I bought a 4000 size kapstan se for catching channel cats. Ill probably take it with me to visit relatives in Florida and catch some saltwater fish. Great video
I picked up the KastKing Rekon 6000 manual bail about 2 months ago. Very similar features yet a more affordable salt water reel. It has the same drag system. The body is made of NyliTech instead of cnc aluminum. I’ve used it in the surf and really like it.
Every KastKing I have from my 10+ yr old Kodiak 4000, utilize TORX scews, less likely to slip IMO. that 8000 looked massive in your hands, been looking at the 3000 with all the same features for about a$ buck-thirty, would love to snag it but my other KastKing reels still work and look like new!, plus with SO many different models they offer It's hard to choose. Thanks Dennis.
Nice review. Appreciate the details beyond that it just feels good. Details like where the bearings are and the gear materials. Look forward to you stripping it down.
I picked up the Kapstan elite 4000 spinning reel but haven't used it yet. I was hesitant because the reviews I could find were KastKing reviews. Im glad to here you like the products. Can't wait for the spring to try it out!
I’ve been waiting to see this one! Are you ever going to disassemble this reel so we can seen what is inside? It does look like it uses quality metal in the gears. The seal also sounds nice. For me I’ll take my Daiwa 7000c, 9000C, GS9, GS90, and BG90 as well as my big Mitchells and Penns.. I guess I just have too many other options given my collection. Again I wish this KastKing had an AR override. Hope to see more of this reel sometime Dennis! - Chris
thanks for the video. I enjoy the reviews. I bought a kk crixus just recently for my wife. Smooth and cheap. They can be found for 15 bucks. If one looks hard. List was close to 40.Anyway inside was dry. Im glad I took your advise on new reels! 3&3 drag washers. It is quite similar inside as a president. I think it's cheap (fish and save) because a new model is replacing it. Thanks for your time//bill
Yes, if there is one criticism I have with the marketing it is that the prices are always changing and the models keep getting upgrades or replaced, so it is hard to know when to buy and at what price. Sounds like you got a good deal - Dennis
I've been looking into one of these for inshore fishing. Seems like the sizes run on the bigger end. Even the 3k size seems big. Looking for a mini tank like the Daiwa bg 2500 or Penn slammer. Might still pick this one up because of the price.
Take a peak under the hood. Main gear really machined brass? Or Chinesium? Sealing system? Perimeter gasket inside of the screw holes? Type of bearings? Enquiring minds want to know!🙂

I will try to do that, but the main gear is definitely a manganese Brass gear that is CNC cut and not junk - Dennis
