I have no idea why he called it "American" whenever it was Japanese people in Japan who decided that is how the character's name is to be pronounced in a Japanese game.
And why "Cage"? Kage debuted in Street Fighter 5 and his name is clearly pronounced by the announcer. All this ignorance and borderline xenophobia makes me wonder if Top Hat is just joking to trigger picky people (which mea culpa and he got me), or if he has never actually played these games with these characters.
Ok so I'm not the only one kinda buged by the Cage pronunciation its freaking Kage: KAA-GAY , I think its Japanese for shadow, if it was a troll then well played.
I think he might just be trolling.
He either doesn't care enough to make the effort to pronounce things properly (despite the names & words being said clearly in the game) or he does it intentionally because he knows that he'll get a whole heap of reactions & comments about it which of course helps the TH-cam algorithm in promoting his videos.
@@suryans5851 I'm honestly not all that familiar with Top Hat's content, so I can totally accept that he does it to get reactions for the algorithm and as a joke as a possibility.
I suspect it's a bit of both. Either that or he's so stuck in his habits to bother changing his pronunciations or he blatantly just doesn't care enough & lacks the professionalism to make an effort. It is what it is I guess & I'll still watch the videos because I like the content but man is it excruciating to listen to sometimes...
so you can say Tchaikovsky but you cant say Ryu?
Satsui No Hado
( CAPCOM : Street Fighter Series )
🆚
Devil Gene
( Namco : TEKKEN )
Which one is the strongest ?
The continued disrespect of a franchise you supposedly like, yet you continuously pronounce the main characters' name wrong on purpose.
Bro the Assasins Fist clips though, if you got a place I can find the series I would LOVE to get my hands on them, saw them when the first came out and NEVER had a chance to show anyone else but I told them about how good it is. Street Fighter Passion at its finest.
Also the Kage scenario is more akin to Shadow Rejection from Persona if anything. Which just happens due to the shadow achieving its own ego and consciousness via cognitive split.
Ryu = Re Yu
Kage= Ka Gay
Im british and i have no problems with saying the names
Evil Ryu on thumbnail is spitting image of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Oddly enough, the mispronunciation "Rah yuu" is the one that originated in America. The pronunciation "Ree yuu" is the Japanese pronunciation attempted with American phonetics. The original pronunciation was almost like your first try, but the "u" sounds closer to something like a "ü", not an "o".
3:20 is when Top Hat Gaming Man purposely stops using EYOOUURGH
Ill be honest, I thought you just forgot to say Ryu's name after sneezing but then it happened again
Lets talk about how technically Evil Ryu IS the guy who left the scar on his chest since he is the Satsui in Ryu so.......
Brits: Americans can't pronounce "aluminum"
Me:
U should do violent ken next
Found my new ring tone... or text alert... or just general next sound I make... think I can't [continued use of incorrect ellipses] SHOR I CAN
How about Evil Sakura?? That was in the alpha games.
I always thought she was like Akumas long lost daughter or something.(Before the dark Hado lore was more developed)
Why are you saying Ryu like that. It's very weird
I would like to see you cover Kairi from Street Fighter EX and Fighting EX Layer.
i always thought it was you because that's how it's said in every anime i have seen and this might be a dumb question but are the alpha games cannon?
In marvel vs capcom infinite his level 3 super is him fighting back his evil form while doing his shin shoryuken
YEAH CRAZY ASH FREAKING TOP HAT!!
3:21
No, DON'T! Mexicans HATE that pronounciation of Ryu's name!
Oh poor Mexicans lol
@@numa2k147 the mexican Street Fighter fanbase is as big as anywhere else and they LOATHE that horrible R-A-Y-E-U pronounciation.
Cage...ka-ge....gooken...gootesu...😂😂😂😂😂😂wow my ears couldn't take the mispronouncing
I do love these street fighter trivia videos. These British pronunciations though, there so cringy. I'm English and I've always thought so
Ry yuuu
Ryyyy yuuuu
Ryyyyyyy yuuuuuu
History of Ken->Violent Ken
Evil Ryu / Kage was just a desperate move by Capcom to give him back some popularity after Akuma started to appear in SF.
Wrong
Please, make a story ( Video ) about :
The Horrifying story of Akuma and his two forms ( Shin Akuma and Oni The Mad Demon )
😆🤣😂 I used to get mad when you pronounced ryu's name wrong. However this was funny as hell
In MvCI evil Ryu it's not just a skin. If you do a shin shoryuken with 25% or less health Ryu will become evil Ryu for a few seconds
