I could see you really enjoyed your birthday present! I haven't driven a 37, but cabbed 401, Mary Doll, or Mary, Queen of Scots, when she was at Bo'ness. What a present Mike.
You lucky man! Belated happy birthday, anyway! Nice bit of footage. Great to see. Glorious-sounding machine. Lovely to hear. Specially in the tunnel! Tractor-magic! Better present than socks and aftershave, isn’t it!.
Brilliant footage Mike, Looks like a brilliant birthday treat. 👍 I remember seeing D6948 (37248) when she was with West Coast Railways, the transformation carried out by the GWR on her is amazing. 😃
Mike, you had such a smile that you looked like a kid where all his Christmas's and Birthday's had come at once ! - Looks like you did well, congrats and thanks for taking us along for the experience too
@@antman09ful1 😁 I know Kev, he's a great chap. Ive driven many a 37 on the mainline from 1986 - 2004. I miss driving such wonderful loco's these days but I do still get the odd HST to enjoy with Cross Country.
Happy Birthday Mike and what a wonderful treat for you and so well filmed & edited. I had a similar treat two years ago on the GCR with 37714 with my wife as 'Second Man' on camera. One thing I noticed was you didn't appear to have to keep 're-activating' the deadmans like on 714 which can be a distraction....... Imust say that grin on your face was priceless lol. Cheers, Brian. (PS: I've now made mine visible Mike lol.)
And surprises don't get much better eh Mike. You reminded me that mine was buried somewhere unlisted but when I changed it to public it came to the fore, hope you enjoy. Cheers, Brian.
Very good considering 1st time?.....welshman instructing what else lol....driven 158 to valleys from cardiff, but would swap 3 of them for one go in the 37....love the things, cab and loco looks amazing ,like new top stuff AM,you will be on a 800 next lol
Thanks for most of your great comment, I would think driving up the valleys would be good with all the nice countryside Russell, I bet you would have more chance to pull the leaver in the plastic 800s than me. Cheers Mike.
Nice one Mike, you had a great teacher in Kev Jarvis ! I presume you’re a member of the group,as am I . Did I spy peter smith with you as well. How do you rate her ? Andy
No Andy I'm not a member, yes you did see peter, I think any tractor is brilliant but I must say I had a great day on this railway Andy, but if I'd had a choice I would go for 37215. Cheers Mike.
