Alistair Yates's pronunciation of "German Count". Pure Alan Partridge.
The first segment about the German count is pure The Day Today.
Now thats what I call news presenting ... bring it back ...
A German what now?
Count.
'ThisisSkyNewsTenPeopleWillSellTheirKidneysToThisMan'
I can see where viewers might have been a bit taken aback at first - the theme and appearance is very American. The bit that surprises me is how much Matthew Lorenzo aged in just a few years - I recall him doing London Tonight in 1995 and he didn’t look anywhere as young as this!
Thanks for posting
0:31 The way he first says “a German count”.
I was living in Soviet those days look now I am in England and English watching a news about myself its time machine amazing
German COUNT. Pronounced 'Cahnt'. Queen's English folks!
Ah! Sounded like Kant. Immanuel Kant.
Did Penny Smith wake up late and have to rush into work, giving herself no time to get ready properly and run a brush through her hair ??!!?? 😮
No it's called 80s hair.
penny smith!! beautiful as ever!!
Posh accent, 80s shoulder pads
teeth
@@randygardener Everyone's teeth is pretty good in this video, from what I saw.
A much smoother launch than GB 'News'
What A Throwback
The music is the Great News Package from Frank Gari. Those were the good ole days.
hookem2003 Best in television !
I sold both my kidneys on ebay. Now I'm dead.
...but rich nevertheless.

Oh, much Sky has changed since then now its all about the President and America this America that!
Well, that's very true, Profit trader. Some things, though, are apparently slower to change. An outbreak of disease, strife in Afghanistan, violence and cover-ups in jails, ground-breaking medical advances... This could almost be recent!
Penny, Alistair and Matthew would then present 'Sunrise' the morning after this broadcast from 5am to 9:30am. Penny and Alistair were the first presenters of 'Sunrise' and it was a good idea to have them launch the channel. Penny and Matthew moved on to GMTV (Penny was the newsreader, Matthew was a presenter) Alistair would move on the BBC and present news on the World Service before there was a BBC World News
James Campton 5am is an early start for a breakfast show.
very interested in the segment at 13:10 about MiniTel 😀
Debbie Leonard passed away soon after this unfortunately, in December 1989. RIP
So sad, wonderful she got to spend some time with her son

Adam Bolton featured here before he turned full Bull Frog
This Sky News was far better then than the apparent FOX-style it is now.
Amazingly modern overlay logo back 25 years ago eh?
6:52 plus ca change
On 5th February 2019, Sky News will celebrate 30 years on air.
That's in 4 days
This is how presenters should sound
Hi from Ireland gorgeous Penny smith
Penny Smith looking beautiful but why so uptight and straight forward? It's kinda weird.
This is how I want a news channel to be. I'm hoping the new GB News channel will be like this when it starts in a few weeks' time, on 13th June 2021.
when was that ?
5th Feb 1989.
Didn’t like their reporting of Myra Hindley. Saying she’s an “attractive woman” and talking about her “partner in crime”, making light of their crimes, and insensitive to the victims families
haha - look at a young Adam Boulton.. looks a lot different from what he looked like when I saw him on SkyNews earlier on today. I like the theme music very much. And dont the presenters and reporters sound so posh!
Sky tv got lucky because they got the rights to the newly formed F.A premier league which made them into the force they are today. If they hadn’t I think it would have looked very different for them
f.a premier league, sounds so interesting.
Definitely. Without the football they wouldn't be where they are .
How did we manage back then without all the EU migrants the mind boggles.
i dont even work, immigrants do it all for us.
Penny smith has worn well. pretty then and still
My word people talking on computers through the telephone, what next?
Penny must have been down Harley St.
Oh goodness me, this makes me feel so old! Everything evolves... Luckily!!
Still a piss poor propoganda machine
A german what?
Count. Husband of a countess, what we call an earl here in England.

One kidneuy ah ah ah ah ah. Two kidneys ah ah ah ah ah
A German what? ;)

Of course this was from the long-since defunct Sky Television Plc (1984-1990).
A German count !!!!!
Interesting look at the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan
Didn't Dirty Den leave Eastenders in 1989? Hmmmmm.
1986
1989. Don't know why it says 30 years before 2014 in the description.
