    This and the tanto version are my favorite Cold Steel folders. The value is tough to beat.

    Got this a few months back…great knife. I did some mods, deepened the finger choil a knocked off the inside edges. Also lengthened that area where it gets wider to a more gradual angle so it doesn’t pinch my middle finger.

    Many older Cold Steel knives were hollow ground then they decided to make most of their knives flat ground. Don't own this one yet but the ones I own in AUS10A are great knives, takes a great edge and easy to maintain. Crazy good work knives with great heat treats on all their steels at prices that won't break the bank. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

    well you convinced me, i've been looking at the SR1-lite and after seeing so many different reviews, I'm sticking this in the cart for next month's knife allowance.

    the sound of a blade gliding through cardboard against the grain is so satisfying

      Absolutely, I really like the sound of freehand Sharpening on different stones

    I don't have one, but it looks pretty much like a G10 version of my Code 4 and I love my Code 4. Good review, sir!

    Have the tanto version. Sweet knife for normal use. Just like the Code 4 it is thin enough to be uncomfortable using it hard. Overall very nice knife.

    Great review. My new favorite way to watch knife reviews is to change the playback speed. Watch neevesknives on 1.5x and metal complex on .5x. I gotta rewatch some old reviews now. Keep up the great work man.

    Good stuff! Great work knife that won't fail you and you can strop it on your jeans if needs it before the day is done.

      Yup, or the rough part of your palm, cardboard can also be a good Strop, or even soft wood

    I agree with all your points. I have the tanto version. I think it's designed to be light and compete with BM Bugout, without springs that breakes.
    Unfortunately when I squeeze it hard I can feel the sharp and thin G10 edges.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that's usually the downfall to knives with thin handles, imo the best hard use knives light weight or not fill your hand, can you imagine swinging a hammer as thin a a ruler, well no you want one that's round and comfortable no matter how hard you squeeze then you can provide maximum force

    That ceramic rod looks like the same one I have.
    I love my Air Lite. It's become my most carried Cold Steel, at least for normal edc. I carry one of the beefier ones for outdoor stuff.

      There's a bunch of cold steel knives I need to try out, they are one of my most recommended work knives

      @@NeevesKnives I'm liking the Bush Ranger too. It's not a pretty knife for sure, but it's a good hard use knife. I'm glad I picked it up.

    I just ordered the tanto version, the trilock is bomb proof, the steel I think is enough and g10 grip, slim, seems easy to carry. Great review thanks for the video 👍

    My Air Lite gets more pocket time than any other knife I own.. great blade.
    BTW use the heel of your thumb to push down on the lock to close the knife. Much easier and more comfortable.

  • @pop4803

    As a tool I think it's a good one but for edc it's light and durable.

    I just got my recon one mini. Can you say the word tank? It’s bigger than what I thought it would be. I also purchased the recon one micro and I think I like the micro better.

    canonical review rubric, expert level commentary. been thinking about getting this. jersey knife guy lives this knife. WHY are cold steel knives SO MUCH cheaper on amazon? like suspicious level cheaper, makes me nervous, they seem not legit!

    • @airadaimagery692
      @airadaimagery692 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know what your saying, considering the air lite had been selling for about $20 more than what you can find it at... But you what, I think that at this cheaper price, it’s actually priced more accurately when you compare it to the price of the Code 4.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's because your getting for what the company's are selling it to you for are basically getting it, bhq probably gets them a bit cheaper than what Amazon sells them for and then has to make a profit

    What is annealed steel used for?
    Annealing is a heat treatment process which alters the microstructure of a material to change its mechanical or electrical properties. Typically, in steels, annealing is used to reduce hardness, increase ductility and help eliminate internal stresses.

    Thought this would be my end all EDC…but I actually don’t carry this much over other EDC’s in my collection. My esee avispa is my current work knife. I work outdoors and the thinness of the airlite is lacking for hard use, but that’s the selling point of the knife, right? Clip is fair.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, sometimes I try to figure out why a knife winds up getting beat out by others. Then you realize what's important to you at the end of the day.

    Every back lock cold steel seems dangerous when closed as in the bias towards closed detent is light and the tip is only a couple mm from being exposed.
