  • This worksheet can be used to analyze expenditure items on a statewide basis by reducing the expenditure item to a cost-per-student basis. There are a lot of moving parts to this worksheet. The first filter on which to focus is the Select Expense Item parameter. Use this to select any component of the accounting code (except Location and Subject). The Expense Item Filter found just below the Select Expense Item parameter will update to display the appropriate items. From this, you can include/exclude the desired data items. The remaining filters allow you to mass-exclude salary/benefit items, Certified/Classified items and to select the desired year. The current school year will not be displayed as this worksheet is designed to work only on completed school years.
The chart has three columns: Total District Expenditures, 3rd Qtr ADM and Expenditure per Student. The first column (Total District Expenditures) shows the total expenditures for the item(s) selected in the filters. The second column (3rd Qtr ADM) show the size of the district. The third column (Expenditure per Student) is the result from dividing the first column by the second column. The Expenditure per Student column has a vertical blue line. This line is the statewide average cost per student for the expenditure items selected in the filters. It is calculated by dividing the sum of the first column by the sum of the second column. Red bars are districts that are over the state average. Blue bars are districts that are under the state average.
There is also a field named Total Expenditures. This is a statewide total of the selected expenditure item(s).
