I was born in 1991 so I was too young to enjoy most of the LEGO in the 90s, but oh boy was that catalogue from 2002 a trip down nostalgia lane. I remember owning that exact catalogue and spent so much time looking over it as a kid...
2:31 I believe that Imperial Shuttle was my first LEGO Star Wars set that I purchased and it took me awhile to get comfortable with those sets, so by post 2002 I was fully into LEGO Star Wars!😂😂 But they were expensive back then compared to the quality.
In ‘92 I was 20yrs old and had some disposable income. I bought the Airport Shuttle and the Model Team Whirl and Wheel set as well as some of the pirate sets and boats. Still have them and most of the sets are complete. A lot of good sets back then. Thanks for sharing those old catalogs.
A friend of mine had the lego studios movie set and we had SUCH A BLAST with that! We would make hysterical corny videos that had no plot or substance but it was so fun!!!! He eventually let me have the camera and software amazingly enough and i made a battle scene for my seminary class back then! Man that was fun! Yes it was crazy expensive! I was amazed Nathan was able to get it back then. He's the one i did those videos with.
The 2001 catalogue there is the very first Shop at Home catalogue I ever got, and I've collected every one I could since then. The Canadian versions of course. Some of the pages in mine are a little different, and mine has Alpha Team instead of Aquazone. There was *SO* much from that one that I wanted at the time, though I've gotten more of those sets in the years since than I did when they were current. Except the Dinosaurs. I got all those right away. Those 90s space themes... I've always wanted almost all of them, but I've only been able to collect a few. Insectoids and Life on Mars I have most of, UFO I have a couple sets, and that's unfortunately it. I have a chunk of a Spyrius set from a yard sale, and like one Exploriens minifig. Also for some reason the Stingrays subtheme of Aquazone always looked like the coolest thing to me.
That was awesome to see all of those! My favorite was the 1996 catalog, that was right in my main era of collecting as a kid. The Metro PD Station was my favorite Christmas present ever, I played with that set so much.
It's funny that you call the 1992 catalog a "real old one", yet my very small LEGO collection (6x5 baseplate city) is comprised of 63xx, 65xx and 66xx sets from 1992 or older. I think I have even older catalogues somewhere. Oh, and that Octan Gas N' Wash Express is in my to buy list 😄 For some reason I never liked the "new" 6 stud wide vehicle style, probably because I grew up with 4 stud wide vehicles, and older parts were more generic, which in my opinion lead to more imaginative and simple custom builds.

I have all those Pirate ships from years gone by. It is cool to see the catalog, I never had those, I bought all mine from K-Mart back in the day.

They were very different. Now those same sets are often worth some good money.

At 11:17 there is an LEGO Idea Book on the bottom right site of the 1992 Catalog. These were great times.
Oh! Nice too see the 4,5/12v sets still available in the '92 catalogue.
Yep, they were hangin' in there.
Man those were the days
They were indeed.

We need 1996 lego back 😩
Love the nostalgia!

Such great sets!
I have some of those star wars sets still! It was really nice to see an ad for them again.
A lot of great pirate ships in there. If only I had been looking for those in 2002 instead of Star Wars.
Same!
Oh man i love those magazines! I remember having them! I'm trying to get them back though on bricklink and i keep forgetting to.
This is a very nice looking desk you have Haha. These are what I meant on Brick News, I want these inside big sets. I miss these so much.
1992 was the beginning of my dark ages. These little critters called children showed up in my life that required my attention and resources.😮😅😊
Kids will definitely do that.
