We purchased our 2001 Lincoln Continental and wasn't aware it too had transmission issue. But we only paid 2800.00 for it too. After figuring out the transmission needed work, we took it to a very reputable transmission repair/rebuild shop to work on it (it's where all the local mechanics send their customers and anyone who races for competition takes their vehicles too for transmission work). We were told it was probably just a module that needed replaced. But we were told by the transmission repair shop that they needed to do more work than just the module. They completely rebuilt the transmission, top bottom / front to back. So we basically have a new transmission. We could not be happier with this car now. Our car is basically identical to yours except we have the steering wheel mounted shift lever and the two separate armrests in the seat center. Ours also has the Alpine sound system with the six CD disc changer, AM FM stereo with cassette. We only use the CD and radio. Ours also has the power sunroof in it. I'm pretty sure it has all the options you could get for that car in 2001.
Yeah, I remember as a kid an older friend had one of these. The engine was solid & extremely responsive. But the transmission in these things are… well the less I say the better.
I thought it would of had you take 75, not 23 but welcome back! Not to sound too weird but very familiar with your home town! Work and live near by! Waiting on my lariat lux package Ordered 10-11 so I got a while yet but that’s okay!

Hey BlakesCars2, great to see it in motion. How does this ride compared to the Taurus you sold earlier?
I been keeping my eye 👁️ on one ☝🏾 on Facebook marketplace place preferably the column shift one

That’s why the horsepower is capped at 275HP. Flawed transmission by design.
I just bought a 1999 this week. Verdict is still out on how bad the trans is. We will see
Damn dude buy a lottery ticket with that luck
I cant say I understand or share you love for the Lincoln but made for an interesting watch!
