LED. This is one of the best portable FM receivers I`ve ever seen. I thought I was getting skip the first few times I used it. I haven`t had any issues with mine.

    Here's what Jay Allen had to say about the EP PRO .
    The CC-EP Pro offers reception which is as good as it gets in this class…this and the top of the line CC-2E/CC-3 are both top tier performers. At the price of $89.99 the CC-EP Pro represents the best reception and sound available for the price…and even at double the price. It is a bargain.

    I just got this radio a few days ago to be able to dx MW - it is a beautiful little device. Thank you for you videos - I decided on the EP Pro because of your videos from two years ago...

    Enjoyed the video. Such an excellent simple AM/FM radio. While I would not mind having this radio because I find it appealing, it will probably be a while before I get one since I already have the also excellent CCradio 3.

    One thing I do with the EP PRO that really really makes a difference is when I slowly scan I constantly move the 'Narrow to Wide' bandwidth knobs back and forth because one of those positions will usually come in a lot louder and clearer than just keeping the bandwidth switch on 'Narrow or Wide' for the entire scan.

    The fact you picked up WCHS is outstanding!! There 5KW signal points away from you, and sends "most of" there radiation to the south east, with 10% going north and 10% going south. You should not even be able to hear them. I'm sold on this radio just on that alone.

    I love this radio for AM and FM. On AM - it's easy to get around not having a digital readout by starting on a known station and counting off 10kHz "clicks" - they are easy to hear.

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Easy to tune by the clicks. You will never get lost on the dial.

    • @RJDA.Dakota

      I used to do this as well. Many times in the dark when I can’t really see the dial but can still hear the frequency change every 10.

    Wondered why AM was poor last night. Turned radio around and noticed it was set for EXT antenna. Instead of INTernal antenna. A simple fix! One of my best DX radios. From Central Florida I get 820 in DFW on good nights. 1200 miles! My longest DX city so far! Need to try a wire antenna next time.

    You should try to catch "Couson Brucie's Saturday Rock and Roll party" on 77 WABC, 6-10pm. Its cool because he's an original DJ from that station in the 60s. They play vintage jingles, music, take calls, and of course the personality of Bruce himself is cool! I know there are people listening all over the country on radio and online. Then after brucie's show, there is a show hosted by Tony Orlando, which is also a music show! Then on Sundays, there is Sinatra with Joe piscopo at 8pm, and a Live in-studio Jazz show!

      @@todderbert yup! I’m actually listening to cfzm 740 on a vintage sears SW/AM/FM set. It’s super sensitive! I’m on Long Island in NY. It doesn’t hit me quite as strong as you get it, but it’s pretty clear!

    Excellent and timely demonstration. I just ordered this radio and am curious how it will compare to my ancient 1970s era Montgomery Ward Airline MultiBand (10 bands, SW, CB, Air Traffic, etc.). I listen to the Montgomery Ward radio daily and it still works perfectly. I’d say I earned an upgrade just for taking good care of the old radio. I’ll see how the EP Pro stacks up and probably add an external antenna for some serious DX dial digging. Thanks again.

    DSP based radio using the Silicon Labs SI4734 DSP chip shame it doesn't have a SPDIF/TOSLINK sockets for Stereo via a sound bar or a YAMAHA 5.1 Surround Sound Decoder.

    I just read some Amazon reviews and some are stating that when you turn this radio on it won’t necessarily be on the last station you left it and you will have to re-tune it. Have you found this to be true? If so this is very frustrating for such a quality radio and also considering cheap little transistor radio‘s don’t even have that issue.
    Does dxing on this compete with the skywave?
    Wow the pro and skywave are the same price at the moment! I suppose many would say that’s apples and oranges considering the size for sure but it’s hard not to go with the pro.

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never had an issue with frequency drift. I have a station I listen to daily, and every time I turn it on, it is there. Rock Solid. I'm guessing they are bumping the large tuning knob. My radio is located at the the back of my desk where nothing can touch the Tuning or Volume wheels.

    So I like it but as far as reception I’m curious to know how it compares with the original GE super radio. Can anyone say.

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some say they are equals. The EP-Pro is a beast on FM, and AM. The GE will let you ease into an AM station, and may possibly be the better AM radio, but as an overall radio, I prefer my EP-Pro.

    Why is it better to channel surf with the radio flat on its back? I’d have thought standing strait would be better? Is it harmful at all to leave a radio like this on its back?

    • @stevecounts325
      @stevecounts325 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion he lays the radio down for the camera,the lighting,and lastly for the ease of aiming the antenna the correct direction. It doesn’t help or hinder the radio’s reception in any way. I don’t imagine the radio is harmed in any way. Do it however you like.

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only issue you would have is if you had external antennas attached to the back side. My filming setup is from above, so lying the radio flat is ideal.

    Great review. I loved the simplicity of this radio, but returned it. To me even for a small price of 89 bucks I believe they shouldn't use such cheap plastic.

    • @baneverything5580

      I guess you don`t like quality receivers that perform well. Every portable radio I`ve ever seen was made of plastic. My EP PRO fell from a truck onto concrete and survived without damage. I don`t care about anything but performance when it comes to radios. This radio was 100% designed for performance. It`s beyond unique and has the best AM and FM reception capability possible in a portable receiver. It`s ridiculous to order a perfectly fine product in working condition then return it on a whim...
