Criticisms of certain aspects of these cars miss the point, ie 'not very exciting etc', and the usual 'it's a touring sports but not sporty'. People who buy these cars, like me, don't give a fig for sporty or exciting, they want long term robustness and reliability. Tried and trusted engineering. If you want sporty and exciting buy a BMW or Audi or such. Toyota know what their customers want, and supply the goods. This is why they are so internationally successful and produce the best selling car in the world.
I understand where you’re coming from, I also drive this on a daily basis. Having the sport name can arguably be misleading ( maybe GR trim would have been better) but as you mentioned this is more for reliability and robustness. What engine and trim have you gone for?
The word 'sport' is definitely overused in the car industry. The term SUV to describe any higher riding 4x4 looking vehicle (many are not actually 4x4) are classed as 'Sports Utility Vehicles' but in most cases there is very little, if anything, sporty about them.
I am getting 62mpg out of mine. It has much better acceleration than my 1.8 Avensis. The old Corolla was only 1.4 so I cannot understand the complaints about acceleration
Hi enjoyed your channel on the Toyota Touring Sports Hybrid. In your opinion would it be suitable as a Taxi in a city and suburban area’s or would I be better off with a Diesel Car. I would be very grateful for your advice. Again great show very well put together and quick and to the point. Keep up the good work.
@@anthonyfoley3377 I think with both you be fine but if your going longer distances on the highway etc most of the time then diesel would be better in terms of MPG but if your city I would just stick with the hybrid.
It's effectively the new Prius in it's philosophy, that's what it should be compared to. It's an everyday car designed for city and country roads, and doesn't mind going on holiday. The actual new Prius is more of the 'coupe' version. I've gone for the 2.0L.
The door mirrors are electrically powered, they are not called electronic. Electronic term is used for features that can function and 'think' by the ECU function. Example, EFi. Power seats, power windows are just simple electric motors which require manual input by human beings. Early versions of EPB were electric, today most of them are electronic though (able to think and act on its own).
This car costs as twice less than any "exciting tourings". Fully loaded corolla ts 40k€ 2.0 engine 144kw. For example you can take golf variant 235kw for 65-70k € its about 60% more. And dont forget reliability and fuel economy
if you got a 2022 or 2023 they are amazing cars no doubt about it also they can be cheap to maintain it depends what are you after by the way i never had a Toyota corolla, i am not talking from experience i do own an Audi a5 and my next car will be Mercedes Benz E class, but they are expensive for sure, but since i don't have a wife and kids i got more money to spend
The battery is tiny ... it weighs very little! You can't choose to use the hybrid (it's not plug-in) ... you just use it all the time!? I feel the reviewer doesn't understand the tech!
This guy literally has no idea how the hybrid system works on this car with a very poor explanation. Reviews a standard trim and is disappointed that you can't move the back seats or some nonsense like that. For an entry level car it comes pretty fully loaded compared to other brands. Also there was no mention of all the great safety features as standard and the 10 years warranty toyota do now as long as you get the car serviced with them. This was a poor review sorry.
The Avensis is 1.8 and not as fast, the old Corolla is only 1.4 the acceleration is good it uses the battery momentarily to boost the engine. The whole point is regeneration of the battery from engine and wheel braking to save mpg
maybe taxi, but it does the job. not sport for sure, but is a very, very capable load lugger and a very smooth drive. build quality is bullet proof.you get a much better finish on these than you do with comparable vehicles like astra/focus/308 etc.
Totally agree! what Trim do you have? The GR Trim level on theCorolla doesn't look that much different to be honest. Usually Toyota's don't seem to differentiate dramatically between the trim levels .@@bigmacntings7451
I also have to add that toyota are the leading manufacturer if hybrid and there cars are well built you kept on talking about spot yes if you want sport go get a audi or a BMW if you want reliability and great fuel economy get a toyota I'm not knocking your review I'm abit disappointed in it
IS IT WORTH IT?

Its a full hybrid not a mild hybrid
One of the best options until electric cars improve more.
build quality. it will still be going strong in 20 years

What’s your average speed for this?
It’s a Sport because there’s loads of room to take stuff with you when you drive somewhere to play sports…
Whats a Teaota Corolla?

You'll have expensive DPF issues with diesils driving in the city.
Mostly long runs - diesils
City/suburban - hybrid
A mixture - hybrid
You can adjust the boot floor divider to give you more room. 👍 3:14

Nice video but I recon the 2 litre would be a better option.

this is not a mild hybrid and battery is under rear seat not floor
0:48 they do a Toyota crown as well.
The gr sport looks far more sporty as that's just the basic trim

They do a 2.0 litre as well but feel the 1.8 petrol is most preferred.
What’s the full electric range?
This is not a plug-in hybrid max all electric range around 1-2 miles max. The engine cuts in if you accelerate over 20mph.
Next uber car 👍
They are very popular for this and quite right so. Reliable and decent MPG as that is was the hybrid setup is designed for inner city.
That noise in the background (some would say music) has made me stop the vid.
Noted!
Noisy on the motorway and no to great on MPG due to E10.
8k views and 77 likes…something ain’t legit here
Huh?
Far to noisy on the move, and loads of plastic inside
Correct
taxi
Eh... it's not nice looking. My 2019 is way sharper
I’m starting to warm to it. I wasn’t overly bought on the look straight away. I love the bright LED daytime headlights especially night.
Yeah, it would be an amazing thing with better lights... the ones I have, 2 flashlights ducktaped at the hood :) @@ISITWORTHITUK

Rubbish review...your review is flawed in so many ways...it is a full fat hybrid...
Great thanks for the support
Oh and by the way if a taxi driver uses them they are well built reliable best reviews ask a taxi driver
