Its a natural disaster even the preventive measures have been put in place which since last decades ..the water level not as bad as this time around. Unlike flash floood which keep happening in KL and even the developed city state of Singapore. Flood is not just caused blocking drain as in the cities but water tide and heavy rain..many developed countries also hit by flood due to climate change and sea water level rising.

Foreigners need places to stay too. Those expatriates, foreign workers and MM2H residents. All the state coffers cannot be used just for tackling floods alone.
There have been a lot of “estuary breaker” at several sections of kelantan river to release flood water to the sea. It has been done since COVID-19, or earlier. But this year, the rain pour heavily non stop for weeks. Some areas that never had flood before, are affected.
@ yes, this ‘climate change’ effect that’s going on all over our world have caused massive damage to areas that were previously thought to be far from such calamities. Just take the most recent freak flooding in the UK and S.E. Spain
I vote Afifah for PM. She goes all over Malaysia to talk to the village folk. She knows what is happening on the ground and how the people are struggling.
It’s not a storm but just heavy monsoon rains. I don’t how Malaysians would react and face if they have strong typhoons like in PH. Drainage system is the key.
No one are ready and no one in Malaysia or other country ever experienced the same disaster as japan and Philippines. If it did happen the casualty will be high 😔
The failure of state governments to adequately prepare for or address flood management often leaves the rakyat frustrated and angry. Repeated disasters, such as the ongoing evacuations of over 95,000 people due to potentially the worst floods in a decade, highlight systemic shortcomings in urban planning, disaster preparedness, and drainage infrastructure maintenance. Citizens expect their leaders to prioritize proactive measures, such as improving flood-mitigation systems and ensuring rapid response capabilities. When these fail, especially after years of similar incidents, it reinforces the perception of negligence or mismanagement. It's understandable why the rakyat feel let down and demand accountability for preventable suffering.
Haven't you noticed? Eversince the massive development of real estates all over Malaysia, everytime it rains, flood happens. Go look at all the developed locations.. where do the water from their drains flow to?

Perhaps flattening acres of hills and building terrace houses for miles on ends which covers the soil surface with concrete and asphalt in the low lands of a tropical climate isnt a good idea? I believe Traditional malay architecture had houses built on stilts 6 to 10 foot high from ground level for a reason. The no development 10 foot from river banks is also inadequate.
Why is she reporting at 400++ km away from the flood site? 😂.. better use video in the social media to show the real situation. Btw, I’m staying in the Malaysia east coast this round to take care of my mum and it rains cats and dogs for weeks but we still have faith in everything around us.
Wonder why year in year out that flash floods will come back but no drainage improvement done . Even with high technologies human are still fighting for floods what a waste innovating high technologies that cannot improve basic infrastructures that might affect basic livelihood directly or indirectly
So, 1 of the inadequate policies affect construction building of homes to NOT include flood mitigation. I'm pretty sure the audience here know about Malay traditional houses that are on stilts which elevates the floor. A tradition that once protect against floods but we never include that kind of care into modern houses today. And because flood care is not a requirement for these houses, so we're now stuck in this mess.
What long term solutions the authority planning to do? Flood water diversion..? Dredging the river, block drainage? Upgrade the depth of monsoon drains.. all the down grade rivers to small culvert drainage need rehabilitate. All flat lands needed flood barrier walls where suitable. The river banks confluence needed dredge and build flood wall on the river banks . Time to encourage. Preparation of houses build on elevation on concrete stilts.. Mandatory..
