    ✨🌟Would you take a blow torch to your guitar?🌟✨

    • @brettmeldahl4456
      @brettmeldahl4456 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took a blow torch to my resonator...all that chrome has such pretty purples and yellows, etc. Got the idea from case hardening on my guns.

    • @brettmeldahl4456
      @brettmeldahl4456 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I wanted to add something you might have fun trying. Aside of torching all the chrome on my resonator and adding a Lace Sensor neck pickup i built an internal spring reverb system using hooks, and springs of course, and a simple transducer pickup. The guitar is now a stereo output as far as electronics go. Being weird i used a 1930s bakelite two pole light switch to turn off the pickups. Looking for a second so I can split them.
      ANYWAY...I needed a way to eliminate the reverb when I didn't want it...that part I will keep my little secret. If you ask I will give both a hint and a $thx.

A shout out on your show w/a pic of a couple of my pieces will get you blueprints if you ever decide to do the project. Uts pretty cool to be able to turn off both the electric portion of the reverb but the "analogue"/spring portion as well. Im such an attention w***e! 😉

  • @ErebosGR
    @ErebosGR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To avoid burning the wood too quickly and damaging it, use a blowtorch with a long and/or thick nozzle to slow down the gas and make the combustion incomplete (orange flame), lowering the temperature of the flame, and work in multiple passes. Butane burns cooler than propane and it's less pressurized, so it is more preferable.
    A paraffin/kerosene flame gun works best though because it burns even cooler.

  • @afterlifeguitars

    So when I have burnt wood before, I haven't been happy with the results. That's because I have sanded back too much. I think I'll try out your method in future. I love the look so much

      @@KingBespokeCreations True but attacking it with a brush first gives you options. I'm seriously considering a burnt finish for my scratch build. It has to have either a paint job or something like this. Not the top just the bottom part of the body as I'm not happy with how it looks. We'll see....

    I do two things differently but that doesn't mean I'm right and he is wrong it just means we do them differently. 1: I make use of aluminum tape. 2: I added aluminum angle to the side of the saw farthest from the piece being burnt and this gives either a better hold for my failing hands or I have a modified drill press stand with a multi-vise and I can get the saw in place and leave til the morning and it's still right where I want it.

    • @KingBespokeCreations
      @KingBespokeCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s pretty much what I did with the aluminium foil. The issue with foil tape would be the flame melting the stickiness and it falling away.
