I think you got it mix up. pretty sure the matte one is the original. I've watched other videos. all of them said that the matte grill one is the original and shiny one is a fake one.
He did mix the cap up for a second. Mine looks real but for the matt cap and the light blue ring in cap that also has a point in it. You also have a 10 year old beta. Not sure that the best one to go by no pun intended
The ORIGINAL Shure beta also comes with the bag that has SHURE BETA label on the outside but the inner lining is white. I bought the original from an authorized dealer here.
What most people aren't taking into account...the "shine" comes from years of handling. Also shure uses thick gauge wire for thier grilles. It's very easy to see imo.
I agree with earlier comments, the captions have been swapped.. @5:03 I experienced using this mic, the one on right hand is definitely the genuine one (not shiny grille). @10:41, you accidentally swapped their grilles @8:57 and forgot to return it? Right is the genuine one, easy to tell the quality of decal engraving and the body color is correct, it is not supposed to be thick painted dark.
Got your covers mixed up... without question the flat matte cover is real.. Also the fake one is deeper teal color... the real one has a x-ed through recycle can inside the xlr opening with the 3 pins.
I agreed with Michael J. the none shiny one is the real. My understanding, the Shure grill is never shiny, it's a matt color (none shiny). OMG! AudioCraZ can't even tell. I am pretty sure the quality between the fake and the real is very CLOSE TO EACH OTHER, because they copy the full design and blue print.
That’s tough man, in my experience (having both the real beta 58 and knockoffs confirmed by Shure, I would have guessed for sure that the shorter less shiny mic was the authentic . This bothers me even more, these counterfeiters are relentless
that’s what I thought too…. I watched several videos of shure beta58A real vs fake… just got mine and it’s the shorter and less glossy one and according to most of the videos, it is the real one but this video says otherwise. This is messing my head now…
I have some Shure microphones and I am confused here, i think maybe by accident you mix them up, i think the mate one is the original, mine is mate too,
that guy, is not clearly knowing what hes talking bout. All his comments are subjective stuff, watta woulda kind. Where is tech comparison in different situations. Do measurements, give us math - digits dont lie, and are not subjective.
I’m in Japan and just accidentally bought one of these fakes second hand. Shure Japan won’t even confirm or deny its authenticity so I’ll just have to lie and say I’m in the USA for my next support email I guess 🤷
Sir, I think you've accidentally switched them around somehow.. The fake mics can be spotted a mile away by the thin'ish grill's they have. Original shure mics have the thicker wire on the grills. You'll see it clearly at 10:40. Also, the blue ribbon on the real shure's are light blue, the fakes use a pale blue ribbon 10:44. Another test you can do is side rejection. The REAL beta58 will have more side rejection than a fake.
Yeah, lots of scammers doing this. I recently bought a few on eBay and the guy tried to charge a 40% restock fee, so he would still be profitable on the return. Submitted a ticket to eBay and got that back as well.
your testing of any microphone should be done through a software program to see the frequency response. it is difficult to tell if the range of frequency has discrepancies. also use frequency generator to test the frequencies. also sensitivity issue is a big test for any mike for feedback when the mike is far from your mouth. thanks for sharing.
Please . I need you help me. does the aliexpress grill smell bad? I payed high amount of money for this micropohne but the grill looks like aliexpress in this video. the white box has manufacture labels on side, and mentions Made in MExico.
I will just say that the knockoff, if it is one (i would rather choose to trust you), is probably designed to look like a more modern design of shure's beta 58. What you have is most likely to be an older design. I'd be curious to know what country these mic's say they are made in? You can find the country of origin on the bottom of the microphone.
I plan on doing a follow up video, as the more I look at this mic, it looks like they knocked off a SM58, and then slapped a "Beta 58" logo on it. The more I look at this thing, the more I laugh. When I can get all 3 mics together, I will do a follow up video.
Nice review. Planning to buy one for karaoke use😂😂😂 Can I ask what brand are those desktop mic stands you have in this video. They look sleek and sturdy. Thanks.
I am also confused. After saying all of these words about how the real one has higher quality in every details, people are telling him his 'REAL' one is actually fake.
Oh also if the shiny one has 3 holes on the side its definitely fake. There should only be 2 holes. I coudnt see the side of the one u said was real but thats a way you check instantly. U did show thevside of aliexpress beta 58 and it looks legit. Shure mics always have a matte finish on the grill not shiney.
Actully, Shure has made both Matte (Beta 58) and chrome (SM 58). The older Beta 58's from the 70's and 80's all were chrome. They always make slight changes over the years with materials. It looks like they tried to make it look similar to a Beta 58, but the SM58 knock off grills are easier to get ahold of. Just put a blue band on the grill and voila! And as an update, the knock off died a few months back. Started sounding really bad.
I honestly believe they were trying to clone a SM58, then put the Beta 58 Badge on it... They probaby sell the same clone with different badging and grills.
All here saying fake this fake that, nobody is audio engineers and only uses the mics for récord cover or play live for 10 persons, you can do it big things with fake or original mics, The talent is not reduced to one mic clowns
Both microphones in this video are fake. Do not bother to argue about which one is original. There are a lot of small details that let you identify the original microphone. Both these microphones don't pass the comparison test showing many abnormalities.
The sound are similary. The real Shure are better but for the cost the real Beta58A is too expensive for dynamique microphone. But order a copy on aliexpres is not good idae. Chines are able to build microphone. There are some chinese passionate microphone hardware and it build own design. And the result are amazing! for the price reasonnable between 150€ and 500€ but not cheap because it's not a BM800 ;)
They do, but there is a quality difference between them. Plus, I know how rugged a genuine 58 is. Dropped in a bucket of random liquid on stage.. bah, its good. Ran over by the tour semi accidentally, HA! Just replace the ball screen, its good! In one of the facilities here, we still have original Beta 58 mics (pre 58A) from the early 80's to late 70's. THEY STILL WORK. Hard to beat a tank like that.
@@AudioCraZ Yes you have right shure are better more rugged and unbreakble! and good sound. I say juste if you order a mic on aliexpress the better way is take a REAL CHINESE MIC not a copie of trademark. Take a copie it's always the bad choice!. They exist DIY microphone for exemple with a chinese disign a build from scratch! and this mic are good (but more expensive! than the fake mic ;)
@@jsebtarot5006 I have seen a few of those, and have been skeptical about picking one up. The ones that seem to be of decent quality still cost a fair amount, so it is more of an investment than me going "Oh, this will be interesting". Hopefully in the future I can check out more audio visual products that seem more legit.
I think you got it mix up. pretty sure the matte one is the original. I've watched other videos. all of them said that the matte grill one is the original and shiny one is a fake one.
yep he got it all mixed up. and in fact he was using a fake shure all this while.

From what I know, you got them mixed up dude. The matt, and gray one is a real shure. The chrome and greenish one is the fake.
I am confused as well. The gun metal head one is the fake one is it not? I just picked up a used one and am now questioning if real or fake
I did not get them mixed up. I plan on doing a follow up video on as I believe what they really copied.
The matt one is the real. You got it mixed.

You right👍
You definitely got them mixed up. Just shows how good the fake is. I suggest you weigh them both. The fake one will be lighter.

Alliexpress is real. He has a fake! 3 holes always a fake!
And the 3 holes at the bottom of your mic ..my authentic only had two screw holes
This cheep bata 58 it makes a great instrument microphone
You mixed the both mic man ! mate grid is the real one.
Its What i toght lol 🤣
The real Beta 58 grille has a concave ring at the bottom where it screws onto the handle of the mic. The fake is straight.

mine is real. the shure beta bag is white and smooth on the inside and the made in china tag tells me it is authentic.

So.... He bought a real one from Ali but thinks its a fake one? The shiney grill is the fake, not the matte grill
a store in my country is selling the aliexpress and charging the same price as genuine.

If you didnt mix them up, the matte finish wich u say is aliexpress is the real one. The shiny mic is definitely fake! Sorry.

If it is from Aliexpress, it is fake. Don’t order mics from there unless you are wanting to buy knock offs or something to experiment with.

the new aliexpress fakes try to copy actual shure. these kinds of fakes on aliexpress are labeled "Grade A" or "Top Quality" lol
